Chapter 74:
The corner of Jiang Yuan's lips curled into a smirk, revealing a trace of disdain. This was directed not only at the Blood Droplet List but also at Tao Gong.
Tao Gong laughed awkwardly and quickly changed the subject. "Elder Qi, once we get our hands on the prescription, how should we divide the profits?"
"A ninety-ten split," Qi Qingfeng said indifferently. "You take one part, I take nine."
Tao Gong's expression changed instantly. He put down his wine glass and let out a hollow laugh. "Elder Qi, you have a real sense of humor!"
"I'm not joking," Qi Qingfeng stated.
The smile on Tao Gong's face gradually froze. "Qi Qingfeng," he said grimly, "aren't you going too far?"
"You should know who I represent. Shouldn't you be grateful for even getting a share?" Qi Qingfeng's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes grew sharper, like two daggers.
"You..." Tao Gong shot to his feet, glaring at Qi Qingfeng with undisguised hostility.
Qi Qingfeng remained as still as a statue.
Jiang Yuan, standing to the side, took a step forward. "Say one more word," he said, his face a mask, "and you die."
CLATTER!
The seven or eight bodyguards on standby in the office immediately swarmed forward, surrounding them.
Tao Gong's lip twitched as he stared coldly at Jiang Yuan.
Jiang Yuan produced a silver pistol, followed by a silencer, which he screwed on with unhurried movements, his head slightly lowered, not even sparing Tao Gong a glance.
At this, Tao Gong's expression changed drastically, and he stumbled back three steps.
The bodyguards looked terrified, trembling where they stood.
He has a gun?
GULP.
Tao Gong swallowed hard, his features tense.
Qi Qingfeng smiled. "Jiang Yuan, put it away. President Tao is one of us."
Only then did Jiang Yuan put the gun away.
Tao Gong let out a huge sigh of relief, feeling as if he had just escaped death's clutches. He quickly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
"President Tao, do you have any other objections? If you do, feel free to speak up," Qi Qingfeng said, picking up his teacup in a leisurely manner.
Tao Gong was speechless.
Speak up? My ass! You bring a warlord who pulls a gun at the slightest disagreement, and you expect me to speak my mind?! Damn it!
Tao Gong viciously cursed Qi Qingfeng and his entire family tree in his mind.
This is blatant bullying!
However, no matter how furious he was, Tao Gong dared not show the slightest hint of it. Forcing a smile, he said, "Elder Qi represents the Qi Family. Since the Qi Family says I only get ten percent, then ten percent it is!"
"President Tao is a straightforward man!" Qi Qingfeng raised his wine glass in a toast to Tao Gong. "Considering the value of that prescription, even a ten-percent share represents a massive fortune."
"Yes, yes, of course," Tao Gong nodded repeatedly.
"Later, you will inform the Qin Corporation that they must hand over the prescription today. If they refuse," Qi Qingfeng said, shaking his head, "I'll have no choice but to let Jiang Yuan take action. I'm afraid a few more people will have to die by then."
A shiver went through Tao Gong. When it came to ruthlessness, he and Qi Qingfeng weren't even in the same league.
No wonder he's a servant granted the Qi family name!
Tao Gong nodded again. "Alright, alright. I'll leave everything for Elder Qi to decide."
"Well then, let's discuss the production details for after we get the prescription. Your Extreme Sea Pharmaceutical is both a drug manufacturer and the largest supplier of raw materials. Therefore, you'll be responsible for all production matters, including materials and labor costs."
Tao Gong fell silent.
So I get a ten-percent cut, but I have to cover all the costs? The Qi Family does nothing and still takes ninety percent? How is this any different from robbery?!
Seeing Tao Gong's silence, Qi Qingfeng smiled. "What? Does President Tao have an objection?"
"Uh, no, none at all!" Tao Gong managed to say through clenched teeth.
"It's alright. You can raise any objections you may have."
Tao Gong forced another smile. "I really don't have any."
"Since there are none, let's sign the contract." Qi Qingfeng took two contracts from his bag, evidently well-prepared.
Cursing the old fox in his heart, Tao Gong said, "Elder Qi, we haven't even gotten the prescription yet. Shouldn't we wait...?"
"Wait for what?" Qi Qingfeng tossed the contracts onto the table. "For me, getting that prescription is as easy as reaching into my own pocket. It's not a problem at all."
Hmm?
Jiang Yuan's brow suddenly furrowed. He turned his head toward the main door.
At that very second...
BANG!
The heavy, solid-wood door, weighing several hundred pounds, burst open without warning, sending splinters of wood flying everywhere like shrapnel.
Everyone in the office was startled. Qi Qingfeng leaped up from the sofa, his face dark.
Jiang Yuan moved sideways to shield him.
A young man appeared, dragging a bloody figure as he slowly walked in.
Tao Gong's pupils shrank in shock. "Ning... Ning Qiang?"
"You know him? Then he's yours." Chen Yang grinned. With a flex of his forearm, he flung Ning Qiang through the air like a puppet, and the man landed at Tao Gong's feet.
THUD!
Looking at Ning Qiang's gruesome state, Tao Gong ignored the blood that had spattered onto him and took several sharp breaths.
"Who... who are you?" Tao Gong stared at Chen Yang, a tightness in his throat, his limbs stiffening.
Just ten minutes ago, Ning Qiang was alive and kicking, but now...
What a gruesome sight!
Wiping the blood from his hands, Chen Yang strolled into the office. He gave the men a sweeping, indifferent glance, his gaze pausing for a moment on Jiang Yuan before he spoke. "Just two days ago, you hired someone to kill me. Have you already forgotten who I am?"
"Chen... Chen Yang?!" Tao Gong's eyes widened in astonishment. "You're the one who killed the assassin from the Blood Droplet List?"
"He's buried. If you want to collect his body, I can tell you where."
The muscles on Tao Gong's face twitched visibly.
Wasn't he supposed to be a good-for-nothing who lives off a woman? Since when did a loser like him become so imposing?
"President Tao, he's alone! Kill him now!" Ning Qiang struggled to lift his head, his voice filled with venom as he glared at Chen Yang.
Tao Gong's expression shifted several times before he turned to Qi Qingfeng. "Elder Qi, this guy is here for the prescription. I'll leave him to you."
Qi Qingfeng glanced at Chen Yang and waved his hand nonchalantly. "Jiang Yuan, kill him."
BOOM!
Jiang Yuan, a man of few words, launched himself forward without a sound. He moved like a hunting cheetah, his entire body radiating a sharp, deadly aura.
He threw a punch, creating a gust of wind that sent papers on the table rustling into the air.
A dense, murderous atmosphere filled the room, causing the very temperature to drop.
"Not bad," Chen Yang nodded. He took a single step forward and, with no extraneous movement, threw a simple punch of his own.
BANG!
The dull sound of impact rippled through the air.
Several meters away, Jiang Yuan crashed to the ground in a heap. He clutched his chest, his face pale and contorted in pain, his bloodshot eyes locked on Chen Yang.
SPURT!
A large mouthful of blood sprayed from his mouth. His spirit withered, and his body collapsed until he was half-kneeling on the ground.
Qi Qingfeng, Tao Gong, and the bodyguards all looked at each other in disbelief.
Wasn't Jiang Yuan supposed to be a veteran of countless battles in war zones? How could he not withstand a single punch?
"You've served as a Martial Guard? Your skills are decent," Chen Yang remarked with his hands behind his back, nodding in approval.
PTOOEY!
Jiang Yuan struggled to his feet and spat out a mouthful of bloody spittle. He calmly drew a pistol from behind his back and pointed its dark muzzle at Chen Yang.
