Chapter 8: the Ultimate battle royal
Far Below the Ground
Psykos sensed the immense energy emanating from the surface.
She assumed it must be one of the cadres but couldn't determine which one. None of them should have been capable of producing this level of power.
For now, however, that didn't matter. She continued her search for Orochi.

In the Tunnels
Several kilometers away, Saitama and Genos made their way through one of the Monster Association's tunnels. They encountered a few monsters along the way, but none posed any real challenge.
The thick walls of the hideout rendered Genos' radar almost useless, leaving the two heroes completely lost.

Above the Ground
Amid the chaos on the surface, Phoenix Man tried to slip away unnoticed.
Boros spotted him but didn't bother to pursue the small fry, allowing the bird-like monster to escape successfully.
At the same time, Overgrown Rover shook off the rubble that had buried him after being sent flying through several buildings by Boros. Trembling with fear, the hound bolted away.
"Huh, that thing's pretty durable," thought Boros. "Might make a good pet for me."
"I hope you enjoyed your time at the top, because it ends now!"
Suddenly, Platinum S launched himself at Boros, driving his fist into the alien's face with immense force.
Boros grunted as the blow sent him flying backward. Fueled by his earlier fury at the alien's taunts, Platinum S wasted no time and immediately charged after him.
He caught up in an instant, delivering a brutal elbow strike to the eye on Boros' chest, slamming the alien into the ground with enough force to obliterate several nearby buildings.
Grabbing Boros by the face, Platinum S ran at full speed, dragging the alien through the ground for kilometers before hurling him into the air.
Platinum S leapt after him, landing a devastating knee to Boros' back before punching him back down to the ground. He rocketed down after the alien, planting both feet on Boros' stomach and creating a massive crater.
Boros coughed up blood as Platinum S jumped back, landing gracefully a few meters away. Crossing his arms, the shining monster smirked.
"How's that for a challenge?"

Deep Below the Ground
Meanwhile, Psykos continued searching for Orochi when she noticed a pile of flesh crawling toward her.
..................….
Boros lay motionless for a few seconds before bursting into a massive laugh, confusing Platinum S.
Slowly, the alien got back to his feet, wiping the blood from his mouth.
"Yes! That's more like it," Boros said, his voice filled with exhilaration. "You are the opponent I've been seeking."
Laughing in pure joy, he loosened his grip on his power, letting his wild aura explode outward as he powered up.
Seeing this, Platinum S shifted into a fighting stance. "Very well. This is the perfect chance to test my new power. Let's see how long you last."
Before they could continue, Elder Centipede burst out of the ground, lunging at Boros.
The alien prepared to defend himself, but the insect monster suddenly froze mid-attack.
A green glow enveloped Elder Centipede's body, crushing it with immense force.
"What's going on here?" Boros muttered.
A figure descended from the sky, her green hair flowing as her psychic aura radiated around her. It was Tatsumaki.
With a flick of her palm, the pressure on Elder Centipede intensified. His armored body cracked and crumpled until he was condensed into a ball no larger than a small building. The monster died instantly.
"Class S, Rank 2, Tornado of Terror," Platinum S exclaimed. "What a surprise."
Boros grinned. "Class S, Rank 2? That means you're strong, right? The second strongest in the Hero Association."
His grin widened. "This must be my lucky day. Things just keep getting better and better."
Before anyone could respond, a massive wave of energy erupted from the ground nearby, obliterating a huge portion of the city.
The ground trembled as enormous tendrils shot out from the Monster Association hideout, digging deep into the earth. A towering figure rose from the ruins—a fusion of Psykos and Orochi, her monstrous form dwarfing everything around her.
Tatsumaki, Platinum S, and Boros stared in shock.
"Where in the world did that thing come from?"
Boros narrowed his eye. "The energy coming from it... It's similar to Orochi's."
"Boros!" the massive creature roared. "We have a score to settle!"
The fusion, now Psycho-Orochi, retained enough of Orochi's memories to harbor a significant grudge against the alien.
Platinum S smirked, mocking Boros. "Looks like someone's got a target on his back."
Before Platinum S could say anything else, Boros' fist slammed into his cheek, cutting him off.
"Here, let me repay you for earlier," Boros said, laughing as he pummeled Platinum S, sending him crashing into a nearby building.
Boros prepared to follow up his attack, but a green aura surrounded him, freezing him in place.
Tatsumaki pointed a finger upward, lifting the alien high into the air. The esper began to crush him with her psychic power.
Further away, Psycho-Orochi scanned the battlefield. Spotting Boros floating helplessly in the sky, she extended both hands forward.
"Found you!" she shouted, firing a massive energy beam directly at him.
Hearing the shout, Boros tried to turn toward the source, but Tatsumaki's hold kept him immobilized.
Gritting his teeth, he tensed his muscles and unleashed a surge of energy, breaking free of her psychic grip just in time to see the enormous beam heading straight for him.
Realizing he couldn't dodge such a wide attack in time, Boros raised his arm in front of himself and braced for impact as the energy blast engulfed him.
