Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 59, Hope Rekindled

The pure Cosmic Energy accumulated by the Ancient Saint for over ten thousand years, along with the knowledge contained within, was entirely absorbed by the black-haired man's phantom, until nothing was left.

The Ancient Saint's device completely lost power and ceased operation, then the black-haired man's Longsword fell, turning this Ancient Saint's relic into ruins.

"Are you full, Father?" Laine casually sat down nearby, joking with his father.

"...Not enough."

"What?! Even this isn't enough?" Laine looked pained: "Father, this is the Ancient Saint's treasure collected over countless years! This Cosmic Energy is enough to transform an ordinary person into a Demigod!"

"Not enough, this Cosmic Energy is only enough to heal my soul, which has been torn and tormented for over ten thousand years. To heal my decayed and withered body, I need more energy," the black-haired man quietly shook his head.

"Then what should I do?" Laine asked sarcastically: "Father, do you want to drain the entire world?"

"No... According to the knowledge I've gained, the Ancient Saint doesn't just have this one device." The black-haired man paused his actions, having absorbed such massive Cosmic Energy, his golden phantom almost condensing into a physical form: "There are more devices in this world, continue searching for them."

"Alright, I understand, Father." Laine nodded: "The Ancient Saint has built up millions of years of accumulation, even more, its funeral money is certainly more than just this."

"...However, there's also good news. In the Ancient Saint's technology, I found information about their unique Net Dao construction technique. After more than eleven thousand years of unending battles with Demons, my soul and spirit can finally have a brief respite." The black-haired man exhaled lightly, his towering figure walked to Laine's side: "This is thanks to you, my son."

"In that case, Father, are you currently occupied?" Laine's face looked rather pale, as five continuous hours of Spiritual Energy infusion left him feeling exhausted like an oil lamp running dry.

The black-haired man waved his large hand, golden radiance shone upon the White Wolf Knight, restoring his strength and dispelling his fatigue: "What do you want to say, Laine?"

"I mean, Father, can I ask you a few questions?" Laine rubbed the back of his head, asking casually.

"I can see your mind is filled with various doubts, doubts lead to thinking, thinking leads to heresy." The black-haired man's tone remained as constant as eternal ice, but seeing Laine's somewhat pale face, the man still nodded: "However, you have already proven your will and courage, go ahead and ask, and I will try to answer you."

"Father, why did you choose me?" Laine asked first.

"When you appeared before me, I knew you were the most precious gift the Subspace presented to me." The black-haired man quietly looked at Laine: "Unlike all other creations, what appeared before me was a perfect and flawless... human."

"Perfect and flawless?"

"Yes, perfect and flawless. Subspace and the real world are inseparable; when a newborn's first cry rings out, it signifies that he has already established a fundamental connection with Subspace, but I can't see such a link from you, Laine, so you are a complete, uncontaminated pure human." The black-haired man stated with absolute certainty, Laine had the illusion that any absurd and bizarre words, once spoken by his father's mouth, would transform into sacred truth: "So, Father, you chose me?"

"Exactly, my genes have perfectly integrated into your body, you are as perfect as a smooth egg, no matter how the Power of Chaos wants to corrupt you, it can never break through your eggshell." The black-haired man continued: "The only way is to immerse this egg in sewage over long periods, slowly permeating it. Some of your brothers underwent this process; when they were still infants, Chaos immersed them in polluted water, gradually corrupting their inner being, but this has no effect on you anymore because you have grown smoothly under my watchful eye to this day, Chaos corruption can no longer erode your heart."

"Even so, I still don't understand my uniqueness." Laine shook his head, clearly not accepting this explanation.

"You have another unique trait, Laine. After years of using Spiritual Energy, you should understand your peculiarity... your special constitution can absorb the Power of Chaos and transform it into the purest Subspace Energy, which provides the possibility for my future plan to reverse corruption." The black-haired man continued: "You can easily withstand my Spiritual Awareness conversations, which is extremely important."

"Alright, so I'm that incredible?" Laine chuckled self-mockingly, seeming to accept this explanation, but he quickly put forward his second question: "Father, just like the rumors, if you are removed from the Golden Toilet, can you escape the shackles and reincarnate successfully?"

"Yes, and no." The response was still cold.

"???" A string of question marks appeared above Laine's head.

"My Spiritual Awareness has battled within Subspace for the survival of humanity for over eleven thousand years against those terrifying beings. In the real world, my body has already decayed; if I leave the Golden Throne, humanity could no longer resist the dreadful darkness. My life is an endless torment, but I must persevere. Any slight relaxation would allow Demons to directly invade the physical universe; frenzied and terrifying Subspace Chaos Energy would inundate the entire Physical Universe. Thus, as long as my body can hold on, I will burn until the last moment of my life. I am the Emperor, was in the past, am in the present, and will continue into the future."
