First Impressions (1)

The first carriage door to open was actually that of the Romero family. Out of the carriage stepped three individuals, a man in a simple black suit, black boetie and white gloves who assisted a middle aged women with clear skin almost as white as snow. She wore an elegant black dress that hugged her curves, her long, straight black hair like strings of purest shadow drifting down to the small of her back and her feet graced by simple yet elegant black high heels. Her gray eyes peering coldly at the Loslers and their attendants but a cordial well practiced smile graced her lips.

To the woman's side stood a child of similar age as Jien, his skin ruddy, grey eyes as cold as his mother's and mid length, wavy dark brown hair gracing his head. The child wore a dark grey silk shirt covered by a black leather cuirass, black pants, black leather boots and bracers and a simple black cloak over his shoulders held by a clasp in the shape of a stretching cat.

The pair of mother and child, after alighting from their carriage, gracefully made their way toward the entrance of the manner to greet their hosts. Jien and Earl moved to meet them halfway, followed by one of the handmaidens. The woman smiled a bit more warmly upon seeing Jien, this being the first time seeing the boy. She took hold of the corner of her dress and gave a proper curtsy to the father and son pair before introducing herself in a light and melodic tone. "Greeting lords Losler, my name is Gloria Romero and this is my son Barret. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." To compliment his mother's actions Barret also gave a polite bow without speaking a word. After this introduction he and his mother were guided into the manor by the handmaiden that had come forward. The well dressed butler that had accompanied the pair had gathered a small trunk from the carriage and followed after.

It was not just Jien who would have to change outfits during the night for the three occasions. Each of the noble children would likewise have three outfits and the first would be the armor that they would be wearing when they would have their sparring session after each of the families had had the chance to rest for a short while. Each family would be lent a guest room to occupy throughout the event with a servant of the Losler household to assist them as requested.

The second family to step out from their carriage were the Griffith family. The first to leave the carriage was young girl who was rather tall for her age. She had rosy skin, rounded jaw and high cheekbones. Her eyes were a light chestnut brown and her hair was wavy and bright orange that reached her shoulders. She wore a wine red blouse covered by a steel chest plate that had been masterfully crafted but was stark in terms of added designs. Her skirt was a matching red to her blouse but had golden edging. Strapped to her back was a pole hammer with a broad head, the black having a long slender blade. Around the girl's neck was necklace in the shape of a golden coiled snake with slender spikes along its spine.

After the young woman came her mother and father, both rather imposing in height and build. They both wore fine clothes to match those of their daughter in reds and golds, though one could see the fabric of their suit and dress straining against their muscles. The trio was followed by a handmaiden and a butler as they made their way forward to introduce themselves.

The young girl was the first to make it to the Losler pair, all but running forward and taking Jien's hand in hers to give it a firm shake. "Hi, my name is Rosalind Griffith and these are my mother and father, Alexandra and Johnathan" she stated in a very cheery tone with a level of excitement that Jien didn't quite know how to react to. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, my name is Jien and this is my father Earl Losler." Jien responded, trying his best to not let his lips twitch at how energetic the young lady was.

It was Earl that saved Jien having seen that he was a bit uncomfortable. Though he wanted Jien to spread his wings he also wanted him to do it on his own initiative. He motioned for another of the servants of their manor to step forward before turning to the Griffith family. "They will help you to your guest room. If there is anything that you need please be sure to ask." As the Griffith family was being led to the manor they too gave short greetings to Jien that he returned in kind.

It was the Bell family who chose to introduce themselves next. Though the pair of adults were dressed well in vibrant greens they looked fairly average in a way that one would have trouble differentiating them from a crowd. They both had brown eyes and dark brown hair matching their son's. Compared to the adults their son stuck out more in his white shirt, steel breastplate with the design of a horse rearing up on its back legs added to its center and the long sword to his hip. His chin was round, face angular and eyes filled with a curiosity. He, unlike Rosalind, waited calmly for his parents to move before approaching the Loslers.

It was the father that took the lead for the introductions. Much like the others they focused on introducing themselves to Jien as the adults already knew each other. The very average looking noble stepped forward and gave a slight bow to Jien that his son mimicked. "Hello Jien, my name is Michael, this is my wife Amelia and my son Bernard. We hope that you will get along well with him and help each other while you attend the academy."

Jien responded to this with a smile and bow. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to working together with Bernard and learning along with him." This is all he got to say to the family before pair of raised voices interrupted the proceedings.
