Chapter 964: Run Faster
The powerful wind force suddenly burst out from El's hand, forming a green glow that swept toward Grant. As it flew, the green glow emitted a crisp chirping sound and started to fluctuate violently. Amid its flickering, the originally well-ordered Wind Attribute Energy in the air also began to grow chaotic, continuously converging toward the green glow. As the Wind Attribute Energy kept merging, the green glow's flickering moments grew longer and more intense. In just a few breaths, the green glow formed by the Wind Force dashed through the sky like a green sun.
From within the green sun, the crisp chirping sound echoed again, and this time everyone present heard it clearly—it was a bird's chirp. After the bird's call, the green sun suddenly emitted a strong light. With a tearing sound, the entire green sun split in half, resembling a giant green bird egg. Then, with another bird call, a green figure suddenly burst out from the green sun.
The moment the green bird appeared, it flapped its wings, and Wind Attribute Energy immediately converged toward it. The originally split green sun transformed back into Wind Force and merged into the green bird's body. With another long chirp, the green bird flapped its wings fiercely, launching two green whirlwinds from beneath its wings. The moment the whirlwinds left the wings, they combined into one and dashed toward Grant's down-slashing Giant Sword. The sharp sound of wind roaring suddenly pierced the quiet night sky, causing a painful ring in the ears.
The combined whirlwind spun rapidly, flickering with green light as it targeted the Giant Sword. After releasing the whirlwind, the green bird didn't linger, flapping its double wings again, instantly transforming into a green figure chasing after the whirlwind. The green bird also charged toward the Giant Sword. El unleashed this Wind Cannon as a block against Grant, and using it to stave off Grant's attack was perfectly reasonable.
The whirlwind first collided with the descending Giant Sword. Without any suspense, the whirlwind couldn't even slightly hinder the Giant Sword, easily being sliced in half. The piercing wind roar in the sky abruptly ceased. The pink Giant Sword continued to slash down toward Shu and El. Due to being locked on, neither Shu nor El could possibly evade. Moreover, after fully unleashing a Wind Cannon, El temporarily lost the ability to move, making it impossible for Shu alone to dodge the attack for both of them.
Seeing its whirlwind broken yet the Giant Sword still slashing toward it, the green bird let out an angry chirp, opened its mouth, and sprayed out a green light beam from its beak. The green glow transformed back into Wind Force, but instead of targeting the Giant Sword, it swirled in front of the green bird and tightly wrapped around its body.
With the Wind Force enveloping it, the green bird accelerated abruptly, arriving at the descending Giant Sword. Without releasing any more Wind Force to attack, it directly lashed out its wind-imbued claws toward the blade of the Giant Sword.
The Giant Sword descended swiftly, but the green bird flew even faster. In mid-air, a flash of pink and green streaked past each other, with the green bird appearing higher in the sky while the Giant Sword continued its downward slash. However, at this moment, the direction of the Giant Sword's descent had subtly shifted. The green bird, hovering in mid-air, let out a cry of pain as its wind-formed claws shattered with that chirp. The green Wind Force danced chaotically in the sky, trying to reconstruct the vanished claws of the green bird, but the energy left behind on the Giant Sword's wound interfered with the green bird's recovery, leaving it unable to form sharp claws again using the Wind Force.
The clash between the green bird and Giant Sword in mid-air triggered intense energy fluctuations. The chaotic energy flow caused the frenzied Fire Pattern Superpower Users on the ground to pause, then some looked up at the sky. And what they saw made their hearts tremble. The pink Giant Sword unleashed by Grant was slashing downward with an unbearable massive pressure. Although the green bird had slightly shifted its direction, this small distance didn't affect the Giant Sword targeting its prey. However, the Fire Pattern Superpower Users attacking Shu and El below were within the Giant Sword's attack range as well. Fortunately, as Grant's lock was on Shu and El, the Fire Pattern Superpower Users still felt immense pressure, but it didn't impede their action ability.
"Run!" As the Giant Sword fell unstoppably, someone yelled, and suddenly a burst of red fire emerged within the crowd. A figure dashed out, speeding toward the manor. Flames flickered all over this person, accelerating continuously, occasionally jetting bursts of fire behind to increase their speed.
As someone took the lead to dodge, the others snapped out of their initial shock, letting out odd cries, flames flashing from their bodies, also rushing toward the manor. With life on the brink, they unleashed astonishing power, as red silhouettes streaked toward the manor like meteors. The sudden retreat of these Fire Pattern Superpower Users triggered a not insignificant energy fluctuation, as so many Superpower Users suddenly began frantically exerting their power in a frantic escape.
This moderate energy fluctuation caused Shu and El, hovering in mid-air, to feel a strange force pulling them downward slightly, but fortunately, the pull didn't last long, disappearing quickly, allowing Shu and El to stabilize. After passively moving a bit downward, Shu realized the oppressive force from the Giant Sword had diminished somewhat. He didn't have time to think further, as years of combat instinct led him to swiftly drag El to the side.
In his descent, Grant naturally noticed Shu's move; as Shu, with El, darted aside, Grant let out an angry roar, gripping the sword handle and slashing in the direction of Shu's flight. Now the Fire Pattern Superpower Users had mostly fled the Giant Sword's attack range; Grant had no further concerns and held nothing back.
The Giant Sword, initially slashing straight down, under Grant's control, changed direction toward Shu's back. Feeling the massive pressure and fierce killing intent on his back, Shu felt a chill, but he didn't dare look back, much less turn to counter, knowing any action now would be disastrous, continuing to flee was his only slim chance of survival.
Just as the pink Giant Sword was about to strike Shu's back, a flash of green light suddenly appeared in front of the sword, and a whirlwind appeared out of nowhere. At the moment the whirlwind formed, a clear bird chirp came from within. At the last second, the green bird caught up with the Giant Sword, positioning itself between it and Shu.
The moment the green bird appeared, it unhesitatingly pecked at the blade. The bird's claws hadn't regenerated, leaving only its sharp beak as a weapon. The green-glowing beak barely made contact with the blade before a metallic clashing sound rang out, sparks bursting from the point of contact. As the sparks flew, the green bird barely let out a mournful cry before its beak shattered, its body splitting in two as the Giant Sword cleaved down, instantly dissolving into Wind Force and dispersing with no trace left behind.
The green bird didn't stall the Giant Sword for long, but the brief moment it managed was enough for the Wind Element Superpower User Shu, carrying El, to gain a slim chance and escape further away.
Cleaving through the green bird, Grant merely snorted coldly, then exerted a bit more force, causing the Giant Sword to slash down even faster. Yet, claiming Shu and El's lives at this point had become nigh impossible. Grant's form continued to plummet quickly, he, not being a Wind Element Superpower User, couldn't remain airborne long, and his descent hastened. Watching Shu and El evade his lethal strike, Grant sighed softly, but wasn't about to give up. Gripping the sword handle with one hand, he formed his other into a palm, ready to strike down against the end of the sword handle.
