Urban Immortal Cultivation Supreme

Chapter 865: Begin Alchemy

"So, there is only one reason left now - they are monitoring me, or rather, observing me!"

After careful consideration, Zhu Bufan came to this conclusion.

"Hehe, since that's the case, this young master naturally has to entertain you all properly!" Saying this, a devilish smile appeared on Zhu Bufan's face.

In the following two days, Zhu Bufan, with two invisible tails following him, crazily wandered through Nanli City. These places included brothels, gambling houses, the Duel Arena... various establishments of pleasure and unrestrained joy.

And shadowing Zhu Bufan, of course, were two individuals: Baldy and Scarface. Since their young miss had not yet delivered their instructions, all they could do for now was to covertly keep a watch on Zhu Bufan, understanding his nature and personality, in preparation for future actions.

"Damn it, big brother, the information we got said this kid usually keeps a low profile and stays out of the public eye, but looking at how he's behaved these past two days, it's not like that at all!"

Thinking about how that youngster up front was indulging in food and drink, while they could only hide in the darkness, jealously watching the scene and sucking in the cold northwest wind, this feeling of being utterly frustrated was almost driving Scarface mad.

"You're right, this kid does seem very abnormal! Could it be that he's noticed us following him?" Baldy murmured with a frown.

"Impossible, completely impossible!" Scarface immediately and forcefully denied. "Boss, we're the young miss's Shadow Guards. Even though our Cultivation isn't the highest, when it comes to concealing our tracks, even Old Crane had high praise for us. This kid is only at the Fifth Rank - how could he possibly detect us?"

"You make sense, I was worrying over nothing. It's probably just that this kid has suppressed his frustration for over ten years, and now that it's erupting, his true nature is unavoidably exposed. What we're seeing now might just be his way of venting!" Baldy guessed, his reasoning sound and plausible.

"But... but are we just going to stand by and watch, him feasting upfront while we... we just run around after him?"

Strangely enough, like in the restaurants when Baldy and company had just ordered their meals, Zhu Bufan would choose exactly that moment to leave, forcing them to follow him with empty stomachs.

"Hmph, after following for two days, it's pretty much clear. There's nothing impressive about this kid; I thought he was someone significant at first, but now it seems like I've overestimated him!" Glancing at Zhu Bufan lying in the company of seductive women, a hint of disdain flashed in Baldy's eyes, thinking to himself, "Such a character dares to compete with Young Master Zhengde for the position of Crown Prince? Ridiculous!"

"So, big brother, do we continue following him?" Scarface asked in a low voice.

"Follow my ass! Let's go get some good food; haven't had a drink in two days and I'm nearly starved for it. If nothing goes wrong, we should receive a reply from the young miss today!" As soon as Baldy finished speaking, his entire figure paused, then the silhouette left behind slowly faded and eventually disappeared completely.

"Big brother, wait for me! There's a share of the liquor that old man Yuheng sent for me too; you can't hog it all!" Scarface shouted and shot out, chasing after the direction where Baldy had vanished.

...

Zhu Bufan was currently lying in the arms of a beautiful and enticing woman, seemingly intoxicated. Yet, most of his attention was on the Sensing Crystal in his chest.

"Two days, it's about time to leave!" Zhu Bufan thought to himself.

As soon as the thought emerged, two beams of light on the Sensing Crystal shot towards the distance, disappearing beyond the crystal's range in the blink of an eye.

"They're gone!" Zhu Bufan's half-closed eyes suddenly opened wide, and the drunken expression on his face completely vanished.

"Ah yo, young master, that sudden movement of yours really scared me!" The woman clutched her chest, feigning shock.

After tossing his coin purse down, which clinked with the sound of silver, Zhu Bufan quickly departed.

"Ah, young master, why leave so swiftly? This servant girl still wanted to serve you well," the woman said, grasping the purse and realizing it contained as many as fifty taels of silver. Overjoyed, she placed the coins against her chest.

...

Returning to Huanxin Garden, though he was confident the people secretly tailing him had left, Zhu Bufan still checked with the Sensing Crystal.

He closed the door and walked over to the wardrobe, looking down.

Several drops of intact candle wax lay at the entrance of the wardrobe, prompting Zhu Bufan to chuckle, "Seems like they haven't rummaged through his belongings while he was away."

Without pulling open the wardrobe, Zhu Bufan approached the furnace and used an iron rod to stir the red-hot coals, revealing a black, nondescript box at the bottom of the stove.

Within this box were the ingredients and tools Zhu Bufan was preparing to refine the Death Potion.

This Death Potion, aside from being highly toxic, had another characteristic—it wasn't a blood poison, but an internal poison.

The so-called blood poison targets the bloodstream, typically smeared on various weapons; during combat, it enters the bloodstream through skin lacerations, leading to death.

Internal Poison is such that to take effect, it must be ingested; otherwise, it cannot work.

The Death Potion Zhu Bufan planned to concoct was indeed an internal poison.

Drawing from his experience with refining Confusion Powder, Zhu Bufan had a better grasp of the heat control.

However, unlike Confusion Powder, the process of refining the Death Potion was more complex. The evaporated condensation was the antidote to the Death Potion, so it had to be collected carefully.

With a copper mirror hanging above the medicine pot, slightly tilted, Zhu Bufan began this round of alchemy.

As with Confusion Powder, he started by sealing the pot and slowly extracting the medicinal properties of various ingredients with boiling water, intermittently adding materials in sequence.

With each addition, the liquid inside the medicine pot changed colors.

Green, yellow, green, purple, black... growing darker and darker.

A strange and putrid stench increasingly grew, and even though Zhu Bufan's mouth and nose were tightly covered with a wet cloth, he could still smell the vile odor that made him feel nauseated.

The Death Potion got its name from the small green grass Zhu Bufan now held in his hands—a grass no taller than two inches, with a vivid green nearly transparent, and fresh as if just plucked.

Almost half the money spent on these ingredients went to this tiny green grass.

This was the notorious Death Grass. The size of Death Grass varied greatly, with the largest being seven to nine feet tall, taller than the average person, but their toxicity was minimal; accidental ingestion only caused dizziness and headache with no serious consequences. But the smaller ones, around half an inch, were highly toxic. And the notoriety of Death Grass originated from once poisoning to death a practitioner of the Innate Realm.
