Unlimited Potential System

Chapter 69: Aimed For It

The next day, Tyler got his first taste of what life was when his team was playing away. Everyone woke up early in the morning and moved towards the dining session of the hotel. The club had reserved the entire dining session for the morning so that they could effectively eat breakfast as a team and talk some tactics.

For the upteenth time, Adi Hutter read through the game plan that they were to use against Paris Saint Germain. During the week, he had also come up with a contingency plan that was to be used if the Plan A didn't work as well as they'd hope it did.

After revising the tactics, everyone was served breakfast and the they ate. After that they were pretty much left to their devices until they were called for a light training session. It was mostly just basic positioning and the rest.

The game against Paris Saint Germain was a night fixture so even after that there was still a lot of time left. The team had lunch and were playing around until it was two hours left before kickoff.

Adi Hutter and his assistants gathered everyone and marched them to the team bus, which then drove them towards the stadium.

As soon as they got within a hearing range of the crowd, Tyler understood what Adi Hutter meant when he talked about the Parc de Princes having a hostile atmosphere. All he could hear until they eventually got to the parking lot reserved for the players and staffs were the sound of the PSG ultras, cheering their team. And this was two hours before the game even began!

The entrance to the stadium was basically a sea of the blue and red in the Paris Saint Germain colors. Occasionally one would spot a Monaco fan wearing their trademark red and white or their away kit, but really, they were outnumbered a lot by the loyal Paris Saint Germain fans in the stadium.

Tyler couldn't get the sheer number of Paris Saint Germain supporters out of his head. The Parc de Princes was one of the largest stadiums being used in the Ligue 1. It was also bigger than Monaco's Stade Louis II, with the number of home fans expected to be in attendance larger than Monaco's home stadium capacity.

He took a few deep breaths to calm himself, he couldn't allow himself to look shaken, especially when he spent the whole week trying to convince Adi Hutter that he wouldn't be affected by the hostile environment in Paris. He calmed himself down, then followed his teammates out of the team bus and into the stadium where they found their way into the away team's dressing room.

Tyler was still a bit too shaken to take a good look around as they made their journey to the locker room, but once they got in the locker rom, he couldn't help but take a double glance at everything. It wasn't that much better than the one in Stade Louis II, it was just the moment that felt surreal for him. He had watched many matches take place inside of the Parc de Princes, but now he was actually there, inside the locker room, about to change for a match against one of the best teams in Europe.

The team changed into their pre match training wear and walked out onto the pitch to warm up and do some exercises. As soon as they stepped out, they were subjected to a torrents of boos and whistling from the greater majority of the home crowd. Tyler looked around and saw that the players on his team weren't affected by it so he swallowed any form of intimidation that he felt and walked over to the destination of the team.

Adi Hutter ran them through some positional training. It was nothing too complicated neither was it something that would give away the game plan, it was just as simple as nailing down the basics. After that, they had a free drill session. The forwards were testing their shots against the goalkeepers, the midfielders were doing rondos while the defenders were doing reaction training.

After they did the free training for a little while, the two sets of players reported back to their locker rooms to change for the game. Tyler walked over to the space allocated to him and used his hand to feel through the fabric of his jersey and a small smile appeared on his face. As much as he felt nervous about going up against PSG's super-team, he was also quite excited.

After all, he had spent countless hours running, sweating, working for this moment. Every bad training session, every day when he felt like quitting, every day when he felt like there was no hope, every single day, he aimed for it. He aimed to be there at that moment, and he was there.

While the players were changing into their jerseys, Adi Hutter came into the locker room. He had already announced the starting lineup for the match. As expected, Tyler wasn't on the starting lineup, but that didn't really affect him. He expected it, and that was what happened. What he wanted was to make sure that he played, and he was willing to do almost everything to guarantee it.

"Alright boys, this is it. We've spent the last week preparing for this. Making a plan A, a plan B and a plan C. We know what's at stake tonight and we know that despite being the underdogs we have to win. I can stand here talking about a lot of other things that we know but that doesn't matter, what we know doesn't matter. What matters is what we get out there and do". Adi Hutter started addressing his team, the crescendo of his voice increasing as he spoke. "We have to go out there and win! Not try to win, nobody ever remembers the guy who tries, people only ever remember the guy who wins and I don't know about you, but I want to be the guy that people remember so I need you to win. Not for yourselves but for the fans who drove nine to twelve hours without rest to come here and watch you play, for your family members at home rooting for you to win, not for me, but for the assistants who stayed up all night thinking of tactics and approaches to be made in this match, and for me, because quite frankly I'm fucking tired of losing to these guys man. Now, you guys will decide if you want to do it for yourselves, and if you do, then get out there and win that fucking match for me!".

Tyler didn't know how Adi Hutter did it. Before he started talking, Tyler felt a little nervous but accomplished because of where he was and who he was playing against. But at the end of Adi Hutter's speech, he was fired up, and it wasn't a pretense. He and George just finished giving each other a fired up dap and were currently screaming loudly.

A few minutes later, the players had calmed down, but they were still as fired up as before. At that point, they didn't think that they were underdogs going into the match, they genuinely believed that they could come away with something against the best team in the league.

Dennis Zakaria, being the captain also addressed the team to reinforce their mentality. After that, a match official came to knock on the locker room door to tell them that it was time for the match already.

They stepped out of the locker room and walked into the tunnel, seeing some of the PSG players already waiting for them. Once again, Tyler started to feel excited. He could see so many famous football legends that he heard about just a small distance away from him.

Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Ousmane Dembele, Fabian Ruiz, and many others. Names he'd only heard through the commentator's voice on the television and now they were virtually standing next to him.

Unfortunately for Tyler, he didn't get to stand next to them, he had to follow the rest of the substitutes out of the tunnel early and onto the bench.

As he was walking out of the tunnel, he could already hear the PSG fans chanting songs in support of their club. He couldn't translate everything but he could get the gist from most of it.

Once again, he started feeling a little nervous but he took a deep breath to control himself. He needed to learn how to control himself in atmospheres like this. He knew that this was his first big game, and it wouldn't be his last. He would find himself in hostile environment like this a lot and he needs to learn how to deal with them.

Like he thought earlier, he aimed for this, and he wasn't going to let it slip.
