Chapter 1211: Invitation
An invitation was delivered to the Liu Family estate.
"Boss, what does this Dragon King mean?"
Ge Teng handed the invitation to Liu Baiwan. He hadn't anticipated that the aftermath of the delivery hadn't yet dissipated, and now the Dragon King had sent an invitation.
Liu Baiwan tapped his fingers on the armrest of his chair: "Do you think this invitation was sent only to the Liu Family or to every prominent family in the Mining Capital?"
"I'll have someone investigate."
Ge Teng hadn't considered that possibility. He was just about to turn away when Liu Baiwan called back, "Come back."
"Boss!"
Ge Teng looked at Liu Baiwan who had called him back.
Liu Baiwan squinted, pondering for a while before saying: "After today's incident at noon, how do you think the situation with the Dragon King will unfold in the Mining Capital?"
"Hmm?"
Upon hearing Liu Baiwan's question, Ge Teng thought for a moment before speaking: "That delivery directly leveled the Blair Hotel. By now, every small and large force in the Mining Capital has probably heard about it."
"The Dragon King is likely a hot topic now; even past legends about him are bound to resurface."
"The Dragon King's tactics should have intimidated a group of people. After all, the Blair Hotel is a symbol in the Mining Capital, and the Blair Family behind it has extensive connections locally. But now, the Blair Hotel has been flattened directly, and others are likely to be apprehensive too."
"After all, the Dragon King acts outside common logic. Compared to this, our street fights are insignificant."
"But...!"
"To say something unsavory, the Dragon King's move was earth-shattering yet also made him the focal point. If our Liu Family cozies up to the Dragon King now, we might become everyone's common enemy."
"Perhaps this group fears the Dragon King's power and wouldn't dare to confront him rashly. But if the Liu Family still wants to hold a position in the Mining Capital, it might be challenging."
After hearing his old colleague say this, Liu Baiwan nodded: "You're right; our Liu Family has made its way in foreign lands not just because we are united but also due to the balance among other factions."
Liu Baiwan sighed lightly: "However, do you think we can remain uninvolved?"
Ge Teng looked at Liu Baiwan.
"Difficult."
Liu Baiwan looked at Ge Teng, who was shaking his head: "Indeed, even if we don't associate with the Dragon King, these foreigners won't let the Liu Family off the hook; they see us as coming from one place, hence as a group."
"Even if we bow and scrape, they won't trust us. And although I'm a businessman, I haven't broken my backbone."
"If I had bent my knee back then, I wouldn't be where I am today."
"So we must attend this invitation."
"And we should go in full disclosure."
Liu Baiwan suddenly made up his mind.
"Old Liu, if you've made a decision, I fully support you. The guns we have aren't just for show."
Ge Teng immediately pledged his loyalty. Not only are they employer and employee, but they've also been old brothers for over ten years.
"Hmm."
"Old Ge, find a few people and send the girl Qiangwei back to Yan Country."
"Alright."
Ge Teng nodded. Both men saw the coming waves in the Mining Capital. Li Feng's delivery didn't just hit the Blair Hotel—it struck at the face of the local Federation forces.
Silver Coast has always been considered the private backyard of these Federation families, forbidden to outsiders.
Now someone has intruded, and given those families' nature, they surely won't rest easily.
After all, it concerns interests, regardless of whether you're a Dragon King or not.
Once these forces unite, they'll indeed form a terrifying power that's hard to ignore.
"I don't want to go back."
Liu Qiangwei opened the study door holding a tray, clearly having overheard their conversation.
"Dad, what does that guy's business have to do with our Liu Family? Why should we shuffle over upon his beckoning?"
"Who does he think he is!"
Liu Baiwan looked at Liu Qiangwei's stubborn face.
"There's no room for negotiation on this. You must leave today."
"I won't."
Liu Baiwan looked at his obstinate daughter: "Old Ge, get people to tie her up and send her onto the plane."
"Old Liu, don't you dare."
Ge Teng looked at the father-daughter standoff and turned to Liu Qiangwei: "Qiangwei, you need to understand your dad, you're the apple of his eye. This is just because he's worried about something happening to you while you're here."
"And what about him? Isn't he worried something might happen to himself?"
"Your dad is the Sect Leader of the Liu Family. He can't leave."
Liu Baiwan isn't just supporting the Liu Family but also thousands eating under the Liu Family banner. It's safe to say that Yan Country people in the Mining Capital are under Liu Family's protection.
If Liu Baiwan were ruthless, he might seek immediate profit and avoid consequences, but he isn't such a person, which brought him to this position.
"Old Ge, don't bother explaining much, do as I say, if she won't go, tie her up and send her off."
"Humph!"
Liu Qiangwei snorted coldly and turned suddenly to leave.
"Old Liu, calm down, Qiangwei is worried about you too."
"Ehh, I know, but I have no choice. Go ahead, I need some quiet."
With her eyes puffed up, Liu Qiangwei left the study. Ge Teng followed her out and saw her angry face.
"Qiangwei, your dad is sending you back to Yan Country to leave a fallback for himself. The Liu Family is hitting a bump."
"Uncle Teng, I know, it's all that damn bastard's fault. What did our family ever do to him for him to drag us into this?"
"He felt relieved hitting the Blair Family, but now considering the consequences, he's pulling in our Liu Family as backup. His face sure is thick."
Liu Qiangwei was boiling with anger.
Ge Teng looked at Liu Qiangwei, having watched her grow up, knowing she couldn't keep words to herself.
"Some things, girl, if only they were clearer, we'd hardly be oppressed in the Mining Capital even without the Dragon King's appearance."
"If your dad hadn't led people willing to fight to the death, fearing us would end poorly for them, both Liu Family and the business association wouldn't stand. Even so, over the years, we've scavenged leftovers, doing the toughest work."
"When have the major lucrative mines ever been ours?"
"Alright, listen to your dad and return to Yan Country. Your dad has me here; Uncle Teng would risk everything to ensure your dad's safety."
"Okay, I'll go pack."
Liu Qiangwei's eyes flickered as if she had conceded.
"Yes, I'll have someone prepare."
