Chapter 3337: Last Will

"Yes!"

Lin Chen said with a laugh, "That's exactly how I see it. So we're not just searching for Kryptonite; the corpses of dead Starry Sky Demon Beasts and Cosmic Ghosts are also our targets. Perhaps finding them will bring us closer to Kryptonite."

Qingluan Immortal Monarch praised, "You're quick-witted as always; that makes sense. Let's follow your suggestion."

Lin Chen walked up to Qingluan Immortal Monarch and pointed ahead, "Let's use the stars as coordinates and divide this area into sections. Then we'll search region by region, avoiding both oversights and getting lost."

Since the explosion of this Star Domain, it's become utterly devastated. The entire domain is filled with massive shattered meteorites, and once you dive in, without spatial jumping or coordinate guidance, it's extremely easy to lose your way.

Qingluan Immortal Monarch readily agreed, "Alright, you're better than me in spatial matters. You handle marking; I'll follow your lead."

Lin Chen utilized spatial jumping, appearing successively on several visible stars and marking each one individually.

"Okay, we're good to go now."

With the multiple markers made by Lin Chen, even though spatial jumping couldn't be used in this Star Domain, Lin Chen had no worries about getting lost.

Lin Chen and Qingluan Immortal Monarch ventured deep into the Star Domain. After several short-distance jumps, Lin Chen keenly noticed a change in the surrounding space. Everything seemed fragmented, like a clear pond suddenly disrupted by heaps of mud, turning it into a muddy swamp that imposed a suffocating sense of immobility.

Starry Sky Jump was no longer effective.

Lin Chen abandoned Starry Sky Jump, and the two began rapidly moving across the cosmos with their physical bodies, aiming for the massive fragments of shattered planets.

Speeding through the cosmos faster than meteors, the two were fortunate that this star system wasn't overly vast. The explosion-induced spatial anomaly was limited to the core region, so while the search was troublesome, it wasn't completely hopeless.

The search was monotonous and dull, akin to searching for a lost wallet amid the ruins of an exploded wasteland. Everywhere they went, all they saw was debris—it was incredibly challenging to find a tiny wallet in all this devastation.

Whenever the pair landed on a piece of Starry Sky Meteorite, they would unleash powerful senses to scan the area, detecting energy fluctuations.

Whether it was Kryptonite or Cosmic Ghosts, they were both energy-based entities and would emit intense energy waves.

After the Star Domain's explosion, everything had been annihilated. Strong energy fluctuations, to their senses, would stand out like the Sun in the dark night.

Half a month passed in the blink of an eye, and the duo had searched through a significant area of the Star Domain, but found nothing.

On this day, the two shot across the sky like meteors once again, descending onto a massive meteorite.

This meteorite was immense, likely a fragment of a planet split into pieces, comprising roughly a quarter of its original size and floating amidst the Star Domain.

The two descended towards the ground. Violent explosions had destroyed all the mountain peaks on the surface, leaving a landscape filled with massive abyssal rifts that crisscrossed the land—terrifying to behold.

The duo extended their senses and swept through at full speed.

Suddenly, Lin Chen, who was flying at high speed, halted mid-air, a surprised look on his face as he gazed down.

At Lin Chen's waist, the bell gifted by Nicholas was silently trembling.

Qingluan Immortal Monarch stopped as well, directing her gaze at the bell on Lin Chen's waist, her eyes lighting up in delight.

"Is there a reaction?"

Lin Chen nodded, "Yes, it seems like there's a Starry Sky Demon Beast corpse from a previous expedition on this shattered planet. We need to be cautious."

Qingluan Immortal Monarch's face lit up with excitement, "A reaction is good news—it's been half a month with nothing to show for it. I was starting to wonder if there was any Kryptonite here at all."

"Mm. Let's go!"

The two adjusted their direction and began searching for the Starry Sky Demon Beast's corpse.

As they drew closer, the vibrations of the bell grew stronger. Guided by the bell, they located their target within an hour.

It was a Starry Sky Demon Beast as massive as a mountain range. Its enormous body had plummeted to the ground, burying deep into the terrain, resembling a mountain peak rising from flatland—a striking sight in the endless expanse before them.

The surface of the Starry Sky Demon Beast's body was covered in ghastly, colossal wounds. Each wound was profoundly deep and exceedingly long, riddling its body with scars that made it look horrifying.

"Were these wounds caused by Cosmic Ghosts?"

Lin Chen's eyes turned grim. Having dealt with Starry Sky Demon Beasts before, he knew very well how formidable their defensive power was, especially those at the Spirit Venerable Realm. Their defenses were almost absurd, yet the wounds on this beast were so massive, as if a sharp blade had sliced through tofu. One could only imagine the destructive potency of the attacks.

The two carefully scanned the area but detected no energy fluctuations.

They approached cautiously, even climbing onto the carcass of the Starry Sky Demon Beast, but encountered no attacks.

Lin Chen inspected the surroundings and then glanced skyward, "This Starry Sky Demon Beast fell directly from the air and died here. Either it was already gravely injured and couldn't flee any further, or it was being pursued by Cosmic Ghosts, and after dying here, lost its life force, making the Cosmic Ghosts leave. With no life force remaining, it's just like a meteorite—indistinguishable to them."

"The old clan chief once said, these Cosmic Ghosts actively attack life-bearing entities and roam around most of the time. They chase Starry Sky Demon Beasts, but once the prey dies, they won't stick around anymore; after all, without life force, it's no different from a regular meteorite."

Qingluan Immortal Monarch's eyes gleamed, "But they shouldn't be too far away from this spot, right?"

Lin Chen nodded, "That's likely. We might even run into them... let's see if this fellow left anything important first."

"Alright!"

The two descended from the sky, quickly finding a pile of items in front of the Starry Sky Demon Beast's head.

The unique ability of Starry Sky Demon Beasts allowed them to store items within their bodies in a spatial dimension. Upon death, the items stored in their spatial dimension could no longer be retrieved, so this beast must have expelled everything it had before dying.

Among the pile of items was a bell identical to the one Lin Chen carried on his waist.

Apart from the bell, there were various miscellaneous items, likely the private possessions of the Starry Sky Demon Beast unrelated to their current mission.

Lin Chen scanned the objects with his Divine Sense, his eyes lighting up.

"A Sound Recording Stone!"

Lin Chen extended his hand in midair, causing the black Sound Recording Stone to float up and hover before him. He tapped it with a finger, infusing it with spiritual power, and the stone began to emit a dim glow. A heavily labored voice resonated in Lin Chen's mind:

"I'm being pursued by a large group of Cosmic Ghosts. I don't think I'll make it back..."
