Chapter 1296: Assault on the Black Flood Dragon
Qin Hao and the others slightly nodded. A few minutes later, they reached the seabed and then began to spread out to search.
This sea area had no powerful sea monsters, because the surrounding tens of thousands of miles was the territory of the black dragon. Any powerful sea creatures were either killed by it or had fled.
A tiger on its couch does not allow others to snore.
The deep sea was not completely dark. On the contrary, it was somewhat bright. A special substance beneath the sea lit up during the day when sunlight penetrated the ocean, but at night it turned completely dark.
Finally, after half an hour, Qin Hao received a jade message from Su Xuanji. She had found the black dragon's lair.
Soon Qin Hao, Ning Ziyuan, Ding Jinyang, and Cang Tai all rushed over.
Su Xuanji pointed to a seabed mountain not far ahead and said, "There is a cave there. It should be the lair of the black dragon."
Qin Hao and the others cautiously searched with their Divine Sense. At the base of the mountain, indeed, there was a cave, and above the entrance were three ancient characters: Black Dragon Hall.
Ning Ziyuan softly said, "This should be an ancient-era lair. The three characters for Black Dragon Hall are clearly written in ancient script."
Cang Tai was shocked and said, "Could that black dragon be from ancient times?"
The others looked at him with expressions like he was an idiot.
Cang Tai looked puzzled: "What's wrong? Did I say something wrong? Is it not from ancient times?"
Su Xuanji unceremoniously retorted, "If this black dragon were an ancient creature, do you think it would be so weak? It would have conquered the entire continent by now. Obviously, this is an ancient lair that it discovered and then used its fortune within to evolve into a dragon."
Ning Ziyuan and the others nodded slightly. That sounded like a more reasonable explanation; the black dragon couldn't possibly be a relic of ancient times.
Cang Tai, somewhat unwilling, said, "Maybe it's just the grandson. Its grandfather might have been a powerful figure from ancient times."
...
"Idiot!"
Su Xuanji said speechlessly.
Qin Hao also thought this guy was a bit dim-witted. He didn't know what kind of creature Cang Tai really was, but it seemed not to be the smartest of species.
Ding Jinyang could not help but take two steps away, afraid that Cang Tai's intelligence would somehow infect him.
Ning Ziyuan: "That black dragon is probably healing inside its lair right now. We should sneak in stealthily and attack when the opportunity arises. If discovered, we attack together."
They nodded in agreement, then concealed their presence and slowly approached the Black Dragon Hall.
A few minutes later, Qin Hao and the others arrived outside the Black Dragon Hall. At this time, the entrance to the lair was completely sealed. The entrance to the Black Dragon Hall was a stone door descending from above.
The stone door had already descended, and unless someone inside opened it, it could only be forcefully broken through.
Qin Hao and the others examined it, finding no loopholes at all. After all, it was an ancient lair, though not as glorious as it once was, it wasn't something easily opened.
"Does anyone have a way to open the stone door? If not, then we have to resort to force," Ning Ziyuan said.
Qin Hao said, "Since the black dragon was able to enter, it means the lair can be accessed. Let's look around, there might be a mechanism."
Upon hearing this, Ning Ziyuan and the others thought it made sense and began searching while considering various possibilities.
After searching for quite a while and finding no mechanism, Su Xuanji said, "There are several ways to open an ancient lair, such as using Bloodline Power or Formations. How about we try Bloodline Power?"
Qin Hao looked at Ning Ziyuan and the others: "What species are you all? Can it work?"
"Let's try, maybe it will." Ning Ziyuan had the peacock divine beast's bloodline, which bore some relation to dragonkind, so it might be effective.
First, Cang Tai and Ding Jinyang dripped their blood on the stone door, but there was no reaction. Then it was Su Xuanji and Ning Ziyuan's turn. Their bloodlines were extraordinary, their blood emitted a faint golden glow, yet still, nothing happened.
Qin Hao also cut his finger, his blood similarly faintly golden but with a hint of purple. As his blood dripped on the stone door, there was no reaction either.
But a few seconds later, the stone door suddenly emitted a glow; soon after, the light receded, and the stone door began to lift slowly.
Ning Ziyuan and the others were stunned. No way, it actually worked??
This black dragon belonged to the monster clan in ancient times, as do we, so why did his blood work but not ours??
Qin Hao was also surprised and puzzled as to why his blood could open the stone door of this ancient lair.
Ning Ziyuan and Su Xuanji gave him a deep look, filled with doubt. Could his blood harbor the bloodline of a divine dragon??
"Let's go, inside. The black dragon is probably still unaware that the stone door has been opened." Qin Hao concealed his aura and headed inside the lair.
Ning Ziyuan and the others followed. First, they entered a corridor adorned with head-sized Luminous Pearls on the stone walls, with one every few meters, giving it a luxurious appearance.
Soon they passed through the corridor, and ahead appeared a palace, majestic and grandiose.
Above the entrance to the palace hung a plaque labeled Black Dragon Hall.
Ning Ziyuan used Divine Sense to say, "I can sense the breath of the black dragon, it's inside this palace."
Qin Hao and the others exchanged glances, silently creeping closer to the Black Dragon Hall. They entered through the palace gates.
At the front of the palace, a gigantic dragon lay across a jade bed, which emitted a glowing luster with pure Spiritual Energy and dragon aura overflowing from within.
The areas of the black dragon's body that were wounded had sprouted tender scales. Its injuries were severe and not likely to recover soon.
Qin Hao and the others exchanged looks and resolutely attacked. Two struck at the dragon's reverse scales, two targeted its head, while Qin Hao wielded the War God spear to strike its wounded areas.
This sudden outbreak caught the black dragon completely off guard. It had not expected cultivators to infiltrate this place. The stone door was clearly closed, and it was an ancient lair. How was it breached?
Even if someone managed to open it, why did I not sense anything?
"Sizzling"
Several attacks directly pierced into the black dragon's body, especially Qin Hao's; the War God spear's shaft was half lodged into the dragon.
The black dragon, enraged, writhed its body. Qin Hao and the others, having succeeded with the first strike, quickly retreated.
The palace was vast and equally sturdy. Despite the recent battle, it remained unscathed.
The black dragon already gravely wounded, was now further injured. Its blood-red, merciless eyes were lantern-sized, glaring furiously at Qin Hao and his group: "Who are you?"
