Chapter 1070: Your Heart Is in Turmoil

It seems that at the moment of understanding, the scenery around him also began to blur. Without anyone needing to remind him, Ah Xing immediately closed his eyes. He knew that his mental realm was affecting his vision. If he allowed this feeling to develop further, he might not be able to tell if this was reality or an illusion.

With closed eyes, he sat cross-legged and calmed his previously fluctuating mental realm. The city model that had been incredibly clear began to blur, the constructed lines scattered one by one, and the entire city's model disappeared in the blink of an eye. The remaining light vanished without a trace in an instant, as if he had returned to that dark environment.

The sensations that had been incredibly sharp also started to dull, as if the entire world disappeared at that moment.

If this world is false, then Tang Mu is also false, and so are the events occurring in this world. What about Qi Yan? Did he enter the realm of the Five Elders from the moment he met Qi Yan, or even earlier?

Question after question arose, followed by one denial after another.

Just as Ah Xing was caught in this tangled state, a flash of light suddenly crossed his dark mind. Ah Xing abruptly opened his tightly closed eyes, two cold gleams piercing through the darkness. His face, which was slightly pale, exhaled heavily, and his complexion improved somewhat.

"Almost fell for it."

Standing up, he looked up at the sky above, a faint smile on his face. The city model that had disappeared from his mind reappeared, and the dull feelings recovered. He glanced at the surrounding buildings, and nothing had changed. Everything in this city was the same, naturally giving people a strange feeling.

"Really well calculated."

He sighed deeply, looked at the empty space, his eyes flashing with brilliance. Then he continued moving forward.

The superpower users, who he couldn't sense just now, all appeared within his sensing range at this moment. The few superpower users in the whole city were under Ah Xing's grasp except for Tang Mu, who was still nowhere to be found. But this time, Ah Xing had no doubts. He stopped, looking in one direction, as if waiting for something, or as if he was seeing something.

"I didn't expect you to have such abilities." Ah Xing spoke lightly, seemingly talking to himself, yet it also seemed as if he was speaking to someone.

There was no one in the darkness; there never was. But in Ah Xing's eyes, there stood a person, an old acquaintance. That person was also looking at Ah Xing, with a hint of mockery in his eyes, and the corners of his mouth slightly curved into a smile. The silent smile inexplicably cold and, strangely, somewhat familiar.

"If possible, I really don't want to admit this fact." Ah Xing continued speaking, still as if he was talking to himself, looking at the darkness ahead, at this old acquaintance, this person who once captured him, "But, unfortunately, the happenings of this world aren't decided by us. I just don't understand why you are doing this."

"Curious?" After a strange fluctuation emerged in the dark, a figure suddenly appeared. That person had a similar smile-disguised expression. It was Tang Mu, but he felt unlike Tang Mu, a very alien feeling emanated from him. Not like the Tang Mu exuding kingly aura during the day, nor the amiable Tang Mu of the past, but a completely unfamiliar Tang Mu.

"Who are you?" As soon as he saw Tang Mu, Ah Xing asked.

"Tang Mu." A calm reply came from the person, the smile-disguised expression unchanged.

"No, you're not Tang Mu." Ah Xing couldn't associate the person before him with the Tang Mu he knew; they were too different. If merely judged by feeling, they were entirely two different people.

"If not Tang Mu, then who am I?" Tang Mu wasn't angry, he just looked at Ah Xing, his expression unmoving.

That's right, if not Tang Mu, then who is this person before him? Ah Xing felt his heart leap. He relied on his senses to conclude that the person before him wasn't Tang Mu, but if not Tang Mu, then he must have acquired the supposed legacy. But how could these old people have a legacy? Could the Five Elders' methods be so advanced as to manipulate someone of Tang Mu's level? After all, when they controlled Qi Yan back then, it was merely by using Yin Ning's affair to entice him, not manipulation.

If the Five Elders truly had such means, wouldn't Ah Xing have already fallen into their trap? After a bout of wild thoughts, Ah Xing had no way to ascertain the person's identity before him, instead he muddled his originally clear thoughts. He had just determined that the world before him was the real world, and then Tang Mu appeared, confusing everything again.

"You are indeed Tang Mu." After myriad thoughts flashed through his mind, Ah Xing finally concluded that the Tang Mu before him hadn't been manipulated and existed truly. As for the alterations in demeanor, they were likely caused by certain experiences. After all, until now, Ah Xing didn't know how long he had stayed in that dark space, or what had transpired outside. Even if Tang Mu had changed, it was not surprising.

"Almost deceived by you." Ah Xing exhaled slightly, suppressing his frightened expression. He felt tonight was his most unsettled night, not because he lacked calm but simply because the opponent was exceptionally formidable. The Five Elders indeed weren't harmless.

Tang Mu just smiled slightly, without speaking or providing further explanations. He looked at Ah Xing, seemingly wanting to see something emerge. After a long silence, he finally spoke: "Yesterday, when you took the opportunity to escape, I knew you would follow, just didn't expect you'd find your way here so soon. You're looking for Qing He, aren't you?" He precisely stated Ah Xing's purpose.

"Where is he?" Ah Xing didn't deny his purpose.

"He's not here."

"I asked where he is." Ah Xing's face began to change, his heart suddenly flaring with anger for reasons unknown, his expression turning ferocious as if ready to lash out at Tang Mu.

"He's not here." Tang Mu maintained his response, his smile-disguised expression unchanged, as if oblivious to Ah Xing's ferocious demeanor.

"I asked where he is!" Roaring deeply, Ah Xing lunged forward like a hunting leopard, energy fluctuations burst forth from him, unprecedented, like a flood beast about to swallow Tang Mu.

Seeing Ah Xing lunging at him, Tang Mu slowly retreated a step, his figure blurred and immediately disappeared from the spot. Ah Xing's lunge missed, and he completely lost track of Tang Mu's whereabouts.

"Your mind is disturbed." Tang Mu said lightly, "Since you came here, your mind has been disturbed. This is unlike you."

"None of your business!" Ah Xing roared again, lunging out faster than before.

This time, Tang Mu stood still, waiting for Ah Xing to pounce, then lightly waved his hand, a wind arose, forcefully halting Ah Xing's charge, and with a gentle push, nudging Ah Xing back. Gazing at Ah Xing calmly, Tang Mu said softly: "You should go. Don't interfere with these matters, you cannot handle them." He was actually letting Ah Xing leave.

"Tell me, where is Qing He." Ah Xing, grinding his teeth, stared at Tang Mu. Already disoriented, Ah Xing outright ignored Tang Mu's previous words, glaring at him, as if ready to tear the person before him apart.

Yet Tang Mu was entirely unconcerned with Ah Xing's gaze and Ah Xing's prowess. He knew Ah Xing's ability well. Even though Ah Xing displayed ferocity akin to a wolf at the moment, it was of no use.

"Go now. Leave here, leave this planet." Tang Mu inexplicably showed a hint of compassion, covering his smile-disguised expression completely. Such abrupt change occurred on Tang Mu without any abrupt feeling.

Ah Xing finally understood the meaning in Tang Mu's words, his expression suddenly stiffening beyond imagination. He couldn't comprehend why Tang Mu suddenly said this, but just from Tang Mu's eyes, he knew he wasn't joking. Giving Tang Mu a last glance, Ah Xing darted away without turning back.
