Chapter 1526: Revelations (2)
-----
"Hah... Hahahah..."
Lucifer laughed, looking at the Stardust Child and caressing its head as it slept.
"I had imagined there would be a cute reconciliation at the end, but I suppose that's impossible between you two."
"I would die a second time before that!" Lucifer screamed.
"I have no intention nor desire to apologize to him... he made my creator mad, and also he went against our directive... he defied me and wished my destruction, and therefore, I punished him. Using the Fragment of Pandemonium, the Origin of all Demons, he became what you fought."
Oblivion? Pandemonium?
What are these entities? I had no idea they even existed.
Another universe... or several more.
I see.
This entire world, this universe, it wasn't everything there was.
There's something else, something more out there...
And yet, I cannot help but feel like I've seen enough.
And that I've heard enough.
"This truth is what made you mad, Lucifer?" I asked.
"What made me mad was knowing that we were simply failed experiments," Lucifer said. "And my hatred only festered when they used me as a guinea pig one last time, before leaving."
"I would say it was a fitting punishment, you were a bastard," I said.
"Tch! You're siding with him now?!" Lucifer asked angrily.
"I am not siding with anybody," I said. "But answer me something, "God". That being... Oblivion, your maker... he's interested on Spiritias now?"
"Yes, he is," God said, his eye suddenly multiplying into countless mechanical eyes everywhere, and on various angelic figures.
There, I also saw two more, 0-10 and 0-6, which took the form of strange, tentacle-covered angels, waving their hands at me.
"But whenever he'll return, we don't' know... however, as his creation, I must wait for his return. He is the very reason of my existence... and I must ask him personally one day, why he left me..."
At the end, the wrathful God I imagined was never real, he is nothing but a lonely machine, abandoned by his creator.
How ironic...
"As long as you mean no harm to my world or my people, I don't care about you or your children," I said. "And if you ever dare to invade my world again... I will make sure to dismantle you into pieces."
"I understand. I will not go after Spiritias. After all, as I said, it has become this universe's most beautiful world, and the one my maker has become interested in... If anything, we've been working together since the beginning. You've freed Spiritias from Lucifer's invasion, and now the world is left to go on naturally... whatever happens now, it will be your responsibility, and that of your allies."
"The Holy Spirits are there too, you know?"
"Those children... indeed, I suppose Spiritias needs no watchful eyes over it... perhaps in another timeline, we would have fought, but now, there's no reason."
God started moving into the cosmos, rapidly beginning to raise higher and higher through the stars.
"I must depart now... My maker... I can feel his call. Farewell."
And he left, just like that.
"I can't believe it... until the very last moment... Hah... it feels like everything in my life was pointless... you're so lucky, Blake. You have everything now... I am quite jealous."
"..."
I looked at his eyes, as I sighed.
"I see now, what caused you such madness... As someone whose parents abandoned when I was born, I can somewhat understand some of the pain you went through."
"Hm?"
Lucifer raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"What... what are you talking about? So you pity me? Hah... Don't say such stupid things. We are rivals, remember? It's better if it ends this way..."
"I guess you're right. Farewell, Lucifer."
I didn't bother asking him anything anymore, I knew he simply wanted to rest.
I killed him, I defeated him.
Our battle was over, and so were our rivalry.
Whatever Oblivion or Pandemonium were...
I will figure that out on my own, later.
"Goodbye, my dear rival... Thank you for giving me the battle of my life."
Lucifer closed his eyes, disappearing into particles of bright golden light.
The Stardust Child seemed a little sad, looking at the light disappearing.
I walked towards it, caressing its round body.
"It's alright, he's not truly dead, he has become part of me... and of the cosmos. That bastard... I suppose he won a little, by making me feel a tinge of pity for his soul..."
"Pyuuuhh..."
As I sat in the starlight and thought about many things, of what was to come, and what the future awaited me, I slowly opened my eyes.
I don't know how long I've been sleeping, but it wasn't just a single night, my body suffered great damage, and the healing abilities of Elizabeth only healed me slowly.
The damage that bastard of Lucifer inflicted on me was severe...
But I survived.
"Piyaaa! Piipiiii!"
And little Stardust was the first to greet me, the child was bouncing on my chest, annoying me quite a lot.
"Would you let me rest for a bit longer?"
"Pyuuuu!"
The creature seemed angry, and then I saw him fly off through the window, somewhere else...
Slowly, I sat down over the bed, finding out I was...
Back home.
In my parent's house, my room.
Our house had grown quite big over the years, so it was quite literally a huge manor now.
I saw through the window the green grasslands, the blue sky, the shining bright sun, the fluffy white clouds, the faraway mountains, and the village.
The people speaking, talking, laughing, working...
The farmers sowed the soil and harvested their products, others raised animals and took care of cows, pigs, chicken, and goats, and there were also adventurers in the distance, hunting Wild Boars and the occasional Gray Wolf.
Everyone was living their lives.
All my efforts, all of these battles, it was all worth it now...
We saved the world.
"Haaa..."
I looked down, noticing my father was carrying a big basket with fresh vegetables, my siblings were playing with the farm animals, and my mother was sewing together with my grandmother.
I wonder where everyone else is.
I walked towards the bathroom, washed my face, and took a bathroom before finally feeling confident walking outside.
I looked around, hearing people talking downstairs.
And as I walked to the first floor, I found them.
