Chapter 24: Blood Item: Warm cloth!
"Last I remember, I am the leader of this group not you. This is the last time you disrespect that authority, do you understand?" Jacob's eyes were filled with killing intent, the tip of his sword, drawing slight blood on Draziel's neck
Draziel's mouth curled upwards.
He held Jacob's gaze, pure fighting intent glistened through his pupils like a wild fire.
However, Draziel managed to curb it and slowly nodded his head. "Alright, we will do as you say."
Jacob's jaws were clenched tightly as his sword remained on Draziel's neck even after he seem to have agreed.
"You understood my signal at the second floor yesterday, why didn't you act?" Draziel's grin widened, revealing sharp rows of teeth as he heard Jacob said this.
"Hehe, just because." Draziel laughed and replied with a shrug. This made Jacob frown even deeper. It was at this moment he soon realized just what sort of person he was dealing with.
Withdrawing his blade, he gave a sidelong glance at the others. "Daveen, gather some of the survivors and toss the corpses off the building through the broken glass walls."
"Glinda, go check out the store and make sure everything is accounted for."
"Katniss, get the lady off her brother, we don't want her to get infected and take off his face mask, we need it in case we find other survivors." Within the blink of an eye, Jacob had gone back to giving orders, even more efficient than before.
The executives scattered and got to doing their jobs. Before leaving, Katniss gave Draziel an intense glare. She wasn't ready to let things rest and Draziel would most likely appreciate it.
Finally, the rest got to work leaving Draziel and Jacob standing at the hall way.
"Thank you." Although he said this, his expression was still cold.
"For what?" Draziel asked, still slight amused by him.
"For taking care of the zombies or the situation would have gotten a-lot worse than this." Jacob seem like the type to know when to be grateful and learning when to be ruthless. Draziel was suitably impressed. Jacob might just have the qualities of becoming a leader, but he wasn't very ruthless.
"What are you going to do about Jonathan?" Draziel diverted the topic.
"I'm going to find him, and when I do, that scum will pay for what he did." Jacob said grimly.
Draziel nodded and didn't say anymore as he headed for the locked stair door.
"Where are you headed to?"
"To gather evolution points." With that, Draziel closed the door behind him and headed for ground floor.
...
[In cold blood, you have murdered Frank Ryzen. Iron knife (common) dropped]
[1x fold return has been successfully triggered!]
[You have received the same item: Iron knife!]
Draziel expressionlessly tossed the cloth aside. The effort of killing that young lady's brother wasn't worth it in the least.
[In cold blood, you have murdered Peter Finch. Warm Cloth (common) dropped]
[20x fold return has been successfully triggered!]
[You have received the item: Versace coat!]
"Guess my luck is bad today."
Draziel snorted then left. His main objective this time is to clear the garage. He had cleared the ground floor main hall from all zombies, garnering an impressive amount of evo points which have already been spent.
But Draziel was very careful, the ground floor was connected to the garage by a single door, he didn't want to be attacked from behind, which is why he wanted to clear out the ground floor again from zombies that may have wandered inside.
After a few minutes, the iron door to the ground floor opened and he walked out of it. He was right, there were a few zombies that had managed to walk into the company. And as soon as they spotted him, they made their weird moan and attacked.
Using his two axe, Draziel took care of them easily. He checked around and two others popped up from the sound of fighting. He also took care of those easily and when he saw the place was empty, Draziel turned to leave.
From the corner of his eyes, Draziel spotted the corpse of the Mutated Rat lying in the pool of its own sticky and half dried blood, but he paused, the position of the Mutated Rat had moved. And he could see foot prints marked with the blood of the beast heading out of the company.
"Jonathan." Draziel whispered but he noticed something strange. The head of the mutated rat had a huge bloody hole in it. Which was obviously not caused by Draziel when he killed it, which meant it was someone else who had done it; possibly Jonathan.
But why would he dig up the head though? What was he searching for?
"Scan Target."
[Target scanned... ]
[Type 1 Mutated Rat Corpse]
[Information: Mutated Rat contains large amount of radioactive substance which help mutate the cells within the body. Upon its death, large amounts uncontaminated radiation will gather at its core to form a Nuclei]
[Nuclei contains evolution points ranging from 1 evolution points to 10 evolution points depending on chance.]
[There is also a 1.0 percent chance Nuclei contains its beastly ancestoral genome. Meaning there's a one percent chance of gaining a skill or technique from a Nuclei]
As this information assimilates within Draziel, he felt as though he had swallowed a fly, finding it difficult to settle down.
He couldn't believe after killing such the beast with difficulty, someone else took the gain for his work.
His knuckles cracked as his bones popped. As an incredibly petty person, there's no way he would let this go. Someone has just stolen from him and he wasn't just going to drop this matter as it is.
Looking down at the fading blooded footprint, it was would be very easy to track Jonathan down, but Draziel didn't immediately leave. He controlled his anger and his thoughts process ran through.
Draziel made a few speculations. Jonathan left the premises of the company even with the Licker lurking out there because if there's even a slim chance Jacob or the others managed to escape the ambush, they will come for him and with Katniss's character, she would definitely make him wish he was dead instead.
The second reason is probably because he had gotten a nuclei. But he would need somewhere decent to injest the nuclei which meant that he would not be too far away from here.
