Villian: let's break the engagement, but I don't want any regrets

Chapter 6: is too ordinary, isn’t there anything stronger?

The Jiang family's beast breeding base was located behind the manor.

This area housed a structure resembling an experimental research facility.

Inside were various rare beasts collected by the Jiang family over the years, including eggs that had yet to hatch.

The facility also held a wealth of rare beast-control materials and resources, making it a true treasure trove for the Jiang family.

The Dream Bear Taming Beast Egg that Jiang Nian once gave to Chen Muxue had been obtained from this very place.

As Jiang Nian entered the base, a middle-aged man wearing a white coat and glasses quickly approached him.

"Master, are you here to select a beast to control?"

This man was Lin Te, the person in charge of the Jiang Family's Royal Beast Training Base.

"Ah," Jiang Nian replied with a slight nod. "Bring me all the beasts with the highest bloodlines and the strongest potential currently in the base!"

"Understood!" Lin Te answered respectfully and turned to head deeper into the base.

Meanwhile, Jiang Nian settled himself leisurely on a sofa in the hall and waited patiently.

During this time, servants promptly brought him tea and snacks without any hesitation.

Taking advantage of the moment, Jiang Nian opened a door of light and summoned the beast he was already contracted with.

[Name]: Moon Chasing Dog (Infancy)

As he looked at the dog-like beast in front of him, which resembled a Samoyed, Jiang Nian couldn't help but feel speechless.

Of course, the type of beast that a "Licking Dog" liked would also be a dog!

After all this time, the Moon Chasing Dog had only reached the third level of ordinary beasts. Meanwhile, other beast masters of Jiang Nian's grade had already reached at least the fifth level.

Even Ye Chao, the so-called "child of destiny," currently controlled a beast at the seventh level of ordinary strength!

The more Jiang Nian thought about it, the more it became clear just how unmotivated the previous owner of this beast had been.

However, Jiang Nian's decision to change his contracted beast wasn't just because the Moon Chasing Dog was weak. Its abilities were far too situational—its full potential could only be unleashed under moonlight.

As the dignified young master of the Jiang family, Jiang Nian found it unacceptable to be tied to such a limited beast.

Even with its king-level pedigree, Jiang Nian wasn't interested.

If he was going to change beasts, it had to be for something with unparalleled potential!

Resolving this, Jiang Nian didn't hesitate. He terminated the contract with the Moon Chasing Dog and instructed the staff to take it away.

As a beast master, breaking a contract with a beast wasn't something to be taken lightly. The longer the contract, the greater the impact it had on the beast master's strength.

In some cases, it could even result in a regression of power.

Fortunately for Jiang Nian, his bond with the Moon Chasing Dog was still relatively new and weak, making it easy to sever the contract without significant consequences.

After about ten minutes, Lin Te returned with a group of beasts.

Each one was a rare cub with a king-level pedigree.

Any one of these beasts would fetch millions if sold on the market, but for the Jiang family, they were commonplace.

"Master, would you like me to introduce them to you?" Lin Te asked respectfully.

"No need," Jiang Nian replied, standing up. "I'll inspect them myself."

Walking over to the group of beasts, Jiang Nian activated the Eye of Apocalypse and began examining their details one by one.

...

Although these king-level beasts had great potential and could grow into formidable creatures, Jiang Nian wasn't impressed.

For ordinary people, any one of these beasts would be an unattainable treasure.

But Jiang Nian was the young master of the Jiang family.

To him, these beasts were far too ordinary.

"Uncle Lin, are these really the only king-level cubs in the base right now? Is there nothing else?" Jiang Nian asked, clearly dissatisfied.

He chose to focus on cubs rather than fully grown beasts because his current abilities as a trainee beast master wouldn't allow him to control more developed creatures.

Beasts grew through stages—infancy, growth, maturity, and completion. With each stage, their power increased significantly.

A king-level beast in its infancy, given time and care, would inevitably reach king-level strength in its fully grown form.

However, the strength of the beast master also determined what kind of beasts they could contract.

As a trainee beast master, Jiang Nian could only control beasts at the ordinary level. Hence, he could only choose king-level cubs that hadn't yet matured.

"Master," Lin Te began, scratching his head awkwardly, "these are the best king-level cubs in the base. The others are far inferior to these.

"I specifically selected this group for you. Are none of them to your liking?"

"If you're still not satisfied, you might have to wait a while. Many eggs have yet to hatch.

"As for beasts with bloodlines beyond king level, the base currently doesn't have any."

Hearing this, Jiang Nian sighed.

"To be honest, these beasts are too ordinary. Take me to see the rest. If I don't find anything suitable, I'll leave it for now."

Lin Te quickly led Jiang Nian deeper into the base.

Soon, they arrived at the animal breeding grounds.

Here, beasts with gentler temperaments roamed freely in groups, while more aggressive ones were kept in isolated enclosures.

Perhaps due to Jiang Nian's natural affinity as a beast master, many of the beasts became visibly excited upon seeing him.

However, just as Lin Te had mentioned, the beasts here weren't as impressive as the ones he'd already shown Jiang Nian.

Some had physical defects, while others had talents that didn't even reach level B.

Jiang Nian, unsurprisingly, dismissed them all.

But he wasn't too disappointed.

If the base didn't have what he was looking for, he could simply ask his mother, Lin Shuyue, the chairman of the Ten Thousand Beasts Group. With her resources, acquiring a more powerful beast master would be a matter of minutes.

Just as Jiang Nian was about to leave, something caught his attention.

He stopped in front of a cage and looked at it curiously.

Inside was a small monkey with fiery red fur and well-defined muscles.

The creature looked extremely irritable, baring its teeth and shaking the cage incessantly.
