Chapter 460: No One Can Buy It!!
After leaving the hotel, Chen Yang, led by Yang Hu, arrived at a high-end bridal gown boutique. Because Yang Hu had notified them in advance with the requirements and measurements, and because the payment was so generous, five different styles of wedding gowns were already prepared in just a single day.
They were all stunning.
After scrutinizing them, Chen Yang was so dazzled he planned to take them all. He knew, however, that Li Si would ultimately make him choose just one.
Standing outside the shop smoking, Yang Hu couldn't help but laugh as he watched Chen Yang stand before the row of gowns, his expression tense. The mighty Nine Gates Admiral, known for his decisive and swift actions… when had he ever been so hesitant and full of doubt? If word of this reached Hanyun Valley, it would make for quite an amusing story.
After a good half-hour of hesitation, Chen Yang finally made a decision. In the end, he chose a red Xiuhe Suit embroidered with mandarin ducks and phoenixes. Unlike the others, this one was edged with gold thread, giving it an air of true luxury.
Carrying the gown out of the store, Chen Yang let out a huge sigh of relief.
Yang Hu, however, let out a sigh of his own. Sisi is actually getting married, but the groom isn't the Boss. I can't figure Chen Yang out, but for Li Si, this must be an incredibly cruel turn of events.
"Let's go," Chen Yang called to Yang Hu.
But they had barely taken a few steps before they both stopped dead in their tracks.
Not far off, a woman dressed in work clothes was holding a bag and glancing at her wristwatch. After a moment's hesitation, she finally headed for the entrance of a milk tea shop. After paying, she spoke a few words to the clerk, seeming to urge them to hurry up.
"Huh, isn't that Miss Zhou Yufei?" Yang Hu said in surprise. "Seeing how busy she looks, life mustn't be too easy for her."
"A woman starting a business on her own? Do you think that's easy?" Chen Yang felt a pang of guilt. After arriving on Qiyun Road, he had become so caught up in matters of his own lineage that he had completely neglected her. And she, for her part, hadn't taken the initiative to contact him since the day they parted.
While Zhou Yufei waited for her order, a group of young men eyed her with sleazy smiles. They then approached her to strike up a conversation.
Chen Yang's eyes immediately darkened, and he strode over.
Yang Hu blurted out an expletive, his gaze chilling.
"Sorry, I'm not interested in getting to know you." After she politely refused them several times and they continued to pester her, Zhou Yufei lost her patience. Her face turned stern and her tone became unfriendly.
"Yo, quite the fiery one." The ringleader of the youths—wearing a black jacket, tight capris, and tassel loafers, with a bag tucked under his arm—pressed forward instead of backing away.
"Yufei," Chen Yang called out.
Zhou Yufei whirled around, her beautiful eyes lighting up at the sight of him. She stepped forward. "Chen Yang, what brings you here?"
"Picking up some clothes for a friend." Chen Yang lifted the bag in his hand to show her, smiling. "Getting some milk tea?"
"You should get one too, my treat," Zhou Yufei said with a happy laugh, the earlier discomfort already forgotten.
"Alright."
The blond-haired youth approached, shooting Chen Yang a look before questioning Zhou Yufei, "What's the deal? I offer to buy you a drink and you refuse, but now you're treating some punk? Are you looking down on me?"
Chen Yang took Zhou Yufei by the arm and guided her to the counter. "Another cup of the original flavor, please," he called out to the clerk.
The blondie was immediately enraged. How dare this guy ignore me without even a single glance? Heh… If I don't show him what I'm made of, does he really think I, Long, am a softie?
After giving a signal to his companions, he headed straight for Chen Yang.
"Kid, what do you think you're doing?" Yang Hu stepped forward, blocking their path.
"Who the hell are you to spoil Long's fun?"
SMACK!
Yang Hu swung his hand and delivered a slap. Blood gushed from the blondie's nose and mouth. Staggering back several steps like a drunkard, he collapsed to the ground.
The others were instantly dumbfounded. What a heavy slap! Just the sound alone sent shivers down their spines.
Facing their horrified gazes, Yang Hu bared his teeth in a wide grin.
"Attack! All of you, attack!" the blondie shrieked as he struggled to his feet. He covered his swollen face with one hand and pointed at Yang Hu with the other. "Go on, attack!"
Yang Hu didn't say a word. He simply drew his handgun and held it loosely in his hand.
The blondie was speechless.
The others were speechless.
Who on earth had they provoked?
The blondie turned to run, but…
THUD.
He collided head-first with a pillar behind him and fell rigid as a board to the ground.
Yang Hu was amused. Is this guy an idiot?
The rest of the youths obediently knelt on the ground, not daring to make a single move.
"Here." Chen Yang handed a cup of white tea to Yang Hu.
Yang Hu pocketed his gun and grinned. "Thanks, Boss."
"Yufei, you've been busy lately, haven't you?" Chen Yang asked as they moved away from the counter.
Zhou Yufei smiled. "It's been alright. Fulfilling, at least." She quickly changed the subject. "I can't believe Li Si is getting married. You have good taste; that wedding dress is beautiful."
"I still have to buy her a gift," Chen Yang said, then turned to Yang Hu. "Didn't I hear on the radio that there's a jewelry exhibition at the Qiyun Road Exhibition Center?"
"That's right!" Yang Hu nodded. "They say a necklace called the Heart of the Ocean is the centerpiece of the exhibition."
"The Heart of the Ocean?" Zhou Yufei's eyes narrowed with curiosity. As a woman, she naturally paid more attention to jewelry than men did. How could she not have heard of it?
It was said to be the final masterpiece from the world's top jewelry designer. Only five were ever made, and four had already been sold during previous exhibitions. However, even someone who could afford the exorbitant price wasn't qualified to purchase it without sufficient status and prestige. In other words, the necklace chose its owner. Such a rare piece was bound to cause a sensation in every city it visited, drawing crowds who all wanted to catch a glimpse, especially the powerful and wealthy elites.
"Let's go have a look," Chen Yang told Yang Hu.
"Alright, I'll get the car ready."
Zhou Yufei stared at Chen Yang in disbelief. "Don't tell me you're thinking of buying that necklace for Li Si?"
"We'll see it first. If it's suitable, buying it would be ideal, of course," Chen Yang said with a smile.
"That necklace is incredibly expensive, and money alone isn't enough to get it," Zhou Yufei continued. "There are so many wealthy and influential people on Qiyun Road, yet not a single one is qualified to buy it."
"We'll just go and look first. Who knows, right?" Chen Yang said, stroking his chin.
Zhou Yufei was speechless. She wanted to argue but couldn't find the words.
"If you're not busy, why don't you come with us?"
"Sure!" Zhou Yufei was overjoyed, her heart fluttering. In truth, she had an important client to meet, but what was that compared to browsing an exhibition with Chen Yang?
「Qiyun Road Exhibition Center.」
In the brightly lit and bustling hall, crowds of people gathered around a massive glass display case in the center, whispering amongst themselves or taking photos. A pale purple necklace, like a sleeping beauty, lay quietly in the display case, captivating everyone's gaze.
"Not bad." Chen Yang nodded repeatedly. "It would definitely suit Sisi."
Zhou Yufei was taken aback. Is this guy overconfident, or what?
The people nearby began to turn their heads, casting strange looks at Chen Yang. A tall woman standing guard by the display case, in particular, shot him a mocking glance.
An awkward silence fell over their small group.
