Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 43, Battle on the Ice (Part 1)

When the White Wolf Knight rushed out of the tower, this was the scene he witnessed.

From beyond the mountain, accompanied by the blaring and furious sound of horns, hordes of Beastmen appeared on the horizon. Minotaurs advanced in neat steps, scores of Horned Beasts moved their robust bodies, and Chaos War Dogs stormed into the convoy's camp, savagely tearing apart the limbs of mercenaries and guards.

On the enormous horns of the leading Beast King was impaled a human head, and Laine recognized it — it was the head of Gray Blade Billger.

Dividing the troops was truly a foolish idea.

Under the Beast King's command, the Beastmen rushed into the battlefield in groups, breaking through the mercenaries' fragile defenses. Rusty axes were stained with human blood, and the convoy, which originally had only twenty to thirty people left, was once again heavily hit. The seemingly endless onslaught of Beastman Warband nearly drove everyone to despair.

Mather felt the barrel of his gun heating up, his mind growing darker. Without a night's sleep and one battle after another, this ordinary High-Tier guard felt his hands and feet tingling, body sore and powerless. Just as he raised his Fire Cannon, he was directly sent flying by an oncoming Minotaur.

Oliver's personal guard fell like a rag far away, his Long Fire Cannon dropping not far from him. Mather felt as if his body was falling apart, pain spread all over, yet he knew he couldn't fall now. He struggled to crawl on the ground, desperately trying to reach for his Long Fire Cannon.

The hand clad in a leather glove slowly reached for that Long Fire Cannon.

The distance between his palm and the Fire Cannon grew ever closer, with all his remaining strength, Mather tried to touch the Fire Cannon.

A black, thick bull hoof stomped down, crushing the Fire Cannon, and Mather's hand made a cracking sound.

It was the Beast King! With its giant horns, the Beast King stomped the Fire Cannon to pieces. It sneered as it slightly twisted its split hooves, the sound of bones being crushed mixing with the guard's screams, shocking the hearts of all the humans present. The Beast King, with its giant horns, lifted Mather's body like a chick and, in full view, tore him in half. The hot blood dripped onto the land, making hissing sounds, and this horrifying scene altered the expressions of everyone present.

Human morale was collapsing, but reason still told them not to run, as they would die even faster. They fought and retreated, crossing the frozen river, desperately trying not to be drowned by the filthy tide of Beastmen.

"Foolish… humans!" The corpse was thrown by the Beast King into the beast horde, Razor Beasts and Chaos War Dogs pounced on it, leaving nothing but shattered flesh and bones flying into the sky.

Along with Mather's fresh head.

"Lady Trovik, run quickly, I'll cover you." Little Mercenary Banda swung his two-handed greatsword in despair, barely blocking a Horned Beast's cleaver, kicking it away, he turned back and said.

"Run, where can we escape to?" Teresa looked pale, hurriedly taking out a potion and gulping it down, then raised her Magic Staff high. The blue Magic Energy once again triggered a powerful Blizzard, instantly shredding several Horned Beasts and dozens of Inferior Horned Beasts. The Minotaurs at the forefront also had to temporarily back off.

Ice Cones in the air fell like torrential rain, the intense snowstorm growing stronger in the winter environment,

This forced both sides in battle apart, seemingly dragging the situation into a stalemate again. However, Teresa knew in her heart that her Mana was limited. After casting Soul Roar yesterday, her Mana was now insufficient to cast another Blizzard.

Laine, where are you?

After a slight hesitation, the female sorcerer said softly, "Run."

"Huh?" The entire convoy looked at the female sorcerer in disbelief. Oliver asked incredulously, "Lady Trovik, what did you say?"

"I said, I will raise an Ice Barrier. Use this time to run quickly!" The female sorcerer looked determined, turning back to face Viert of the Blood Axe Mercenary Corps: "Viert, I promised you an explanation, and I'll give it to you now. I cannot abandon Laine who is still in the tower; leave this to me!"

"But~" The convoy hesitated with their words, but their wandering eyes betrayed their true thoughts.

"No more talking! If you're leaving, do it quickly! My Blizzard is ending!" Teresa said calmly, "I have my own way to escape."

No sooner had the female sorcerer finished speaking than the entire convoy fled in panic, even the most admiring Little Mercenary Banda was forcibly taken by Viert in his stubbornness. They rode on horseback, fleeing continuously, abandoning their goods, with only Rost carrying a box containing the Sea Heart Stone.

The figures of the convoy members turned into black dots fading into the distance. When the last black dot vanished from the female sorcerer's sight, the Blizzard ended with a howl.

"Charge! Charge! Kill them! Kill them all!!!" The Beast King swung his weapon vigorously, the Beastmen's faces filled with bloodthirsty glee.

Teresa chanted a spell, and a massive ice wall rose in place along the frozen river. Beastmen crashed into the ice wall, its spikes piercing their bodies, while more Beastmen used war axes and long spears to attack the ice wall fiercely, especially the Beast King. Each of its swings caused more cracks on the ice wall.

"Why aren't you running?" Teresa carefully took out a Scroll, the surging Magic Power on this Scroll could instantly return her to Celestial Vault Castle. The female sorcerer was about to tear it open when she noticed Amelia standing behind her, the slender female mercenary's figure and golden hair fluttered in the aftermath of the Blizzard, swaying like plum blossoms in the heart of winter.
