What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Can all of you calm down?!

All we did was post a request for a weapon to be crafted and all these Zwergers are acting like we just told them we knew the secret of the universe or something!

Yumiko came to the rescue as she stood up, towering herself over the Zwergers that were surrounding us as she raised a hand to get their attention.

"Listen up! We're only interested in bladed weapons! I say again, bladed weapons! Anyone who isn't willing, interested or experienced in making those is automatically not considered!"

The Zwergers around us stared at her for a moment before several of them grumbled and started to leave.

Surprisingly, there were still about a dozen of them remaining and they looked like they were just picked to win a lucky draw or something.

Yumiko sat down again and gestured at the remaining Zwergers, "We are only interested in hiring one. Let me see something to know your capabilities. Could be a design sketch or even a past work that you have lying around. I'll decide based on that."

A handful of the Zwergers ran off, presumably to get the items that she requested for while a few walked off with disappointed looks. I'm guessing the latter were Zwergers who don't have any proof of having worked on a blade before.

The remaining were frantically tapping on their personal terminals to bring up screens of their designs which they quickly rushed up to show to Yumiko.

I don't want to be mean but… Seeing that they were short… It kind of looked like they were school children running up to their teacher to show them the drawings they did in class.

Amber giggled beside me, "They look like children running up to show their teacher something~"

Hmm… Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought that way. At least she said that in a whisper so I don't think any of them heard it.

Actually, I don't even think they are paying attention to anything aside from Yumiko right now anyway.

Ries hopped over to Yumiko's side, no doubt to see what those Zwergers had made as a reference for her own designs.

Yumiko clearly had no idea what she was looking at so she didn't mind Ries being there either.

But when Ries saw the first screen being projected though…

"What the… What the heck even is this? This looks like it was drawn by someone who doesn't even know what they're doing!"

Uh oh…

Err… What was that about not questioning a Zwerger's work again?

Well… Then again, this is Ries we're talking about so she definitely knows what she's doing.

The Zwerger who just had his design criticised furrowed his brows at her, "What did you say, girl?!"

She pointed at one specific part of the screen, "You're trying to put an energy compensator right beside the energy focal without a heat sink? Have you even worked with either of these things before? That's going to generate enough heat to melt both of these things and possibly even cause the entire thing to explode in your hand! Do you even know how to make this?!"

Almost immediately, the Zwerger snapped his mouth shut and looked visibly chastised.

He then quickly took back his personal terminal before quickly walking away with his head down.

Oh wow… Ries actually destroyed that guy…

She then looked at the next one and her brows furrowed even deeper, "What… What even… How… Is this made as a joke or something?"

The Zwerger in question, who was a female, crossed her arms in front of her chest, "You have a problem with it?"

Incidentally, I think now is a good time to mention that while the male Zwergers looked like what you might expect of dwarves… Female Zwergers were just basically shortstacks…

Like this one was quite literally only up to the bottom of my chest in height and she had a chest that was the size of her head and the behind of a dump truck. Those thighs of hers were thicker than her neck too…

Yeah… I have no doubt there's some people who would really like this kind of body type.

Then again… Ries was pretty close to that type as well, though she wasn't as short as they were. She's still cute though!

Speaking of which, my Maochatte tapped her finger on the holographic screen in front of her, "Look here! Look here! You're suggesting to put in a Ketrite crystal just for aesthetic purposes as it would make it glow red?! Do you even know what happens when a Ketrite crystal comes into contact with an electromagnetic field?"

The Zwerger blinked at Ries, clearly having no idea but not wanting to admit it either.

Ries let out a sigh, "While they do glow red, they also emit radiation! This is why we usually put them behind a radiation shield but you want to have your aesthetics so you removed the shield to get the red glow?! Are you kidding me?! Are you sure you're even qualified to handle this stuff?"

She didn't answer and instead, looked down and slowly took her personal terminal back and started walking away silently.

Damn…

I even spotted two of them sneakily pulling back as well before quietly leaving before Ries could see their designs. They most likely had no confidence in their own designs either and didn't want to get burned by Ries.

And here I thought that all the Zwergers were expert smiths or something but I guess even amongst them there's still people who have no idea what they're doing…

Ries looked at the next screen and her face scrunched up even more.

I didn't even need to ask to know that this was a failure too.

She looked at the Zwerger who presented it and he was still grinning up at her as though there was nothing wrong with it.

"Are you… Are you retarded?" Ries asked to his face.

He didn't even look offended and just shrugged, "I've been told that I am quite special. People with low intelligence would not be able to understand my genius. Are you one of them?"

Ries didn't even answer him and turned to Yumiko, "He's trying to claim that this, the Energy Wave Blade made by Energon Incorporated was designed by him."

Oh… If I'm not wrong, that's the same weapon that I'm currently using on my Power Armour right now.

I mean… I don't know who made it but I have a feeling that Ries does and she knows for a fact that this guy wasn't the guy behind it.

Instead of backing down, he puffed up his chest even more, "That's right! You're looking at the key designer behind that very weapon! You should be honoured!"

Ries slammed the table with her fist, "No you fucking aren't! The person who made this was a human, not a Zwerger you fucking shill!"

She picked up his personal terminal and threw it at him, smacking him right in the face.

The guy actually fell over onto the ground from the impact, the personal terminal bouncing on his chest before rolling onto the ground.

Oh shit… Come on, Ries… Now that's going to cause some trouble if you resort to violence like that… The other Zwergers here would definitely ban us from--

The Zwergers beside him suddenly started beating him up as well, some punching him and the others kicking him while he was down.

"Trying to plagiarise works?! You fucking disgrace!"

"You have no pride, you trash!"

"You still dare to call yourself a Zwerger smith?! You deserve to be launched into space you liar!"

That guy quickly crawled away and another Zwerger picked up the personal terminal that Ries had thrown to lob it at him as well, smacking the poor guy in the back of his head and knocking him out.

No one even moved to check on him and simply turned back to face us once again, all of them now looking up at Ries with gazes of respect.

Guess they also take plagiarism seriously here huh?

Well… I'm not even sure if getting these guys to help craft Yumiko's weapon would be a good idea… At this rate we might as well ask Ries to craft it for her…

Just as Ries was about to move on to the next screen, a gruff voice came from behind the crowd.

"What happened here?"

Everyone looked up and I think we were expecting to see guards or something but it turned out to be a rather old looking Zwerger with greying hair standing behind them.

The Zwerger nearest to him tried to explain, "Well… They're looking for a smith to help make--"

He waved the guy away, "I'm not talking about that."

He pushed his way towards the front of the group and looked up at Yumiko who was also staring back at him.

"What happened to the last ones I made you? You lost them or what?"

Oh? Looks like we actually found our guy.
