Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 666: Black Arrow's Sneak Attack

The woman was in her twenties, looking very delicate, with red lips and white teeth, standing gracefully. She wore ordinary casual clothes; a tight black top and slim-fit jeans.

If not for the deadly weapon in her hand, and the indifference to life in her narrow eyes, she might have seemed like the girl next door or a female college student.

This woman was the same assassin, Black Arrow, who had been defeated by Chu Ge and spared once, now lurking and hiding in Lidu City.

Recently, Black Arrow had been monitoring the aftermath of Long Tao's death. To her relief, everything gradually returned to calm; the case would soon become a cold one, and Chu Ge seemingly had no intention of exposing her.

Black Arrow planned to leave Lidu City the next day. But before leaving, driven by complex emotions, she wanted to revisit the place of her defeat.

Originally, Black Arrow just wanted to take a distant look. What she didn't expect was a flicker of light in the dim buildings. Although it was fleeting, and she doubted her own eyes from such a far distance, she eventually got out of the taxi to investigate.

After all, it was so late that the workers should have left the site long ago. Normal people wouldn't wander around in such a spooky place. If that glimmer wasn't an illusion, then...

The formidable man who had brought her to disgrace and humiliation might very well be in that building!

If he was indeed there, whatever he was about to do or was doing might be another battle!

Realizing this, Black Arrow's heart raced, stirring a mix of emotions.

Initially, Black Arrow wanted Chu Ge dead, to vanish from this world forever. Soon, however, she wished Chu Ge would survive.

Of course, Black Arrow wasn't concerned for Chu Ge, but she hoped for a chance to personally eliminate him and erase her previous shame.

Black Arrow initially considered approaching the suspected battlefield but thought better of it, deciding it was too risky. She couldn't ensure Chu Ge wouldn't find her; he spared her once, but that didn't mean he would a second time.

So Black Arrow chose a sufficiently concealed spot, patiently observing from afar, waiting. Her ideal scenario was for Chu Ge and his opponent to both suffer serious injuries, with Chu Ge barely scraping a victory, as only then would she stand a chance of killing him herself.

Time seemed to pass especially slowly as Black Arrow waited. She realized her thoughts often drifted not to Chu Ge's formidable skills or cold stare, but to his irritatingly amused expression when he saw her in jeans that day.

It was the first time she found herself so humiliated in a confrontation — the greatest disgrace of her life, and thinking about it always made her grind her teeth in anger.

Finally, Black Arrow witnessed a figure emerge, making her tensed and alert. However, disappointingly and somewhat relieved, it wasn't Chu Ge but a dejected young man.

It seemed this young man must have been Chu Ge's opponent. From his demeanor and step, it wasn't hard to tell he had lost, likely in complete defeat, as she had left with a similar expression last time.

As she watched the young man walk further away, Black Arrow couldn't help but feel disheartened, thinking there was no point in waiting any longer. After all, she couldn't kill Chu Ge. If Chu Ge found her there, wouldn't that be asking for trouble?

She feared that truly eliminating Chu Ge by skill would likely be impossible in her lifetime.

Sighing irritably, Black Arrow prepared to leave. But upon catching another glimpse of the young man's back, she suddenly froze, a thrilling thought igniting in her mind.

The moment the thought emerged, Black Arrow found it to be a brilliant idea. Quickly calculating, she became more convinced of its feasibility and thus quietly followed the young man, ready to act when the opportunity arose.

As they walked, discovering the young man had wandered into a place as secluded as the construction site, she secretly thanked her luck, her narrow eyes gleaming brightly.

The environment seemed practically tailored for her plan!

Even so, Black Arrow didn't rush. She patiently waited, conducting one last observation and confirmation.

Until she heard the young man utter "Chu Ge," which confirmed all her guesses, she hesitated no longer and attacked him silently in the darkness.

"Whoosh!"

A dark streak flashed through the night sky from several feet behind Liang Chen, like a shooting star, hurtling straight toward his back!

Black Arrow's crossbow was specially crafted, remarkably quiet, even quieter than a silenced pistol, and the timing of the attack was impeccable. Liang Chen, engrossed in his thoughts, was utterly unprepared.

However, even with this, Liang Chen sharply detected the whooshing sound, though it was too late to react.

"Thud!"

Even though Liang Chen desperately twisted his body the moment he heard the sound, he still couldn't completely evade the crossbow arrow; the sound of the arrow piercing through flesh and exiting his body echoed in his ears.

Accompanied by intense pain, drops of blood sprayed from Liang Chen's right shoulder like dazzling flowers under the night sky, blooming crimson!

Liang Chen let out a painful groan and abruptly turned around, looking at Black Arrow, who was holding a crossbow with a sneer on her face.

Liang Chen was already injured in his right hand, and now his right shoulder was pierced by an arrow. Facing an opponent who could silently approach this close, armed with a crossbow arrow, he knew this person was no ordinary opponent. He also knew that the wisest choice would be to escape immediately, but he was unwilling to leave without uncovering the adversary's identity and motives!

"Who are you!"

"Who am I?" Black Arrow's face displayed a teasing smile, and the coldness in her long, narrow eyes deepened, "Don't you find your question amusing? This... do you really need to ask?"

Although Black Arrow was smiling, there was considerable shock in her heart.

She had been following Liang Chen all along and knew well that his mental state was currently very poor and he should be caught off guard.

Yet, even in such close proximity, Liang Chen managed to dodge the vital spot in an instant. Such reflexes exceeded hers. If he wasn't in such a terrible state, he... no, she would have been discovered by him long ago!

Liang Chen raised his left hand to cover the hole on his right shoulder, with dark red blood continuously seeping through his fingers. His left hand, his right arm, soon became an alarming red.

"Hiss" The pain in his shoulder made Liang Chen take a sharp breath, but his gaze remained fixed on Black Arrow's face as he asked, word by word, "Could it be you are..."

Black Arrow let out a disdainful laugh, "Count yourself a bit smart. Yes, just as you thought, I am one of Chu Ge's people."

"Why?"

Although Liang Chen had speculated this, hearing Black Arrow admit it made his pupils involuntarily contract fiercely.

Chu Ge had clearly let him go, he couldn't understand Chu Ge's reason for this. Yet this woman clearly intended to kill him!

If he hadn't reacted quickly, that sneak attack arrow would have pierced his heart, and he wouldn't have even had the chance to ask these questions!

Black Arrow snorted coldly, "Once you reach hell, you can ask King Yama yourself!"

As she spoke, Black Arrow's fingers on the hand crossbow shifted subtly, launching another arrow, which shot towards Liang Chen's heart with the momentum of a tidal wave.

However, to Black Arrow's surprise, Liang Chen didn't dodge. Instead, he extended his left hand like a flash of lightning and caught the arrow tightly in his palm.

If Liang Chen were in peak condition, this arrow wouldn't pose any threat to him, and he could completely avoid it with his speed. However, given his current state, compared to catching the arrow, dodging was undoubtedly a riskier choice.

Even so, Liang Chen was still in great discomfort. Any slight movement tugged at his continuously bleeding shoulder wound, preventing him from exerting his usual strength.

Even though he caught the arrow, the inertia caused his arm to tremble slightly, and the arrowhead eventually punctured his chest, creating a one-centimeter-deep wound.

Impressive! Injuries to the right hand and shoulder like that, yet he can still manage such a feat?

Black Arrow's eyes narrowed, her brows slightly furrowed. She wondered if she could achieve the same feat if she were in such a dire condition. It clearly showed that this young man, who had just fought with Chu Ge, was more powerful than her.

Such a skilled individual, yet he was defeated by Chu Ge? Just how strong was Chu Ge?

Thinking this, Black Arrow suddenly felt a sense of admiration or empathy towards Liang Chen.

They had no personal grudges; she merely intended to divert the disaster, framing Chu Ge for this issue. Killing him could eliminate evidence, inciting greater enmity between his potential forces and Chu Ge, but not killing him seemed sufficient to achieve her goal.

Moreover, judging by the skills he had demonstrated so far, she wasn't fully confident she could kill him.

The longer it dragged on, he might be exhausted from blood loss, but who knows what unexpected changes could occur during this process.

However, one thing was indeed troubling—the young expert had already seen her face.
