Chapter 23: Take Me Home

Eros’s lips descended upon hers with a hunger that felt like a man who had been denied water for years. His left hand gripped her waist, while his right hand played in her hair, creating a disheveled mess.
Elsa was initially stunned by the kiss, but she soon found herself responding to it passionately. It was a kiss that held the intensity of a lover reuniting with their long-lost love. Butterflies danced in her stomach, and a shiver of delight coursed through her body. She couldn’t believe how weak he made her feel and how much she enjoyed his kiss, despite the hatred that had been building up inside her.
Eventually, Elsa pushed him away forcefully and slapped him across the left cheek, leaving a mark with her fingerprints. She was angry, not just at him but at herself. Fortunately, no one was around to witness this altercation.
“Don’t you ever try that with me again! I am not one of your conquests, at least not anymore,” she said with anger as she grabbed her bag, which had fallen during their embrace.
She stormed out of the hallway and headed for the parking lot, deciding to go home. Elsa knew she wouldn’t be able to concentrate in class after the encounter. Her head was filled with thoughts, and she needed to clear her mind. However, just as she reached her car and opened the door, she felt dizzy and her vision began to darken. She fainted.
Eros, still stunned by the slap and outburst, took a few moments to react. When he regained his senses, he put his keys in his pocket as he rushed after her. He arrived in the parking lot and spotted her near her car he ran towards her.
Before she could fall to the floor he caught in his arms to prevent her from falling to the ground and injuring herself further. He reached her just in time, as her body went limp. Holding her in his arms, he realized she looked as pale as a ghost.
Eros held her gently, trying to prevent any harm from coming to her. He took her car keys from her hand that had fallen weak to her side, placed her in the back seat, and put her bag and his in the passenger seat. He quickly started the car, his hands shaking as he drove to the hospital. He did know why he was shaking like a leave dancing in the breeze or someone who had missed their doze of cocaine. He didn’t care about his shaking hands on the wheels as he was more focused on getting Elsa to the hospital.
Elsa regained consciousness slightly as they neared the hospital. “Take me home,” she whispered weakly, trying to sit up.
Eros, absorbed in getting her medical attention, didn’t initially register her words as they were faint and fragile. He was solely focused on reaching the hospital.
However, Elsa was more insistent, and her voice sounded hoarse. “Take me home! I don’t want to go to the hospital.”
He turned to look at her when he stopped at a traffic light. “You fainted and you’re unwell; we’re going to the hospital. You need to get checked up. Please, lie down and rest. Sitting up isn’t good for you as you might fall and hit your head,” he said softly, concern in his voice.
If she didn’t know who he was and what he did to girls, she would have believed he cared. The way he looked at her like he was in love with her or as someone scared and worry about their lover, she would had believed him; if she didn’t know that he lost the bone of love in his heart. It hurt her to know that it was just a look and she might have been hallucinating as she was sick.
But Elsa, frustrated and angry, exclaimed, “I DON’T WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL!”
“We are going there; whether you like it or hate it, I don’t care! But you’ll get checked up.” Eros left no room for argument and continued to drive to the hospital.
Upon arriving at the hospital, he carried her in his arms in a bridal style, “put me down! I can walk perfectly as my legs are not broken” ignoring her protests. He felt a rush of emotions holding her, something he had missed. He knew it had been a one-time encounter, but the feelings had lingered for months.
“I am not allowing you to walk in this condition. So just enjoy the ride.” He looked down smiling sadly at her. She weakly stared in the eyes she loved before burring her head in his neck to avoid his eyes. Breathing on his neck sent shivers down his spine that he had never experienced.
In the hospital, he handed her over to the nurse and doctor, describing it as an emergency. After making the necessary payments, Eros waited outside.
The doctor examined Elsa, checking her heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and conducting various other tests to take it to the lab for further examination. Before the doctor could leave the room, Elsa made a request, “Please don’t mention anything about my health to the man outside.”
The doctor respected her request without further inquiry, understanding that patients often had their reasons for such requests. As a healthcare professional, it was his duty to respect her confidentiality.
