Theo's journey brought him to Cerulean City, known for its sparkling rivers and powerful Water-type Pokémon. After his victory at the Pewter City Gym, Theo realized he needed to strengthen his team if he wanted to continue his journey. Walking along the Cerulean River, he marveled at its beauty and the trainers gathered there to practice with their Pokémon.

As he wandered, a sudden roar broke through the calm. The water churned violently, and with a tremendous splash, a wild Gyarados erupted from the river. Its massive form towered over the shore as it glared at the surrounding trainers. People screamed and ran, but Theo stood frozen in awe and fear.
"This is it," Theo muttered, clutching the KY Ball. "This could be the chance I've been waiting for."
Arceus stepped forward, its golden glow steady even in the face of the raging Gyarados. The creature roared again, sending waves crashing onto the shore. Theo swallowed his fear and called out, "Arceus, we're taking this one on!"
The battle began with Arceus launching its Judgment attack, a radiant beam of energy that struck Gyarados head-on. The serpent roared in pain but quickly retaliated with Hydro Pump, sending a powerful jet of water toward Arceus. The legendary Pokémon dodged gracefully, but Theo could see the battle wouldn't be easy.
Gyarados thrashed wildly, its tail sending shockwaves through the river. Theo focused, watching its movements carefully. "Arceus, use Agility to stay ahead of its attacks!" he shouted. Arceus moved swiftly, dodging another Hydro Pump and retaliating with a well-timed Hyper Beam.
The blast struck Gyarados hard, but the wild Pokémon refused to back down. It lunged at Arceus with a ferocious Bite, grazing the legendary Pokémon. Theo's heart raced as he called out another command. "Hang in there, Arceus! Use Judgment again!"
The energy attack hit Gyarados directly, and the serpent reeled back, clearly weakened. Theo knew this was his chance. He reached for an empty Pokéball and threw it with all his might. The ball struck Gyarados, enveloping it in a beam of red light before closing.
The Pokéball wobbled violently as Gyarados struggled to break free. Theo held his breath, his hands clenched in anticipation. Finally, the ball clicked, signaling the capture.
"We did it," Theo whispered in disbelief, then yelled, "We caught a Gyarados!" He rushed to pick up the ball, holding it tightly in his hand. Arceus watched silently, a faint look of approval in its eyes.
"That was impressive," Arceus said. "You are learning the value of timing and strategy."
Theo grinned. "Thanks, Arceus. I couldn't have done it without you."
Later, Theo released Gyarados from its ball to check on it. The giant Pokémon loomed over him, letting out a low growl. Theo took a step closer, his voice calm. "Hey, I know you're strong and proud. But I promise, I'll be a good trainer. Let's work together."
Gyarados stared at Theo, its fierce gaze softening slightly. It gave a low grunt, a sign of acceptance. Theo smiled, feeling a surge of pride.
Over the next few days, Theo trained with Gyarados, learning how to command its powerful Water-type moves like Aqua Tail and Dragon Rage. With Arceus's guidance, Theo began to understand the tactical advantages of Water Pokémon and how they could help him in future battles.
As Theo prepared to leave Cerulean City, he looked back at the river. The encounter with Gyarados had taught him the importance of perseverance and teamwork. With Arceus and Gyarados by his side, he felt more ready than ever for the challenges ahead.
"Let's go," Theo said, his voice filled with determination. Arceus and Gyarados followed him as he headed toward the next step of his journey, ready to face whatever awaited.
