Chapter 536: Breaking the Siege

Upon seeing the group of five surrounding Wang Yan, each wielding gleaming daggers, Deng Xin started trembling with fear.

She felt as if all her strength had been drained away, and she collapsed into Wang Yan's arms.

Holding Deng Xin in his embrace, Wang Yan caught a whiff of the fresh scent of a young girl. Deng Xin seemed soft and boneless, clinging tightly to Wang Yan.

Wang Yan immediately felt his heart begin to race, his face flushing with redness.

At this moment, the group of five, led by Ma Gan, had already closed in on Wang Yan. Seeing his flushed face, they assumed he was scared.

Ma Gan sneered, "Kid, with such little courage you dare to cause trouble? Get lost, hurry up."

Saying this, Ma Gan brandished the dagger in his hand.

But just as Ma Gan was waving his dagger, he suddenly saw a huge figure charging towards him, and a giant hand, like a palm leaf, rising to slap his face.

Ma Gan was startled and wanted to dodge, but the hand came too fast. He could only make out that the owner of the hand seemed to be the fat guy behind Wang Yan.

By the time he realized it, the slap had already landed.

There was a loud "smack" sound, and Ma Gan was sent flying like a tattered sack, crashing into a stone pillar at the hospital entrance before rebounding to the ground.

With a clatter, the dagger in Ma Gan's hand also fell to the ground.

Looking at Ma Gan now, one side of his face was swollen like a steamed bun.

Enraged, Ma Gan shouted, "Bastard, you dare hit me? Get them!"

But as Ma Gan opened his mouth, with a few cracking noises, a dozen teeth fell out.

"Get them—get them," Ma Gan cried in pain, clutching his mouth, bouncing up and down in anger.

Seeing this, the remaining thugs quickly rushed over to Wang Yan and Hu Wei.

Deng Xin, terrified, quickly buried her face in Wang Yan's chest, too frightened to look.

At this moment, Hu Wei was clad in a large tank top, shorts, and a pair of casual slippers.

But facing the four or five thugs rushing at him, Hu Wei's face showed disdain. He strode forward, his slippers slapping the ground with a "clap-clap" sound, and charged at the thugs.

Cries of "ah", "help", and "mother" resounded continuously, and the thugs were seen being beaten and sent flying, landing all over the place.

No one could really see what had happened, yet none of the thugs were left standing.

Ma Gan stared at Hu Wei, paralyzed with fear, dumbly watching Hu Wei, his mouth agape, showing a toothless gum with several teeth missing.

Hu Wei pointed at Ma Gan, his fat trembling, and roared, "Get lost!"

The shout seemed to jolt Ma Gan awake as if from a dream. He turned around in fright and ran.

But he forgot about the stone pillar behind him and ran straight into it, knocking himself out.

The remaining thugs hurriedly got up and scrambled to lift Ma Gan, quickly fleeing.

Seeing this, Hua Wulian on the second-floor terrace stomped in anger and turned away.

The bald doctor hurriedly followed behind, quickly saying, "Young Dean, no, Dr. Hua, don't be angry. We still have other ways. As long as Deng Xin is at our hospital, and her father remains ill, we have ways to deal with her."

Hu Wei triumphantly watched the thugs flee and laughed proudly, then turned around and said, "Boss, Nurse Deng Xin, wasn't I amazing?"

But upon seeing the two still standing together, with Deng Xin holding Wang Yan even tighter, her pretty face pressed against his chest, she seemed oblivious to what had just happened outside.

Hu Wei's spirits instantly deflated, and he said dejectedly, "Didn't you see how gallantly I fought just now? You should have watched, I was really impressive."

But no matter what Hu Wei said, Deng Xin remained nestled in Wang Yan's arms, not moving.

Wang Yan's face was already thoroughly red. Helplessly, he said to Deng Xin, "The bad guys have been driven off by Hu Wei, you can get up now."

Upon hearing this, Hu Wei gave Wang Yan a thumbs up, thinking: That's a real leader, never taking credit!

Only then did Deng Xin stand up from Wang Yan's embrace, and looking around, seeing no trace of Ma Gan and the others, she breathed a sigh of relief.

But then she realized just how close she had been standing to Wang Yan, and how she had just been leaning in his arms, causing a rosy blush to bloom on her pale face.

Deng Xin then lowered her head, softly saying, "Thank you, Wang Yan."

Hearing this, Hu Wei was speechless, shouting in his heart: This is truly a world obsessed with appearances. I was the one who chased the bad guys away! It was me, it was me!

But no matter how Hu Wei wanted to draw Deng Xin's attention, her gaze never left Wang Yan.

Looking at Wang Yan, Deng Xin suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of security. She even wondered if spending her lifetime nestled in Wang Yan's arms would be a blissful existence.

The more Deng Xin thought about it, the redder her face became. She was originally stunningly beautiful, and blushing, her beauty was breathtaking.

Hu Wei standing nearby was completely mesmerized, his mouth agape with drool dripping onto the floor, entirely unlike his earlier heroic self.

Wang Yan, noticing Deng Xin's gaze, couldn't help but feel a chill in his heart. He was far too familiar with such looks. In the past, both Beiming Xue and Ouyang Feiting had looked at him this way, and the end result was that the three of them were inseparable.

Seeing such a gaze once more, Wang Yan couldn't help but think: The natural soul skill of women, being unleashed again. I mustn't fall for it, I absolutely mustn't.

Thinking this, Wang Yan quickly looked around, trying to change the subject. At this moment, his eyes fell on the elderly man still lying on the ground, and he promptly asked, "Who is this elderly gentleman?"

Upon hearing this, Deng Xin instantly remembered the situation. Tears welled up in her eyes, her face twitching twice before she suddenly burst into tears.

"Wang Yan, what should I do!"

As soon as she said this, Deng Xin cried uncontrollably.
