Vampire Queen : Fated Love

Chapter 38: Chapter 38 : Sharing Word

Sarah returned to her home after the long and eventful day. The silence of the night wrapped around the area like a heavy blanket.

The occasional chirp of crickets and the rustling of leaves in the faint breeze were the only sounds accompanying her as she walked up to her door.

The house felt cold and still.

Sarah extended her hand, fingers brushing against the doorknob. It had been locked since she left with Josh. With a soft click, the lock turned, and the door creaked open.

The room inside was engulfed in darkness.

The faint glow of moonlight seeped through the windows, casting pale, ghostly rays on the wooden floor.

Shadows danced in the corners, elongating and swaying with the dim light.

"Leo," Sarah called out, her voice calm but resonant in the quiet.

No reply came. She stood still for a moment, her sharp senses picking up no sign of movement or life within the house.

Leo must still be working for Josh's family, she thought to herself, her expression unreadable.

Letting out a small sigh, Sarah walked into her room.

She pulled out the chair at her writing desk and sat down, leaning back as she stared up at the ceiling. The silence felt heavier now.

Her thoughts wandered, lingering on the events of the day.

She had played her role perfectly, pulling Josh further into her web of manipulation. But the weight of her plans—her mission—still pressed against her like an invisible force.

Revenge wasn't something simple, and Sarah knew the path she had chosen was steeped in shadows.

---

Suddenly, the sharp buzz of her phone broke the silence. She reached over to the desk, picking up the device. The screen illuminated with a name: Natasha.

Natasha, her most trusted confidant and an ally in her pursuit of vengeance.

She was her friend— But sometime its like she was Sarah's right hand, someone who understood the stakes and the darkness they both carried.

Sarah answered the call, bringing the phone to her ear.

---

The conversation between Sarah and Natasha was hushed, their voices carrying a weight of secrecy. For anyone listening, the words would sound like faint murmurs, distorted and unclear.

"... progress…"

"... unexpected, but manageable…"

"... trust only me…"

"... next phase…"

" Oh..... DOCTOR..."

"... Medicine..."

The details of their discussion were obscured, intentionally blurred by the dense shroud of their shared plans.

Words were half-formed, some too faint to comprehend.

"... him?"

"... not yet. Soon."

"... irreversible."

As the conversation continued, Sarah's expression changed subtly.

At times her lips curled into a sly smile, at other times her brows furrowed slightly.

But one thing remained constant: the glint of determination in her eyes.

The call ended, and Sarah placed the phone back on the desk.

She stared at the blank screen for a moment before leaning back in her chair once more.

Everything is falling into place, she thought.

Outside, the wind picked up, rattling the windows slightly.

The moonlight seemed brighter now, its silver beams reflecting off Sarah's pale skin.

She closed her eyes, letting the silence fill the room once again.

---

Josh finally returned to his room, feeling a mix of nervous excitement and exhaustion.

The first thing he noticed was Eithan, casually lounging on the sofa with one leg draped over the armrest.

A movie played softly on the TV, its flickering light casting shadows across the room.

Eithan didn't even glance at Josh as he muttered in his usual carefree tone,

"Go wash yourself first. You smell like the outside."

Josh rolled his eyes.

"Geez, Eithan, you could at least say 'welcome back.'"

Eithan shrugged lazily.

"Welcome back. Now go clean up."

Grumbling to himself, Josh grabbed some clothes and went to freshen up.

The warm water didn't do much to calm the chaotic thoughts in his mind.

He kept replaying the date with Sarah over and over, feeling equal parts triumphant and embarrassed.

After washing up, Josh returned to find Eithan in the same spot, looking just as relaxed as before.

Josh cleared his throat, trying to sound serious.

"Hey, Eithan, can you come to my room? I need to tell you something. Like, it's really important."

Eithan raised an eyebrow, pausing the movie.

"Important, huh? Fine, let's hear it." He stood up, stretching lazily before following Josh to his room.

Once inside, Eithan flopped onto the nearest chair, leaning back with his arms crossed.

"Alright, spill. What's so urgent that you had to drag me away from my movie?"

Josh hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath.

"So… today, I went on a date with Sarah."

Eithan blinked, his expression unreadable.

"You went on a date… with Sarah? But you already proposed her"

" well yeah , i did !! "

Josh nodded enthusiastically, his cheeks turning red.

"! It was amazing, man. She looked so beautiful, and we did so many things together. I took her on my bike, we went to a café, and—"

Josh paused, then added with a sheepish grin,

"I might've held her hand a few times."

Eithan raised an eyebrow, but his expression remained relaxed.

"Okay. Holding hands. Not bad. What else?"

Josh's face turned an even deeper shade of red. He hesitated, then decided to embellish the story just a little.

"Well, uh… we also… you know… hugged. A couple of times."

Eithan smirked faintly.

"Hugged, huh? Look at you, Romeo."

Josh laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head.

"Yeah… And, uh, she said some really sweet things to me too. Like… she's so happy being with me and all that."

As he continued recounting the day, Josh started to exaggerate even more.

He added little details about Sarah laughing at his jokes, complimenting him nonstop, and even hinting at how much she admired him.

Eithan listened quietly, his expression calm but mildly amused.

"... And then, when we were walking by the lake, she told me I was the most amazing guy she'd ever met!" Josh said, his voice filled with pride.

Eithan finally interrupted, holding up a hand.

"Wait, wait. She said that?"

Josh nodded quickly, but his face betrayed a hint of uncertainty.

"Y-Yeah, totally! She said I was, uh… charming and fun and… uh… really handsome."

Eithan leaned back in his chair, a lazy grin on his face.

"Wow, Josh. That's… quite the date you had. Sounds like Sarah's head over heels for you."

Josh puffed out his chest, feeling even more confident.

"Exactly! I think she's finally seeing how amazing I am."

Eithan shook his head, chuckling softly.

"You're such a simp, you know that?"

"Hey!" Josh protested, crossing his arms. "It's called being romantic, okay?"

Eithan waved a hand dismissively.

"Sure, sure. Romantic. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

The brothers fell into a rhythm, with Josh passionately recounting every little detail of his date—real or imagined—while Eithan listened with his usual laid-back demeanor.

---

At one point, Eithan couldn't help but tease him.

"So, did you write her a poem too? Or maybe serenade her under the stars?"

Josh flushed. "No! But now that you mention it, that's not a bad idea…"

Eithan rolled his eyes, laughing. "You're hopeless."

Despite the teasing, Eithan didn't seem to mind listening to his younger brother ramble. He might not have been as invested in the whole "romance" thing, but he appreciated seeing Josh happy.

For Josh, it was a relief to finally share everything with someone, even if Eithan wasn't taking him entirely seriously.

By the end of the conversation, Josh was grinning from ear to ear, and Eithan looked like he might fall asleep in his chair.

"Alright, lover boy," Eithan said, standing up and stretching.

"I'm glad your date went well, but I think I've had enough secondhand simping for one night. I'm gonna crash."

Josh laughed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Thanks for listening, Eithan. You're a good brother, you know that?"

Eithan shrugged casually. "Yeah, yeah. Just don't forget to invite me to the wedding."

With that, he left the room, leaving Josh to bask in his own romantic fantasies.

Josh flopped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling with a dreamy expression. The date might not have gone exactly how he described it, but in his mind, it had been perfect.

Note/: Josh sure is hopeless guy
