Chapter 5: Party Spoilers
"As I walked towards the window, I heard voices of men I had never heard in the village before and there were many of them. I looked out of the window to clearly see what was happening, that's when I saw the unfamiliar men with their guns shooting down the Balanor and every other person who was trying to fight against them with magic or any weapon. They had attached silencers to their guns that's why only the screams were echoing all over the area. They did not show mercy to anyone who acted against their will. If they told people to get down and one did not in ten seconds they shoot him on the leg as a warning.
Our house was on a high ground than the square that's why I was able to see everything happening 525 meters away from. I saw our neighbors running into their house to hide. Then I heard rumbling from the outside, the sound gave me the chills and my heart was racing more than the fastest car known to man. It was my mother, sister and the others that were outside rushing into the house to hide. As soon as all of them got inside, they barricaded the doors. If we had a hidden basement hiding inside the house could have been the best option. The way things were, the invaders were going to eventually slum into every door in the village until they were sure that they have found all of us. In that chaos we had to find a way out of the village. I figured that if we were to wait any longer, we could need to get through them through a fight. I was that person who have never fought for his life before, let alone fight the unknown. The only fights I had fought were with a person who was holding back and unarmed.
Adventures were supposed to expect the unexpected but I never saw that coming in a million years. Whoever was behind that attack had chose the perfect day for him. Given that Solitaria was not there that day, she could have sucked the blood out of their bodies in a few minutes. I had to become a her that day. I imagined having her intimating tough look on her face and the erect posture that revealed how deadly she was. That's what I mostly did to muster up courage in me, imagining being adventurers who inspired me.
Out of all people in the room, I must have been the only one thinking of asking into the forest to the market to get help. I believed that those invaders were from Laspara, that poorest country, since they came from the southern part and that meant they had burrowed through the mountain to get inside the village. It was far but I had seen the type of weapons they were using, they were not Essentium powered weapons and only poor mercenaries had those kind of weapons. I went to the door to remove the barricades.
"What are you doing , big brother"
"They will find us in here, we have to escape while we still can "
"Have you seen what's happening out there, this is not a movie, we may die if we do something like that"
"What do you think they will do to us if they find us hiding in here, give us food "
They were all reasoning with me but I listened to non of them. The two men that were in the room were scared as shit that they had not said anything or do something to stop me. I went outside where their was a faint of pungent smoky smell of the gunpowder which was bringing in a gloomy atmosphere. They had not reached out place yet so we had time to make an escape. I heard footsteps of a soldier coming from the northeast. He must have went around the house inorder to trick us since our gate was facing the west. I stayed still inorder to listen carefully and count the numbers of the invaders that were coming to the back or front of the house. He was the only one who was present.
I opened the gate and hid behind it waiting for the right moment to strike. As was hearing his footsteps getting louder as he walk closer to the get, I memorized everything I was taught about disarming a person to avoid things from going south. With a the strength that was present in my leg, I kicked his gun as soon as he walked inside. Either my kick was weak or he had the best grip in the world because only his left hand slipped from the gun. He swinged his right hand which had the gun at me, it was a powerful swing yet I managed to dodge. With the reaction time and the speed of the swing, I realized that he was not the combat type. I putted a lot of strength in my right hand to strike his neck. I repeated the same with my left hand when he showed signs of fainting when I first attacked. I successfully knocked him out.
It took his gun and got a closer look at it. It was the FN P90, the least guns to use. It was one of the best Non Essentium Powered (NEP) guns. I had carried the 2.5 kilogram gun, though light weighted, the gun was heavy with the responsibility I had to carry and the fear that was in me. I went back to the people in the house to propose an escape for the second time.
"We should really get away while we still can"
"He is right, if he had not stop that man who knows what would have happened to us"
My little show had paid off, and they finally agreed with fear and uncertainty wandering around in them. I was also scared but the fact that I was carrying a deadly weapon which could fire about 900 rounds per minute and combining that with my accuracy and speed I could fire at an enemy before he could get to me. I had trained with guns before and I got an eight out of ten. This was a little different since the ones I had trained with were paint guns but with the same weight as regular guns.
I was the one in the front leading the way to our salvation. The invader were currently at the village square. The distance between them and us was longer than the distance between us and the forest. I had to be cautious for the ones that might have been near us like the guy from before. Considering that all of the roads which we were passing were empty, I really concluded that they were all in the southern part only. Still I could not come with a good explanation to how that guy got to our house all by himself and that fast.
