Chapter 1068: Enraged
Feeling Ah Xing's gaze, Tang Mu stopped his laughter, maintaining a faint smile on his face. Turning to look at Ah Xing, he asked, "Is something the matter?" It was a strange question, as Ah Xing was the one in trouble, and Tang Mu had appeared by chance. When two old acquaintances meet again after a long separation, such a question created an unfamiliarity that wedged itself between them.
"Where is Qing He?" Ah Xing knew that the matter he was concerned with needed to be asked. After all, only a few of the old folks remain on this planet, and not asking seemed callous.
"I don't know." Tang Mu shook his head and replied softly. His voice was somewhat ethereal, almost dissolving in the wind.
Ah Xing's eye twitched; he remembered Qing He being with Tang Mu. How could Tang Mu not know her whereabouts? But he didn't question it openly, having already guessed some of the circumstances. Just as Qi Yan had said, he was already out of the game, while they had only just been entangled in it.
No wonder the Five Elders had let him out. No wonder they were so confident. It turned out everything was part of their plan.
"Are these all your people?" Ah Xing looked at the Superpower Users standing behind Tang Mu, exuding an intense murderous aura. Even without asking, the situation earlier had already revealed the answer. Asking was just an attempt to change the subject.
Hearing the question, Tang Mu waved a regal hand and said, "What do you think?"
"Very good," Ah Xing replied flatly, taking a step back discreetly, calculating how to take his leave. Yet, before he could utter his farewell, Tang Mu spoke first.
"Let's go, I'll take you to rest in the city." Without waiting for Ah Xing's consent, he grasped Ah Xing and flew off in a direction. The people behind Tang Mu immediately followed, while the others hesitated briefly before hurriedly pursuing. They dared not delay, or their lives could be at stake.
Several times Ah Xing tried to break free from Tang Mu's grip, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't escape. Even though he was strong, he was still far from Tang Mu's level. Reluctantly, he was taken along. Having gathered information in recent days, he had a rough idea of which faction Tang Mu belonged to, or rather, the faction Tang Mu had built.
Ah Xing couldn't figure out whether Qi Yan's affairs had affected Tang Mu so deeply or if it was the Five Elders scheming behind the scenes. But he couldn't ask, as Tang Mu remained tight-lipped, face tense, lips pursed. Despite his racing thoughts, he couldn't voice any of them. He didn't know how Tang Mu would deal with him. If even Qing He could be harmed, his fate being in Tang Mu's hands didn't bode well.
As they flew, Ah Xing's brow suddenly knitted, his face turning deathly pale, as if in extreme pain, like he had been injured. He opened his mouth and retched, expelling a heap of foul matter.
The sudden sound startled Tang Mu, who turned to find Ah Xing vomiting continuously, face pallid with no trace of color. The foul matter splattered in midair, hitting those running on the ground.
The Superpower Users below were filled with hatred but couldn't dare express it. What could they do? That person was their leader's friend. Even being splattered with filth was bearable, considering the leader wouldn't oppose if they were killed. Yet the nausea lingered.
Seeing Ah Xing in such a state, Tang Mu quickly descended, letting Ah Xing empty his stomach on the ground; he didn't want to take someone constantly vomiting into the city—too nauseating.
On landing, Ah Xing found a quiet corner and continued to vomit forcefully. Finding it too disgusting, Tang Mu didn't follow, nor did he assign anyone to watch Ah Xing.
After a while, the vomiting noises diminished, and Ah Xing's face regained color, his painful expression vanished. To avoid arousing Tang Mu's suspicion, Ah Xing continued making retching sounds. Meanwhile, he concealed his Qi and prepared to slip away secretly. He didn't want to be detained by Tang Mu. Although Tang Mu seemed not inclined to kill him for now, there was no guarantee for the future.
Feigning to vomit, Ah Xing silently slipped away. Despite the many people present, they failed to notice him concealing his Qi and quietly leaving.
Tang Mu was contemplating his plans when he suddenly noticed the vomiting sounds stopped; alarmed, he realized Ah Xing's presence was gone. His expression changed as he rushed to check, finding only the foul matter on the ground and no sign of Ah Xing. Enraged, Tang Mu shouted, jolting those resting into formation.
"Find that person just now. If they resist, kill without mercy." Tang Mu commanded coldly, his face now filled with intense killing intent. He couldn't just let Ah Xing leave; if he couldn't control Ah Xing, he was ordered to eliminate him. He knew how much trouble Ah Xing could cause. If that guy stirred up trouble, it could become unmanageable.
Anticipating Tang Mu's approach, Ah Xing had already hidden and observed the scene from a distance. With his skills, Tang Mu couldn't find him, let alone the far weaker Superpower Users.
After half a day, the searchers returned empty-handed, a clear sign to Tang Mu that they had lost track of Ah Xing. Despite anticipating this result, Tang Mu's face was stony with suppressed rage as he glared at them.
"Can't even find one person, what use are you!" he roared, and the nearest person was suddenly shredded apart by a wind. Killing one person didn't quell Tang Mu's anger, but he couldn't keep killing them all.
"Continue searching for him; the rest, return to the city with me." He ordered harshly, then turned to fly toward the city. The ones tasked with finding Ah Xing could only continue their fruitless search, cursing Ah Xing inwardly yet unable to do anything but comply.
Under the cover of night, Ah Xing cautiously emerged. He didn't believe Tang Mu would harm Qing He, figuring she must be detained. So, he stealthily followed in Tang Mu's direction. He didn't wish to enter the city with Tang Mu, but that didn't mean he wouldn't enter at all. Only in the place Tang Mu built could he gather more information.
Cautiously flying, Ah Xing meticulously concealed his presence. He knew the Five Elders were monitoring him, and if he didn't become invisible, they'd quickly track him down. But what meaning was there in the Five Elders letting Tang Mu rule this planet? Was it like Qi Yan's extermination plan?
Without complete information, Ah Xing couldn't fathom the Five Elders' plans. He wanted to find those old folks for insight, but they were well hidden, and Ah Xing couldn't possibly trace them.
The night was dark, a perfect environment for camouflage. Along the way, Ah Xing encountered small patrols, but couldn't distinguish if they were Tang Mu's men. He didn't reveal himself, having resolved to remain hidden as long as possible.
After traveling for most of the night, when the moon was high in the sky, he finally saw the silhouette of a city. Its bright lights were like beacons lighting the road to the future.
