Unlimited Potential System

The next day, Tyler woke up pretty early as usual. He would've gone on his regular routine and done a bit of light workout but the system let him off the hook and allowed him to rest. He just had his debut the day before, after all. What good was it to be physically fit if it costed an injury or two.

After resting for a little while, he went into the toilet and freshened up, pulling out some clothes, wearing them and then he went to the Monaco Performance center. Before he left, he didn't forget to take his nose mask and shades to avoid being recognized on the road.

'I have to get a car'. Tyler thought to himself as he walked the increasingly familiar route to Monaco's first team training ground.

As soon as he had that thought, he shook his head. Although he was earning quite a sum for Monaco, his salary was nowhere near enough for him to get a car without his finances feeling it. He started thinking about part payments and installment plans but he got to the training ground before he could arrive at a decision.

When he entered, he went straight to the locker room. As soon as he entered, a round of applause erupted from the boys inside. Akliouche went over to him and patted his back.

"There he is, the latest boy wonder". Akliouche said. "One goal and two assists in his debut, now that's something".

"Yeah". Zakaria said as he smiled and looked at Tyelr. "I'm glad you did well. Babying you if you had a stinker would've been really stressful".

Tyler smiled. "I wouldn't have needed babying". He said, walking over to his locker.

"I'm the captain". Zakaria said. "It's my job to baby you whether we want it or not".

"Fairs". Tyler shrugged and put on his training outfit.

He had a little bit more interaction with his teammates. Most of them congratulated him about his debut and his performance against Paris FC.

After that, they went onto the field and did some yoga and stretches before going to the indoor recovery area where they did a hydrotherapy recovery session and a bit of light workout. After that, they watched footage from the game, with Adi Hutter making corrections to their gameplay and pointing out mistakes that they made.

Tyler was happy because Adi Hutter almost didn't mention his name at all so that was his sign that he played quite well. After the game analysis session, Adi Hutter dismissed everyone and said they were free to go.

Tyler changed out of his training outfit and put on the clothes he wore when he first arrived at the training ground. As he was about to leave, Adrian stopped him and brought him to a corner in the dressing room.

"Congratulations on making your debut Tyler". Adrian said.

"Thanks". Tyler replied, then fell silent again, waiting for Adrian to start speaking again. He knew that Adrian didn't take him aside just to tell him congratulations.

"You know, watching you play was kind of special to me because of your hunger. The way you pulled me aside and forced me to take you on extra training sessions until you improved your finishing. You even developed a new skill right in front of me". Adrian said. "Now that you've made your debut, and had a really good one at that, I need you to make sure that you remain as hungry as you were before you kicked a football for us. Maybe even hungrier, because things don't get easier from here".

"After that performance you put on, the fans will expect you to remain on that level or even do something way better and you cannot afford to disappoint them because then all the cheers that you heard will turn to suffocating and brutal insults the moment that you don't play well enough for them. Normally, I'd say no pressure but you seem like someone who can handle it so there's lots of pressure". Adrian said.

Tyler stared blankly at Adrian after he finished speaking. He talked about remaining hungry. At that moment, he remembered the side quest that the system dished out the night before.

Tyler stared blankly at the notification for a few seconds. He wasn't even sure how to respond. The golden boy ranking wasn't some ordinary award, it basically ranked all of the wonderkids in the world. He wasn't just competing with his friends at Monaco or all the other young players in the league or even in the continent. It was him against everyone else in the world.

"What the actual fuck?" Tyler muttered under his breath. Although the system issued it as a side quest which meant that he technically didn't have to complete it, Tyler still wanted to do it. He was too competitive for him to see it and not try.

"One step at a time". Tyler muttered under his breath, finally calming himself down. "The first step is to get myself a starting spot at Monaco. If I can't even do that then I can forget about this golden boy of a thing".

"Tyler?" Adrian snapped his hand in front of Tyler a few times. He was starting to get worried. He was talking to Tyler and all of a sudden, Tyler just zoned out.

"Yeah, I'm here, sorry". Tyler said while rubbing his nose awkwardly. "I was thinking about what you said".

"Okay?"

"And you're right. I have to get hungrier, it won't get easier, but it's a big mistake you're making if you think I'm going to slack off and let all the noises get into my head after just one good game. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi stayed at the top for so long because of their consistency, hard work and mentality. I aim to do the same so don't worry about me slacking off". Tyler replied with a smile.

"It's good to hear that". Adrian smiled, then punched Tyler on the arm before walking off.

Tyler stared at Adrian's retreating figure for a little while before smiling and walking off in the opposite direction, back to the locker room so that he could get his stuff and get back to his apartment. When he got to the locker room, he found George and Tiago still waiting for him.

Naturally, they asked about what Adrian called him aside for. Tyler briefed them on it and then he went back to his apartment. When he got to the door, he realized that Tony and Enzo weren't in as the door to the apartment was locked shut. He used his key to open it and walked into his apartment, and beheld it, without the presence of his two roommates.

After debating on what to do for a while, he went over to where Tony and Enzo dropped their video game controllers, and picked it up. He turned on their console and found himself playing FC 25.

He played quite a few matches, as the game was admittedly quite addictive. A few minutes after he willed himself to drop the controller, Tony and Enzo walked through the door and started ranting to him.

Apparently, they were held up because of the classes that they had to take in addition to training with the under eighteens. It seemed that the teacher that taught them this particular day turned out to be strict and used a lot more time than he was assigned to.

Their story also made Tyler remember his classes and he realized that he hadn't spent any time with his private tutor in a little while. He groaned internally when he realized that he would not be able to avoid a class the next day.

After Tony and Enzo finished ranting and blatantly insulting the teacher that in their words 'wasted their time', they asked Tyler what he was up to. The pair continued talking and even put in some matches that were showing.

After watching a couple of matches with them, Tyler realized how late it was and retreated to his room. Tony and Enzo were still in the living room, watching the goal highlights of the match.

Before going to sleep, Tyler, as usual, texted with Jasmine and they talked for quite a while, asking each other about their day and what they had been up to so far. After that, he went and took another shower, put on his nightwear and lay on his bed.

His mind went back to the discussion that he had with Adrian earlier and he clenched his fists unconsciously. He know what he had gone through to be where he was. There was no way he wouldn't be hungry, not unless he was seen as tA/N:
