Wasteland Commander

Chapter 100: The Alliance Arrives

The mining site, also known as the ore refining plant, is a massive building fifty meters long and thirty meters wide.

It features a gigantic chimney at the top, an ore refining furnace at the back, and a massive transportation port at the front, allowing mining trucks to dump ore inside.

This mining site operates entirely mechanized, with computer central control, requiring no workers.

Since the ore is refined and directly converted into money, there's no need for waste disposal.

Along with the appearance of the mining site, a gigantic fan blade appeared on the mountain top in the distance, which is a wind power generation unit used to supply power to the mining site and maintain its operation.

The hyperspace mining vehicle is also unmanned, with a maximum speed of 150 mph, allowing it to navigate complex terrains.

The large metal shovel at the front is similar to the armed mining vehicle, just without the onboard machine gun.

The capacity is slightly smaller compared to the armed mining vehicle, but the high speed makes up for it.

Collecting a truckload of ore brings Ye Fan 500 gold in revenue.

Depending on the distance between the mining site and the gold mining area, approximately five truckloads of ore can be collected each day.

2500 gold per day is not much.

Ye Fan opened the virtual tank factory.

After opening it, it indeed unlocked the manufacturing rights for the mining vehicle.

The cost of a hyperspace mining vehicle is 1500 gold.

Ye Fan wanted to produce ten to eight vehicles at once.

However, Nana immediately reminded Ye Fan, "Commander, the mine can only accommodate one vehicle in and out. Two vehicles will suffice; more than that would just line up there."

"Oh, I see, then produce one more," he said.

Fifteen minutes later, the second mining vehicle was produced.

Using the two vehicles alternately could generate 5000 gold in revenue for Ye Fan each day.

It's just not known how much capacity this gold mine still has; it would be great to keep mining for a few more years—a monthly earnings of 150,000 gold, accumulating over time, would amount to a significant sum.

Ye Fan thought of his armed mining vehicle, which he estimated was still in the Shengshi Jiangshan Villa District in Ice City.

That vehicle had thick armor and an anti-theft system, making it impossible for others to drive it away.

However, he presently had no energy to retrieve that vehicle from Ice City, so he had to leave it there for the time being.

With the mining site set up, Ye Fan's construction selection unlocked the physical tank factory.

He now had four types of buildings he could construct.

The tank factory, the ordnance factory, the field hospital, and the military supply warehouse.

The tank factory costs 300,000, the ordnance factory costs 200,000, the field hospital costs 100,000, and the military supply warehouse costs 50,000.

Meanwhile, Ye Fan had 430,000 gold left.

He pondered for a while and still decided to build the tank factory first.

The physical tank factory is a main structure of Red Alert, and a primary site for generating combat power.

Moreover, Nana had mentioned that only after he ranked up to battalion commander and possessed a physical tank factory, could he unlock the tank production option.

Ye Fan really wanted a tank, even a light one would do.

Although 300,000 was a bit steep, it was definitely worth it.

With determination, he selected for the construction of the tank factory.

"Confirm production of the physical tank factory, consuming 300,000 gold, requiring fifty hours to complete. Please be patient, Commander."

Sure enough, being one of the main structures, it required such a lengthy construction time.

However, since the crisis hadn't arrived yet, Ye Fan could just utilize these two-plus days to organize construction and collection tasks more thoroughly.

With the commencement of the tank factory's production, other structures could not be produced temporarily, and Ye Fan left his 130,000 gold untouched, waiting to see what could be produced once the tank factory was ready.

Returning from the mining site to the base, Ye Fan first went to play with Xiaoba in the small water pool.

This big guy felt evidently suffocated staying here, and seeing Ye Fan coming out, immediately bubbled excitedly, waving its claws in greeting.

Ye Fan simply jumped into the water; although he wasn't a great swimmer, he wasn't afraid of drowning with Xiaoba around.

Xiaoba extended its gigantic tentacles, dozens of meters long, throwing Ye Fan from one side to the other, and then back again, much like playing with a ball.

That roller coaster-like thrill was truly an effective emetic method.

Amused, Xiaoba placed Ye Fan atop its head and abruptly surged along the river, more exhilarating than a speedboat.

Water droplets splashed through the air, creating a rainbow.

After a while, Ye Fan called for someone to feed Xiaoba.

This fellow's appetite was comparable to an entire battalion of the Dawn Army.

After filling its stomach, Xiaoba slapped the water surface a couple of times, directly sending several big fish onto the shore, all wild freshwater fish, their taste exquisite.

Carrying the fish, Ye Fan decided to send them to his parents and sister to improve their meals.

Heading out from the core base, the main city was as bustling as ever.

Once the main troops returned, the construction craze peaked; only a few hours had passed, yet several makeshift houses had sprung up.

He handed the fish to Shen Ruihui for delivery, while Ye Fan walked around the city with the others.

They bypassed the material recycling station, where hardened asphalt roads lay underfoot.

This section was a key area and had been completed.

Continuously, people transported materials back to the recycling station; whether gathered by the army or survivors, they were sent to the recycling station and transported to the core urban area via conveyor belt.

Passing the recycling station, not far ahead was the trade market.

The area had been planned, with infrastructure construction underway, though the market's appearance was yet to be seen.

Seeing Ye Fan approaching, everybody greeted him.

Ye Fan even saw the group of delivery guys, with Sun Daochang beaming, "Commander Ye, the wisest decision I made was joining the Dawn Army. Seeing this, I feel there's hope for rebuilding civilized society."

"Haha! Work hard; the Dawn Army won't mistreat its own."

"Alright, guys, let's put in the effort and build the trade market. Once it's done, we'll continue delivering goods; we've got the courier work for the inner and outer cities, haha!"

Smiling, Ye Fan walked past them, reaching near the main city's gate.

The guard on the tower and the soldier on duty at the gate saluted him simultaneously.

Ye Fan waved to signal them to continue their duties, exiting the inner city gate.

The outer city district was also in full swing with massive construction, leveling land, and road infrastructure, which was intensively underway.

The area here was more expansive, up to tens of square kilometers, and the project was not something that could be completed in a day or two.

Watching the construction scene, he was gratified when suddenly receiving a report from the radar station soldier.

"Commander, there's a vehicle approaching our area, only ten kilometers away from you."

Today, blue dots appeared in the radar area, indicating the survivors heading this way, although the radar's range was fifty kilometers, they would still need some time to get here.

Amidst the apocalypse, roads were blocked, and vehicles weren't as easy to navigate; some people ran out on foot, hiding everywhere.

And those arriving so quickly now had undoubtedly driven over.

Ye Fan immediately entered the city and climbed up the watchtower beside the city wall.

Using his keen eyesight, he observed in the distance and immediately saw the approaching vehicle.

On the distant road, a Shepherd SUV sped towards them.

Through the car window, Ye Fan could even see the driver was that eagle-hooked nose, with Tax Officer Wang Dashan sitting in the front passenger seat.

A few other individuals were in the backseat, whom he had never seen before.

Wang Dashan excitedly turned back to converse with these people about something.

"Oh, they arrive quite quickly. It seems the Survivor Alliance has reached some consensus, huh?"

Ye Fan was indeed welcoming to these visitors.

They just wanted him to join the alliance—weren't they just thinking about making calculations against him?

Fine, bring the money first; Ye Fan was also very curious to see what tricks these individuals could come up with.
