Chapter 5: End of the fifth grade.

Kei arrived two weeks later to present at the end of the school year. Fortunately for a bully like him, with minimal effort, he passed. He had already repeated fifth grade once. Since he arrived, his face was full of bruises, and his hands were bandaged. People preferred to stay away from him; his red hair was a little intimidating and his battered face.

-Kei, here's what you asked for a first grader he had saved from some bullies at lunch.

-Are you sure you don't need it? -Kei asked.

-Not at all, it's my second year, so there's no problem. Besides, it's literature, my sister has lots of books. -said Wei, his baby fat rounding him out, making him look very sweet.

-"Alright, thanks for the book, it'll be useful for my cousin. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call me." -said Kei, receiving the two literature books. After all, he needed to study more to improve his writing and didn't have time to go to the library or buy any books.

-Okay, I will. -said Wei, giving a slight bow before leaving.

-Take care, Wei, and be good to your parents. -said Kei, ruffling the boy's hair.

Kei Kazama set off for home, adjusting the bandages on his feet when Nijima arrived.

-My dear friend Kei. So good to see you. -said Nijima, his alien-like form dancing around Kei with some repulsion as they walked through the school hallways.

-What do you want? -Kei said.

-Well, I have the information you asked for. I tried to find the great masters you mentioned, but I only found some traces of that Akira Hongo. He disappeared some time ago. Similarly, James Shiba is said to have retired from the underground arena long ago and now wanders the world. However, I found two schools. One specializes in karate and is where fighter Akira Hongo, a centennial dan, came from. But it's in Nagano, which is useless because we're in Tokyo. But a great martial artist seems to be retired; they call him the Warlord Takemoto Hiyasuya. He's a martial artist of Chinese Kenpo and has his own style. -said Nijima.

The address is on the paper. The guy was a great mercenary. They say he founded his fighting style but hasn't had a single disciple under his rank. Now he's into gardening.

Nijima handed over the paper, and Kei nodded. It was an hour from his house, so if he could jog there, it would take two hours. He would take some money. Now that he was on vacation, it was perfect to use this time wisely.

-Perfect, I'll enroll in a public school. Can you handle the paperwork for me? I can defend you as long as you don't have many problems. -said Kei.

To which Nijima smiled with a macabre expression.

-Fine, I'll do the paperwork. I already have your phone number; I just need your father's consent. -said Nijima, his snake-like tongue flicking side to side, as his work had paid off.

-Take care, Nijima. I hope you don't get yourself killed early. -Kei said, leaving the school to start his thirty-minute barefoot jog with bandages. He had been doing this for two weeks, but he still panted heavily. He got home and ate rice with vegetables. Fortunately, rice is very cheap in Japan; you can buy two kilos for just a few yen.

Nijima watched him leave with slight fear, swallowing hard at the way Kei did everything, with his fierce gaze.

Kei was somewhat worried, irritable, and resentful.

Although his absent mother always covered their needs, they had brief conversations, but it seemed she had given up on her children. The loneliness that enveloped his mother was powerful, even the feeling of emptiness and sadness when he was with her was pervasive. But he increased his bowls of rice to two, enough to improve his food intake.

He set out to read the first-year literature book, doing as many exercises as he could.

-Kei, get out of the house, we have work. -said his brother Iji from the door.

-One moment, brother. -Kei said, packing his bag and leaving it on the table.

-It's best to put on my old clothes. -Kei thought.

-What's up, brother? What can I do for you? -Kei said, looking at Iji and Niji standing with a tough demeanor.

-The boss needs you, and since you're the new guy, you don't know what it means to report to the base, which is a hassle for all of us. -said Iji.

He grabbed an apple from a bag and pushed the rest into the corroded red chair.

-I didn't know they needed me, but let's not waste time, brothers. We need to get there before people get angry. -Kei said.

After all, this was his second mission for the Risei gang.

-Bakudo, a pleasure. We brought Kei to run the errands in the sewers. -Iji said. Niji just grunted in affirmation.

-Alright, we'll handle the errands. The boss has some important things to do, so let's take it easy and avoid drawing attention.-Bakudo said, nodding to the guy in the orange cap from yesterday. Kei hadn't gotten to know him much yet, just that he was in charge of driving and making deliveries.

-You know the drill, kid. We'll do the job the same way. -Bakudo said.

Just as he said, they did. Only this time, he had to go to two more locations. He delivered the backpack and left with the backpack. The first place was the sewer, the second the forest, the food shop. This time he wasn't beaten, he asked for a bowl of soup, left the backpack at his spot, took the bowl, paid for it, and they handed him the backpack at the door. The fourth place was another sewer, this time with bars, but he could squeeze through them. He followed the map they gave him until he came to a mansion. He rang the bell as instructed. An old man opened the door, extending his hand.

-The small backpack. -he said.

-Oh, right. -Kei said, taking off the backpack and handing it to the man.

He waited a long time, almost an hour or maybe two. They returned the backpack to him. -Handle it carefully. The glass is fragile. -the old man said.

Kei did his best to follow the instructions, returned to the car, and Bokuda nodded. Receiving the package, Bokuda just grunted slightly and dropped him off at his house. It was almost dawn, and Kei slept soundly. The next day, he would meet Takemoto Hiyasuya, the man Nijima found for him. He hoped, just hoped, that this person would teach him martial arts.
