Unshaken Bond

Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Accusation and Doubt

(Vito's POV)

I stood tall and imposing, towering over a student. My eyes blazed with cruelty as I sneered, "You think you can talk back while I'm speaking."

He trembled, his backpack clinging to his shoulders, as my hand closed around his collar.

"Apologize," I growled, my fangs bared.

He stuttered, "I-I'm sorry."

I released him with a shove. "Remember, this is my domain."

As the student scurried away, I could hear the others whispering about me with a hint of fear. Yes, I love the feeling of fear I instill in them, it makes me feel so proud of myself.

I didn't want to come to school today because last night, we went to hunt down the vampire's slayers, but an inexplicable urge drove me to school despite my reservations. And now that stupid punk has already provoked me.

I am Vito Reynolds, the vampire prince.

I derive joy in bullying others, their pain brings me so much peace.

Well, no one dares to stop me because my father rules the entire supernaturals.

But I have one enemy, one I don't know what he is, a mysterious guy.

He is no other than Zed Marcus, the only person I can't mess with.

I always feel intimidated when he is around and I'm still plotting a way to get him executed.

I get whatever I want, I suck blood from whoever I want, yet I'm not satisfied. I always feel so empty.

I scanned through the hallways. Everything seemed normal but that urge that there was more, kept pulling me.

I remembered what my father said, he had asked me to keep a close watch on all the students.

Last night's hunt made all of us suspicious. Perhaps, the werewolves were the hunters attacking in secret.

But it seems they were prepared, they'd set a trap. Which means that they had a spy in the royal palace.

Under the veil of darkness, our vampire clan gathered.

Blues, my father's right hand man, addressed us.

"Hunters have been slaughtering our kind. Tonight, we strike back."

We dispersed, scattering across the city.

We'd tracked the hunters to an abandoned warehouse.

Intel suggested the hunters' hideout.

We stalked through alleys, silent.

The warehouse loomed, its shadows treacherous.

Blues signaled.

We entered.

Inside, hunters waited.

Crossbows fired.

Vampires fell.

Blues clashed with the leader.

A hunter's blade sliced his thigh.

"No!" I shouted.

I rushed to Blue's side, while the others covered us.

"We must retreat!"

Blue's gaze locked onto mine.

"Finish this."

With a nod, I took charge.

The battle raged. But we couldn't do much to the hunters because it seems they had backups.

Unknown forces had pushed us back, maybe, they were using magic or they sought help from a witch.

Outnumbered, we fled.

Blue's wound worsened. They poisoned the blade used on him

"We failed," I growled.

Blue's smiled weakly

"Next time."

Back to the present:

I stood at the door, memories of the hunt still searing

I walked into the classroom, my gaze scanning the room, my eyes landed on a girl on my desk.

My anger boiled, one thing I hated most was sharing my things with others.

I walked closer to her and growled at her, her face paled, drained of color. She looked like she had seen a ghost.

But then, she looked me straight in the eyes, something no one has ever done.

My fury unexpectedly faltered.

Her scent, sweet and innocent, captivated me. I could feel her blood rushing through her veins.

"Shit! I would like to have a taste of her". For the first time in my boring existence, I felt drawn to someone.

I wanted to talk to her, but she rushed out the moment the class was over. I guess she was trying to avoid me.

I watched her from afar, fascinated.

Her beauty, her smile and her porcelain skin…

I wanted her.

I was still in my world of fantasy when I got interrupted.

"Vito, your presence is needed at the palace".

The royal messenger's voice shattered my reverie

In less than 10 minutes, I arrived at the palace. Seeing the entire vampire council

assembled, curiosity laced on my face.

Blues was also there, though still trying to recover.

"Vito, we've received an Intel". Blues began, that the werewolves are rising secretly, though their leader is still anonymous but they are getting help from the witches.

Gasps echoed through the room.

"It's only an alpha wolf that has the power to lead werewolves," someone said.

"So are you trying to say that we did not kill all the alphas during the war?" another person asked.

"Of course we did, we made sure we slaughtered all of them, there's no way any alpha would have survived".

"Then who is leading the werewolves?" My father finally speaks.

"Wait! What if he is Zed Marcus? I speak up, gaining everyone's attention.

I got into a deep thought, confusion evident on my face. " No, impossible. Zed can't be an alpha". He might act all tough, but there's nothing suspicious about him, I'm just jealous of him because he challenges me.

The council were watching me like a hawk, while exchanging bewildered glances.

"Explain", Blues demanded.

I shook my head.

"Sorry for making you all tense, but there's nothing suspicious about him, he's just a random guy in school".

I couldn't believe I was defending that bastard. Well, I have to because I will love to torture him before deciding his fate.

The king, seated at the far end, leaned forward.

"Tell me more about Zed Marcus".

I hesitated, because I knew my father when he gets interested in someone's life, he makes sure he knows every single detail about them.

"He has been in school since the first year but has been keeping a low profile. Unremarkable. Too harmless". I lied.

"Keep an eye on him". He said.

"We Continue our hunt tonight" Blues declared before dismissing everyone.
