Versatile Mage : Reborn As Mo Fan

Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Zhao Manyan Gets a ‘Treasure’

As they descended the stone steps, it became clear that Jiang Shaoxu was not like other women. Whenever she was alone with a man, she would stay very close, giving off an intimate vibe. To put it bluntly, she liked to tease. She was naturally alluring but not in a petty, calculating way. It wasn't too much, either. In short, you could enjoy her proximity, but if you tried to go further, she'd immediately push you away.

As for whether Mo Fan already had Mu Nu Jiao? Well, he wasn't exactly a saint, and Jiang Shaoxu liked playing with bad guys.

As they descended the stairs, Mo Fan noticed a girl appear ahead of them.

She had a very neat ponytail tied high, with two strands of black hair falling down to her collarbone, exuding a delicate beauty. Her outfit was simple, with soft, muted colors. The most eye-catching thing was a butterfly pattern near her chest, subtly accentuating her curves. She wasn't voluptuous, but her slender figure still made her look curvaceous.

As they brushed past, the girl wanted to say something, but Mo Fan casually used a bit of spatial magic to scare her off, and she quickly ran away.

Jiang Shaoxu noticed Mo Fan enjoying her company but thinking about something else and playfully teased him, "You've got me with you, and you're still thinking about other things?"

"Heh, if you'd let me hold you, I wouldn't be thinking about anything else," Mo Fan replied seriously.

"Dream on!" Jiang Shaoxu shot him a sharp look, clearly annoyed.

This woman loved to laugh, and every move she made was brimming with charm, but her words often carried an air of indifference, like she didn't care about anything.

Still, there was no denying that when she was feeling flirty, it only made her more attractive.

Mo Fan wasn't the possessive type, and he knew that Jiang Shaoxu was just teasing. But there was something about her carefree attitude that stirred something in him.

After a little while, the two of them found themselves walking into the city. After wandering through a dark mountain path, they suddenly found themselves in a lively place.

This town, Xixiong City, was clean and picturesque. There were winding paths, hillside roads, and houses built on either side in a staggered arrangement. Each house had its own small courtyard, with a few old trees where one could spend a peaceful afternoon.

As they strolled down the bustling main street, Jiang Shaoxu bought some skincare products and snacks. Nothing too fancy, but it was clear that she was just a regular young woman after all.

On their way back, they passed by a small tavern at the intersection of two quiet streets, nestled against a small hill. Lanterns hung outside, along with a wooden sign displaying the menu written in Japanese characters.

Jiang Shaoxu, unable to resist, looked at Mo Fan and said, "Let's go have a drink."

After ordering the drinks, Mo Fan asked, "Jiang Shaoxu, I've been wandering around with you all this time. Don't you think you should fulfill one of my small wishes?"

"No way~" Jiang Shaoxu responded with a mischievous smile and a playful look in her eyes.

This woman loved to laugh, and every gesture oozed a mix of seductiveness and playfulness, but there was also an air of disdain as if she found everything trivial.

Still, Mo Fan found himself drawn to her carefree demeanor, even if she wasn't as easy to charm as she appeared.

As they drank the delicate sakura liquor and shared stories from the past, Mo Fan couldn't help but think it would've been a perfect night—if only he liked the taste of the drink. Unfortunately, the alcohol wasn't to his liking, which slightly dampened the mood.

He couldn't understand why Jiang Shaoxu liked this kind of liquor.

Since they were deep in conversation, the tavern owner never had a chance to bring up the topic of the Yanming Temple. In truth, Jiang Shaoxu seemed more interested in Mo Fan than in anything else.

After returning to their lodgings, the two went to their respective rooms to sleep.

Late that night, Mo Fan noticed that Zhao Manyan had sneaked out. Surprised, he used his shadow abilities to quietly follow him.

Seeing Zhao Manyan rush toward the back of the mountain confirmed Mo Fan's suspicions. The magical vessel had chosen Zhao Manyan, which explained the change in their route. There was no need for any dangerous soul-attracting trials; Zhao Manyan had simply been set up by fate.

The night passed uneventfully. The next morning, they paid the monks at the temple and bought their train tickets to continue their journey.

The train took them from the coast into the mainland. The endless mountains on either side of the track appeared blue and purple in the distance. The air in the mountains was clean, much better than expected, and they didn't encounter any monsters along the railway.

It seemed that smaller regions had their advantages.

In a vast country like China, with its diverse monsters, problems could arise at any moment. If a place like Sakura (Japan) had to face such issues, it would've fallen long ago.

"Mo Fan, Mo Fan, guess what? I got a treasure last night," Zhao Manyan said happily as they sat on the train.

"You probably got a wooden fish, right?" Mo Fan said nonchalantly.

"???"

"We have to make a stop in Osaka," Ai Jiangtu suddenly informed the group before Zhao Manyan could figure out how Mo Fan knew.

"Weren't we heading straight to Tokyo?" Zhao Manyan asked, confused.

"We need to have a friendly competition with some of the well-known schools in Japan. The instructors specifically requested it. Osaka has a prominent national school, and before we go to Tokyo, we need to clear Osaka," Ai Jiangtu explained.

"A challenge, huh? That sounds interesting," Guan Yu said eagerly.

Since the start of the mission, he had been looking for opportunities to showcase his strength. Being constantly overshadowed by Mo Fan had made him eager to prove himself.

Jiang Yu wasn't as interested in the competition. Instead, he was more excited about the marine battlegrounds in Japan. "Japan is famous for its sea monsters. I heard Osaka has a renowned marine battleground. If we have time, we should check it out. I hear it's quite a spectacle."

"We'll be visiting the marine battlegrounds in Tokyo for sure, so there's no need to waste time in Osaka. Our main goal here is the national school challenge," Ai Jiangtu said, shaking his head.

"True. Tokyo's marine battleground is one of the four great oceanic battlefields in the world. Osaka can't compare. Let's focus on clearing the national school in Osaka and then head to the real show in Tokyo!" Jiang Yu said excitedly.

Everyone was intrigued by the idea of the marine monsters. After all, apart from Nanrong Ni from the Ocean Academy and Jiang Yu, the others were more familiar with land-based monsters.

Back in China, sea monster outbreaks were rare. The incident in Feiniaoshi City had been an exception, something few had anticipated.

Zhao Zheng had predicted it, but unfortunately, no one had believed him at the time.
