Chapter 1062: Growing Tension
From the looks of it, Yi Tian and Xiao Ruo are clearly in cahoots. If these people manage to breach the edge, it will be akin to Xiao Ruo and the others gaining control of the edge. How could they tolerate such a situation?
The road is not long, yet at this moment, it seems endless. No matter how fast Yi Tian goes, he cannot reach the edge. People keep appearing alongside Yi Tian, trying to block his path. He sidesteps one person after another, but no matter how skilled his movement technique is, he cannot dodge indefinitely.
Bang, a burst of firelight suddenly appeared in front of Yi Tian, forcefully blocking his way.
Seeing this burst of firelight appear and block his path, Yi Tian, already anxious, has no time to deal with these unwelcome intrusions. With a furious roar, he punches out fiercely, and the silver light directly pierces through the red firelight, whistling past. A large void appears in the soaring flames, as well as on the body hidden within the flames. The man's eyes widen in disbelief; he barely sees Yi Tian make a move before feeling a chill in his chest, and the flames surrounding him collapse.
Yi Tian brushes past the man without even glancing at the condition of the person. In such circumstances, Yi Tian's every move is lethal, ignoring any notion of mercy.
Once he passes that man, he approaches the edge zone. Unlike the hectic chaos outside, the edge remains silent except for the necessary lights, with no other sounds or energy fluctuations. Only the patrolling individuals walk outside, checking the surroundings. The people at the edge dislike trouble, especially at times like this.
Upon seeing the patrol soldiers near the edge, Yi Tian bellows.
"Situ Hao, come out!"
This shout pierces the skies, echoing through the night.
Most people are caught off guard by this shout, not expecting Yi Tian to yell so inexplicably.
They only see a figure shining with silver light, like a demon king, roaring in the dark.
The patrols at the edge see Yi Tian charging and the large group following him. They don't know what's happening, but the fierce aura from this crowd is unmistakably clear. Alarming shouts are sounded immediately, prompting more edge inhabitants to rush out of their rooms, heading toward the source of the alarm. A slightly chaotic situation arises in the edge zone, with noise disturbing its quietude.
"Situ Hao, come out!"
He yells again, repeating the name, and Yi Tian's expression grows increasingly ferocious. He no longer cares about the rationality of his actions. All he knows is that if he doesn't hurry, Yi Yun will die. Roaring, he charges toward the edge, his face full of fierce determination and killing intent.
As people from the edge begin to approach, they do so cautiously.
Seeing people approach with weapons and such, Yi Tian's expression changes again, not understanding why these people oppose him. He doesn't understand why Situ Hao hasn't appeared yet. His face becomes increasingly menacing, and the silver light on his body begins to fluctuate.
"Get out of my way!"
His killing intent erupts, mixed with a rich blood-red hue, resembling an invisible wind forming in front of him, then sweeping outward. Before these people can touch Yi Tian, they see a crimson scene of turmoil, and the deadly sounds reverberate in their ears. What kind of situation is this? No one understands, but as they hear and witness these phenomena, a hint of fear emerges deep inside, as if their nostrils are filled with a bloody aura.
People at the edge abruptly halt not because they don't want to advance, but because they simply cannot. The pressure emanating from Yi Tian forces them to pause. Unlike those who follow rules, the edge is essentially a ragtag band, able to maintain internal order but lacking unified coordination when faced with external threats. Just like now, when confronted with life-threatening circumstances, they scatter like scared animals.
Though the people at the edge might disperse, the pursuers behind Yi Tian won't scatter. Despite the dominant killing intent, they show no fear; their sole aim is to stop Yi Tian.
Yi Tian pays no heed to the pursuers behind him, solely focused on entering the edge. Meanwhile, he senses Shu's location, then yells again, this time louder, with greater killing intent, as though seeking a foe as deeply hated as a father-killer.
Finally, the deafening roar prompts a reaction from Situ Hao and others inside the edge. Initially, they only heard the noise outside. For those exhausted from running, avoiding trouble is the wisest choice, leading them to smartly hide inside, not stepping out.
Then came indistinct shouting, seemingly from someone screaming their heart out, but unclear in content. A further call is heard, slightly clearer, but still muddled by layers of obstruction and outside noise.
Then, a third call, infused with strands of killing intent, reaches Shu and the others distinctly. The voice is familiar, but before understanding the situation, a heavy sound comes from outside, followed by the old wooden door being kicked open, sending splinters flying.
The sudden situation startles Shu and others, causing them to unleash their energy instantly, whirling up a storm inside the little room. Before seeing who arrived, they catch sight of a silver flash, followed by Situ Hao's cry from behind them. The cry, like a warning, prompts Shu and others to turn and ready to attack, only to see a blood-covered figure grabbing Situ Hao, with another person lying on the ground.
The blood-covered figure emits a faint silver light, dividing the small room into two halves. Even with Shu and others suddenly attacking, they can't breach this layer of silver light.
"Quick, save him." Yi Tian roars, covered in blood, his face filled with urgency, having placed Yi Yun on the ground.
Yi Yun's situation isn't good; his once fair face is blurred with blood, body convulsing violently like an electrocuted figure, eyes flipped up revealing bloodshot whites. Occasionally, his body arches, forming a bridge-like stance. Such a bizarre scene would shock anyone.
Initially, Situ Hao doesn't recognize the blood-covered figure, hesitating slightly until Yi Tian speaks, snapping him back to reality. He hurriedly crouches to assess Yi Yun's condition. As soon as his hand touches Yi Yun, Yi Yun convulses more violently, blood pouring from his mouth.
The nauseating blood surges from his mouth, a shocking sight. Yi Yun's throat emits raspy sounds, his body icy cold, limbs twitching, with fingers contorted.
"Yi Yun." Yi Tian calls, but gets no response.
Silver light flickers from Situ Hao's hand. Just a glance at Yi Yun's condition reveals the cause, prompting him to use his energy to alleviate Yi Yun's pain. But Yi Yun's condition is dire; despite his best efforts, he can't alleviate Yi Yun's suffering at all. As time passes, Yi Yun's convulsions slow down from their original intensity, and the blood from his mouth also lessens.
Although the situation appears to improve, Situ Hao grows increasingly anxious instead of relaxing.
Suddenly, Yi Yun pauses after convulsing violently, showing no further reaction, while Situ Hao sits there, exhausted, face blank.
