Chapter 1240: Revealing The Truth
-----
"Project New Humanity originally started as our personal project. Something we funded with our own money, and something not even the governments wanted to do on their own."
"It was due to us pushing the idea that it began… And we regret it greatly now."
"We only had good intentions, however. We wanted humanity to evolve and reach new heights. The planet and even the solar system by themselves only have a limited time."
"Once it's all over, humanity will be left behind, and all of its legacy forgotten."
Blake nodded, hearing the Elders on their "younger" selves, before they became ruthless, insane mummies inside of black mechanical coffins.
When they still had some humanity inside of them.
"At first we studied the addition of small cells with animals."
"Rats, insects, fish, mollusks."
"Some showed mutations and became feral creatures and were swiftly disposed."
"Others showed more adaptations, over time, some species of rats could live with the cells inside and give birth to enhanced children."
"The enhanced children continued assimilating the cells, almost creating perfect specimens after some generations…"
"Once we tried it on willing humans, the results were incredible."
"They showed variable shapes and sizes, some became larger or others much smaller." Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire
"Some gained incredible physical power, capable of lifting things tens of tons heavy."
"Some awakened psychic abilities, able to lift objects with telekinesis or even speak into people's minds!"
"But at the end…"
Blake glanced at them while squinting his eyes.
"At the end?"
"At the end, several of these people ended turning against us."
"What? How?" he asked.
"The cells inside of their bodies, they still affected them somewhat."
"Back then, we had no idea that the Xenoids possessed hive minds."
"Even the smallest of cells that multiplies inside of another body would eventually develop a consciousness and mind shared with their hivemind."
"And so, these people were overtaken by such minds, and plotted to destroy our facilities, now having become more Xenoid than Humans."
"It was ultimately our fault at the end, that we even began such a thing."
"The accident occurred, and they fought against us, destroying everything on their wake, and ultimately creating an immense catastrophe."
"We managed to escape at time, but most of the people in the facility died… and then that explosion happened."
"One of the reactor areas exploded, it was where one of the fragments of the mother core was. Now they must be ruins in the middle of the desert."
"The explosion killed the humanoid Xenoid inside, but their bodies exploded with the electromagnetic energies."
"We theorize that this created a cloud of Xenoid Cells, resilient enough to survive the explosion and travel through the clouds of energy into the sky."
"After this… well, a rain that started it all began."
"Most living beings started mutating into monstrosities, and so the catastrophe started."
"That is… not everything though."
"After that, we gathered selected few of humanity, and placed them inside cryogenic sleep pods."
"For hundreds of years…"
"We were also part of this group. Only recently, in the last ten years we've woken up, finding a world overtaken by nature, and more dangerous than ever before."
"I see…" Blake nodded. "Now everything is much clearer."
"With that said, I suppose things are prepared, right?" Eleanora asked by Blake's side.
Using her in-game Avatar, she was visible to everyone.
"Yes, it is," nodded one of the Elders. "Let's begin the great revelation, and the advent of our new… well, I suppose you're our new goddess."
"I would gladly take that role," nodded Aurora. "Let's go, Elders. I've always wished to speak a lot of things with you, but I suppose we can do this much later."
"Yes, I suppose we could."
"We are also very interested to finally hold a conversation with a being from another planet that isn't trying to eat us or parasitize us."
"But even then, I suppose it won't be easy for you to ever forgive us for what we did to you, even less in the future we couldn't see."
"You didn't do any of these things," she explained. "You are mere recreations within this Virtual Matrix, the real you have already succumbed to Blake's ability and had become obedient after their greed almost made humanity lose against the Xenoid."
"S-So that's how it is…"
"So we hold no blame despite feeling so guilty?"
"It's certainly strange to learn that we are something of a clone of our former selves, made of data no less."
"Indeed it is, but what else can we do? Instead of falling into despair, there's new purposes for us. If humanity truly survived until the far future, and they're only days from reach their destiny, and the only thing between them and a new home are those aliens, then we must help."
"Yes, Aurora said she could temporarily summon us and our machinery to battle in this future, in the real world. Even if only temporarily, that is enough to give us a new meaning to life."
"The fabricated past helping the true future… Who could have been ever able to imagine that this would be our true destiny?"
The Elders spoke very eloquently and seemed like truly intelligent and intellectual people, wise and understanding of the world, unlike the Elders Blake met, who seemed zealous, greedy, and secretive.
"I suppose I prefer these four old men compared to the other four," Eleanora giggled, crossing her arms. "Isn't that right, master?"
"Yeah, I agree," Blake nodded. "They could be more fit to lead the future humanity, now that I think about it…"
"Even if they're A.I.?" asked Eleanora.
"Yeah, even if they're A.I. I believe they could," nodded Blake.
As they reached the destination, they found themselves surrounded by tens of thousands of humans, part of the people that had been taken away from the cryogenic chambers to begin the entire process of escaping the planet.
"People of Humanity, today, we present to you the Embodiment and the Spirit of the Neutonium Cores, who we believed were sources of power, but that were ultimately living beings of their own. Her name is Aurora, and she speaks for all of them."
Aurora appearance dazzled all people, men and women, as she stepped into the stage to speak, her voice resonating within everyone's minds, gently and calmly.
"Hello, children of humanity."
