Chapter 380: Handing over the princess
Imperial Palace, Dragon Island;
Everyone gathered in the courtroom for the morning assembly.
His ever-loyal eldest prince, Reuben Draconus, the Platinum Dragon, and the fifth prince Frost Draconus, the Ice Dragon were right now, kneeling in the middle of the courtroom.
The youngest twin brothers were sitting in their seats with a look of fear on their faces.
As usual, two seats that belonged to Averil and Egan were kept empty for the past few decades.
The seats of Kyla and the second prince were also empty as they decided not to return to the palace.
Along with them, several seats that belonged to the elder dragons were also empty. Only two elder dragons were left within the hall. Unlike the princes, they weren't given punishment even though they took part in this faction business.
This is the difference between a red dragon and others. While the Dragon King could still punish the red dragons, they were still the symbol of purity.
He couldn't disgrace them in front of others after knowing that the six of them already disappeared. The remaining five were needed to stay loyal to the kingdom to face the invasion of the wild beasts from the endless ocean and endless sky.
With several seats empty, the courtroom was only filled with a few ministers and an audience that stood in the back.
Looking at the two of his children, the Dragon King spoke coldly, "do you admit your mistake, Reuben, Frost?"
"Yes." Their voices echoed together. "We're willing to face the punishment."
"Good." The Dragon King nodded in satisfaction, "considering the two of two given up yourselves and admit the mistake of trying to vie the throne in my absence, I'll make your punishment, light. Reuben, your punishment is to work in Bragghim mines for a month like a commoner. Do you accept?"
The eldest prince kowtowed, "Thank you for the mercy, Your Majesty."
"And you, frost." The Dragon then looked at the fifth prince, the only Ice dragon within the island. "You will work in the mines of Norwich under your nephew, Qelrit Draconus for a month. Do you accept?"
Frost stayed silent. He didn't give any reply and continued to look down.
"I asked, do you accept the verdict?" The Dragon shouted in anger. Everyone flinched in fear, including Frost.
Only Reuben and the elder dragons weren't intimidated. They were calm.
The fifth prince bit his lip in frustration and nodded. Just as he was about to accept it, suddenly, a couple of royal knights entered the courtroom and made the audience clear the way.
"Hmm?" The Dragon King frowned as he looked straight.
"What's going on?" He asked them.
Before the Royal knight replies him, a cloud appeared in the view upon which unconscious Kyla was present, bound by energy chains.
A smile appeared on the Dragon King as he stood up, "You are finally here. I was waiting for you."
However, his words weren't directed at his daughter but towards the man that was walking beside the cloud.
Originally, Wil was on his way with Leon but after watching the reactions of mere gatekeepers, he thought everyone would go frenzy if he brought the lion into the palace.
So, while climbing the hill, Wil dismissed the winged lion and summoned the cloud to carry the princess as he doesn't wish to carry her by himself nor he wished to hand her over to someone.
And naturally, everyone was surprised regarding a lot of things. First, their unconscious princess; second, a member of the Eucliffe clan of level-300; and third is a cloud that was supposed to fly in the sky was carrying their princess.
"Reuben and Frost, both of you give the way to our esteemed guest."
Both of the princes stood up and moved aside as they were ordered while the supposed guest stopped in the middle and greeted him as a formality, "Greetings, Your Majesty. I came here just like you asked me. On the way, I saw her destroying the city of Ozreigh. At first, I want to kill her, but after recognizing her identity, I decided to bring her with me. I heard she was a rebel, so, I had to prison her with these energy chains. I hope you won't get offended because of it."
The Dragon King only burst into laughter in response, "No, I don't mind. She actually deserves it. I should be grateful to you as you had done a huge favor on me, once again."
Addressing everyone, the old man continued, "This person standing before you is my savior. He not only saved me from the imprisonment of those traitorous elders, but now, she also brought this rebellious child of mine."
He then told him to release her.
As Wil picked her up and handed it to Iphi's father, Reuben, the energy chains around her disappeared on their own while a notification sound rang in his head.
*Ding! You completed the quest, Capture Princess Kyla. You received an evolution stone as a reward.
*Ding! Favorability with Owen increased by 10 points
"Another Evolution stone? Now, that's cool." Wil was satisfied with the quest reward. Since the Dragon King seemed to be very happy, he decided to talk about the little dragon princess that was currently imprisoned in his ship.
However, right then, the princess slowly opened her eyes.
She found herself in the arms of Reuben. "Eh? Eldest Brother?"
Then, her eyes fell on the imposing figure of her majestic father. "Fa… Father?"
She was surprised to find herself back at the Imperial Palace. While she was angered at the invader who defeated her and then, captured her, right now, she couldn't afford to think about him.
"Kyla, it's been a while," Reuben was happy that she was alright. After all, he could sense that her life fore is extremely low.
As soon as he kept her down, she silently stared towards the floor.
The Dragon King then spoke to her in a serious tone, "Do you wish to say anything?"
Like her younger brother Frost, she too kept silent.
"I asked, whether you wished to say anything about betraying the throne and dismissing my order of returning to the palace?" the Dragon King's voice rose.
Maybe, it's because she's his daughter and not a son, he was a little bit soft on her.
However, Kyla refused to beg for forgiveness.
Looking at her silence, the Dragon King felt that she no longer respect him.
His blood boiled in anger. All he wanted to see that she was sorry for her actions. He will surely forgive her.
But, she didn't do as he expected.
The Dragon King carried out his punishment. "You will serve as one of the guards in the Prison of Bragghim for a whole year."
Upon hearing the sentence, Kyla raised her face abruptly and looked at him in shock. Everyone else also has a similar expression.
Only Wil who doesn't know what it is had a look of confusion on his face.
"Father, I request you not to give her such a harsh punishment." Reuben immediately kneeled and begged to forgive his sister.
Even one of the elder dragons mustered up the courage and voiced out his opinion, "Your Majesty, you know those undying demons hate the royal family to the core. At such a state, sending Princess Kyla to such a place is extremely dangerous."
"Then, Kyla will have to be careful." The Dragon King seemed like he was adamant about his decision. "Take her away."
Having no choice, an elder dragon came forward and sealed her mana. Kyla didn't try to resist the process and just stared at her father full of resentment.
As the two generals grabbed her arms and turned around, her eyes finally fell on Wil, who had a bright smile on his face because of a generous reward.
"You… It's you…" She erupted in anger after holding it for the past couple of minutes.
She forcefully freed herself from the generals and lunged at him with raising her hands that changed to that of a dragon's.
"Stop…" The Dragon King roared in anger as his wings opened up.
Just then, Wil raised his hand towards the princess. "Heavenly Push, activate. 0 mana."
A gust of wind was generated from his palm.
It pushed not only Kyla but also the two generals, Reuben, Frost, and the elder dragon that was also standing in the same direction.
All of them in the path were blown away and crashed onto the walls before they fell on the floor, one after the other.
