Wanda Maximoff Multiversal Harem Hunter

Chapter 55: Aftermath And Reassurance

The tunnels were eerily quiet as Wanda and the group returned, the faint echoes of their footsteps a reminder of how deep they were in the earth. The rescued Morlocks shuffled behind Callisto, their faces a mix of relief and exhaustion. Marrow walked beside them, her eyes darting nervously, while Natasha brought up the rear, her sharp gaze sweeping their surroundings for any sign of lingering threats.

Wanda stayed close to Callisto, her hands faintly glowing with crimson magic as she extended barriers to shield the group from potential ambushes. The battle at the industrial complex had taken a toll on everyone, but there was no time to let their guard down.

"Almost there," Callisto muttered, her voice low and rough. "The safe zone isn't far."

"I'll keep my magic up until we're sure," Wanda said calmly.

Callisto glanced at her, her expression unreadable. "You came through back there. I didn't think you would, but… you did."

"You sound surprised," Wanda said, raising an eyebrow.

"Experience has taught me to be," Callisto replied bluntly. "People like you don't stick around when things get hard."

Wanda stopped walking, turning to face Callisto fully. "That's not who I am. I don't leave people behind, and I don't make promises I can't keep. Sokovia isn't just a place for me—it's a chance for everyone like us to build something better."

Callisto studied her for a long moment before nodding slowly. "We'll see."

When they reached the main chamber of the Morlocks' hideout, the tension began to ease. The rescued mutants found places to sit or lie down, their exhaustion catching up with them. Wanda, Natasha, and Callisto stood near the center, surveying the scene.

"Some of them need medical attention," Wanda said softly, stepping toward a young mutant with a burn on his shoulder. "Let me help."

The mutant flinched as Wanda approached, his wide eyes filled with fear. "What are you going to do?"

"Just this," Wanda said gently, holding out her hands. Fractures crimson tendrils extended from her fingers, enveloping the burn in a soft glow. The wound began to heal, the raw skin knitting together until it looked uninjured.

The mutant stared at his arm, then at Wanda, his fear replaced by awe. "Thank you," he whispered.

"Anyone else?" Wanda asked, looking around.

One by one, other injured Morlocks stepped forward, their wariness giving way to hope as Wanda healed their wounds with her her symbiote's help. Natasha leaned against the wall, watching with a faint smile.

"You're good at this," Natasha said softly as Wanda approached her.

"At what?" Wanda asked, her tone light.

"Reassuring people," Natasha replied, her smirk widening. "Not just with your magic, but with the way you talk to them. You make them believe things can get better."

Wanda glanced at her, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Is that your way of giving me a compliment?"

"Take it however you want, Maximoff," Natasha teased.

Fracture's voice hummed in Wanda's mind. **"She's right, you know. You're proving that leadership isn't just about power—it's about trust. Keep going."**

Once the wounded were cared for, Callisto pulled Wanda aside. Her usual sharpness was replaced by a rare vulnerability as she spoke. "You're serious about Sokovia?"

Wanda nodded. "I am. It's not perfect, and it won't solve everything overnight. But it's a place where your people won't have to live in the shadows. They'll have safety, resources, and the freedom to be who they are."

"And what about your people?" Callisto asked. "How do I know they won't treat us like outcasts? We've faced nothing but hatred everywhere we've gone."

Wanda's gaze softened. "I know what that's like. Sokovia's been through hell—years of war, oppression, and loss. The people there understand what it means to rebuild, to survive. They'll accept you because they know what it's like to be rejected."

Callisto's lips pressed into a thin line. "You're asking me to trust a lot."

"I'm asking you to trust me," Wanda said, her voice steady. "And if you come to Sokovia and don't like what you see, I won't stop you from leaving. But at least give it a chance. Your people deserve that much."

Callisto exhaled slowly, her shoulders relaxing slightly. "You're convincing, I'll give you that. But I'm not sold yet."

"Then let me prove it to you," Wanda replied with a faint smile.

As the group began to settle for the night, Natasha approached Wanda, handing her a canteen of water. "You're doing well, Maximoff."

"Thanks to you," Wanda said, taking a sip.

Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What did I do?"

"You've been keeping me grounded," Wanda admitted. "I don't think I could've gotten this far without you."

Natasha's smirk softened into a genuine smile. "You'd do just fine on your own, but I'm glad to be here."

The two stood in companionable silence for a moment before Natasha added, "So, Sokovia. You think it'll be enough for them?"

"It has to be," Wanda said quietly. "If it's not, then I've failed them before they even arrive."

"You haven't failed anyone," Natasha said firmly. "You're doing something no one else has. That counts for a lot."

Fracture's voice broke into Wanda's thoughts, its tone warm. **"She's not wrong. You're leading them somewhere they can finally belong. That's worth everything."**

Wanda smiled faintly. "Let's just hope Callisto sees it that way."

The calm didn't last long. A Morlock scout rushed into the chamber, his face pale. "There's movement topside. Looks like Project X isn't finished."

Callisto swore under her breath, gripping her spear tightly. "They're not going to stop, are they?"

"No," Wanda said, her expression hardening. "But neither are we. Let's reinforce the tunnels and make sure they don't get another chance to attack."

Natasha cracked her knuckles, her grin sharp. "And if they try, we'll make them regret it."

Callisto glanced at Wanda, a glimmer of respect in her eyes. "You've got guts, Maximoff. Maybe you're not so bad after all."

"Don't let that go to my head," Wanda said with a smirk.

"Too late," Natasha muttered, earning a laugh from Wanda.

As the group began preparing for the next potential attack, Wanda felt a spark of hope. They weren't out of danger yet, but for the first time, it felt like they were moving toward something better, a future where they could finally live free.
