Chapter 1042: Courting Death
Suddenly, the room's door was opened by someone. The woman's nerves immediately tightened like a string, her index finger poised on the trigger, ready to pull at any moment.
"Huh?"
When the room's door was pushed open, the woman finally saw the seemingly harmless young man with delicate features standing in front of her, his fine hair and gentle face giving off an innocuous appearance.
Realizing there was only one person, the woman secretly breathed a sigh of relief, yet remained vigilant, staring at the young man in front of her and asked, "Who are you? How did you get into my room?"
"It seems you've forgotten me." Lin Mo's lips curled into a playful smile, "Not surprising, you were only focused on escaping last night and probably didn't remember me."
"Last night?"
After taking a closer look at Lin Mo, the woman suddenly understood. "You're the coward from last night? I just asked you for a favor, and you hid away."
"Coward? Just because I didn't help you, I'm a coward?" Lin Mo shook his head upon hearing her words.
"How do you know I'm here? And how did you get in?" The woman's eyes flashed with coldness as she stared hard at Lin Mo.
Lin Mo glanced at the gun in her hand and slowly extended his right palm, "You want to threaten me with this gun?"
"I warn you seriously now, if you make any sudden moves, I will truly shoot. Don't assume I'm joking with you." The woman immediately warned loudly as she saw Lin Mo extend his palm.
"Really? Threaten me with your toy?" Lin Mo slowly clenched his long fingers.
"What... what's happening?"
The woman's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at the gun in her hand, which had deformed and twisted like a pretzel into a pile of scrap iron.
"You... you're Superman..." The woman threw away the gun in fear, terror reflected in her eyes.
"Oh no, how unlucky am I to have encountered a Superman." The woman's face turned pale as she instinctively stepped back two steps, her cold hand touching the wall behind her, with nowhere left to flee.
"What is this Divine Tree Butterfly you mentioned?"
Lin Mo asked directly.
Just before, Lin Mo had swept this woman with Divine Thought and heard her mention Divine Tree Leaves, prompting him to rush over. Lin Mo came to South America to seek the legendary Divine Tree, and didn't expect this woman to have information about it.
"What Divine Tree Butterfly, I don't know what you're talking about?" The woman blinked, showing a confused expression.
Lin Mo's eyes shot out two beams of cold light, "My patience is limited!"
Suddenly, the temperature in the entire room seemed to drop by dozens of degrees in an instant, as cold as the Ice Plateau of Siberia.
The woman shivered from the cold as Lin Mo, without wasting words, radiated purple light from his eyes, directly using Soul Searching Technique.
The woman's expression became somewhat dazed as she looked into Lin Mo's purple eyes.
Moments later, a trace of Pei Yongjun's expression returned to the woman's eyes.
"Hm? How did this happen?" Lin Mo frowned. "You… what did you do to me, what happened just now?" The woman touched her face; she didn't know what had just happened but felt she had suddenly lost consciousness.
"Can you find where the Divine Tree is?" Jiang Beiwang frowned, his eyes fixed on Zhang Wei.
Zhang Wei's lips curved into a smile, "Mr. Jiang, you've already found me. Do I still need to deceive you now?"
Lin Mo also stared at Zhang Wei; when he used Soul Search earlier, he did not find any information about the Divine Tree in Zhang Wei's Sea of Consciousness. Could this woman be lying again?
"Regardless, I now want to invite Miss Zhang to return with me, to stay at my Jiang Family's villa." Jiang Beiwang mused.
"No problem, I wasn't planning to run away anyway, but," Zhang Wei said, turning her head to look at Lin Mo, "my partner has to come too. He's a Superman, with his help, I will find the Divine Tree more easily."
"Huh?" Lin Mo's Sword Eyebrow furrowed.
This woman wants to drag him into trouble too, but Lin Mo remained silent; after all, he also sought the Divine Tree. If he had no leads upon arriving in South America, perhaps he could leverage the Jiang Family's influence to uncover some useful information.
"Superman?" Jiang Beiwang was taken aback by Zhang Wei's words, and his gaze immediately fell on Lin Mo, sizing him up. He noticed Lin Mo was a Huaxia person with a gentle face, seemingly young, without much menace.
"May I know your name, sir? Are you with Zhang Wei?" Even facing a Superman, Jiang Beiwang dared not be too arrogant, his tone carrying more respect.
"I'm called Shadow Kill, and indeed I'm with Miss Zhang Wei." Lin Mo nodded gently.
Zhang Wei paused for a moment, her Willow Leaf Eyebrow furrowed together. She had originally planned to drag Lin Mo down with her. Lin Mo, being a Superman, would have an opportunity to escape in the chaos if he clashed with the bodyguards brought by Jiang Beiwang.
But what Zhang Wei hadn't expected was that Lin Mo would promptly admit that he was her companion.
"Mr. Shadow Kill, please come and stay with me at the Jiang Family for a few days," Jiang Beiwang said.
No one's name would be Shadow Kill. Shadow Kill is nothing more than a code name. Jiang Beiwang understood that both Supermen and some underground experts had different code names and generally wouldn't show their true names.
Lin Mo didn't say much further and, together with Zhang Wei, followed Jiang Beiwang to a modern villa by the seaside. Almost entirely constructed of tempered glass, it offered an unobstructed view of the surrounding seaside scenery.
Moreover, the villa housed at least a hundred serious-looking black-suited bodyguards. Each entrance and even the interior were equipped with high-tech infrared surveillance, making it impossible even for a fly to easily enter the villa. "Mr. Shadow Kill, Miss Zhang, I humbly invite the two of you to rest here for a few days, and when the time comes, we will search for the Divine Tree together. If either of you needs anything, just inform my men, and I'll do my utmost to meet your demands," Jiang Beiwang said casually, immediately arranging for two bodyguards to lead the way, to send Lin
Buo and Zhang Wei to a nearby standalone small villa.
The standalone small villa, although smaller, was three stories high, with a lawn trimmed into geometric patterns, a swimming pool, and sun loungers.
"Why lie?"
Entering the small villa, Lin Mo directly sat on the sofa, looking coldly at Zhang Wei.
"Lie, when did I lie?" Zhang Wei pouted, lightly stroking the blue porcelain vase placed in the room, "Jiang Beiwang sure is rich. This vase alone would probably cost millions, yet he claims these are humble abodes, tsk tsk tsk."
Lin Mo smirked, his eyes cold as they stared at the woman before him.
Perhaps ordinary people couldn't handle this kind of woman, but Lin Mo could. He extended his palm, his long fingers squeezed in the air, turning his palm into a claw.
"Ugh"
Zhang Wei suddenly felt as if her neck was being strangled, her toes slowly leaving the ground, suspended in mid-air. As her throat was being choked, her beautiful face immediately turned impossibly red.
"I don't mind killing, nor do I mind killing a woman. Don't use your ignorance to test my patience," Lin Mo's voice was cold, like a chilling sound from Hell.
"Let me speak," Zhang Wei uttered a few broken syllables with difficulty.
"Hmph!"
Lin Mo coldly snorted.
At the same time, Zhang Wei felt the force gripping her throat instantly vanish. She fell from mid-air, landing hard on her rear, grimacing in pain.
"Cough cough," Zhang Wei knelt on the ground, her face still a little flushed, coughing dryly.
"This guy really doesn't understand femininity," Zhang Wei cursed inwardly, still having some confidence in her appearance.
"Better tell me the truth. Otherwise, I won't be lenient next time," Lin Mo said coolly.
Falling into Zhang Wei's ears, she shuddered slightly. She believed Lin Mo wasn't joking with her.
Zhang Wei organized her thoughts and began to speak, "Okay, then I'll tell you the truth: actually, I don't know where the Divine Tree is!"
"So you were deceiving Jiang Beiwang?" Lin Mo frowned.
If Zhang Wei really didn't know where the Divine Tree was, then the clue was lost. "Not really deceiving him. I truly don't know where the Divine Tree is, but a year ago, I followed a scientist into the Amazon Forest and discovered traces of the Divine Tree. Unfortunately, we encountered some Fierce Beasts, and the scientist and dozens of soldiers all died; only I escaped. I believe the Divine Tree is certainly nearby," Zhang Wei said with burning eyes, seemingly not lying.
"Fierce Beasts?"
Lin Mo slightly furrowed his brows. The Amazon Forest covered eighty percent of the world's forest area, home to various wild beasts and animals. If the Divine Tree or Spirit Vein really caused the beasts to mutate into Fierce Beasts, it wouldn't be surprising.
"Those Fierce Beasts are very powerful, some are not even afraid of bullets. They come in groups, and we are no match for them," Zhang Wei continued, "Actually, my real identity is a bounty hunter; as long as I'm paid, I can do anything."
"That Divine Tree is likely in the place you mentioned," Lin Mo nodded.
Zhang Wei said, "If Jiang Beiwang can find some experts to help this time, maybe we can venture again. Are you also interested in obtaining a leaf from the Divine Tree?"
"Hmm."
Lin Mo murmured in agreement. What he wanted was not a leaf but to take the essence of the entire Divine Tree. "This time Jiang Beiwang offered ten billion to hire people. I don't know anyone else, and we can be considered acquaintances without fighting. At least Jiang Beiwang can give me hundreds of millions. When the time comes, cooperate with me, and we'll earn more money. If we can get a few more leaves, we'll never have to work again in this lifetime," Zhang Wei said as she lay on the sofa, giggling to herself. Lin Mo glanced at her lightly; this woman's carefree nature quickly forgetting that she had just nearly died at his hand.
