Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 171: The Mad Leader of the Other Ghosts

Gu Xi was right; he really had been waiting a long time.

Ever since he learned a few things, Gu Xi had also started to anticipate the enemy's attack.

But what he didn't expect was that as the frontline and most critical point against the enemy, he didn't face any attacks in the following three hours.

Even other points were under attack, yet there was not a peep around Gu Xi.

Gu Xi worried it was some enemy plot; he couldn't send troops to other nodes to investigate, so he could only let the Stone Golem scouts fly farther and farther away.

But no matter how Gu Xi waited, the enemy never showed up.

Eventually, Gu Xi couldn't even focus on reading those Skill Books; he just twirled the Cold Wind Staff in place, occasionally glancing at the situation outside.

About fifteen kilometers away from Gu Xi, a group of Otherworldly Ghost Bosses wrapped in white baboon skins sat around.

In their midst was a clown wearing a white baboon skin.

This clown dared to alter the baboon skin, turning it into a formal suit, yet he painted and scribbled all over it.

This white baboon skin suit was stained red and green at spots.

But the clown didn't mind; he looked rather pleased, flipping his purple hair occasionally, resembling a madman.

His face was pale with large eyes at awkward angles, and his clown features weren't the usual red but a twisted green.

As his mouth stretched into a grin, it revealed sharp, shark-like teeth.

"Has that guy gone crazy yet? Why hasn't he gone mad, staying there with skeletons all around, why won't he lose it?"

The clown screamed loudly, and none of the surrounding Otherworldly Ghost Bosses dared to speak.

They knew that speaking at this moment would drive them mad alongside this clown.

They were Other Ghosts, not fools; they wouldn't offend a madman who could explode at any moment.

Sure enough, without a response, the frenzied clown gradually calmed down, then elegantly smoothed his hair back and said.

"Alright, everyone, no need to be so tense. I just want us to loosen up a little.

We've been waiting here for ages, and it's not comfortable, is it?

Smile a little, cheer up. We don't even know how long we'll be waiting.

Smile, why the long faces?"

The clown's voice suddenly rose, "You should laugh like me. If not, I'm going to lose my mind.

Why are we waiting here anyway, why can't we listen to my plan?

What use are scattered attacks? Why not just pierce through one point?

That guy is clearly a node.

The core location, and it's right in front of us.

You put such a huge piece of meat in front of a dog and don't let it eat; even the dog will go crazy.

How about this, big guy, why don't you sneak out for a strike?

I assure you, after you move, I'll tell the higher-ups I sent you, won't put you in a tough spot."

The clown said as he walked to an Otherworldly Ghost Boss.

A three-meter-tall Ghost with earth-yellow skin and muscles lined with spikes, wearing his white baboon skin as a hat.

Seeing the clown approach, he stepped back.

He knew what involvement with this clown led to.

The last Abomination similar in size had launched an early attack under the clown's provocation, and ended up without even retrieving its bones.

That Abomination traded its Life only for the clown to remain quiet for two hours before going mad again.

This time, the clown had set his sights on him, and this Otherworldly Ghost Boss didn't want to use his life to calm the clown.

"Oh, you don't want to? Not enough troops, no problem, I can prioritize some forces for you."

The clown stepped closer, eyes locked on the Ghost Boss's.

This Ghost Boss felt enveloped by a cold craziness, fearing a denial might flood his mind with insanity.

Under this pressure, his demeanor became chaotic, and finally, he shouted.

"Why don't you go yourself, if you go, we'll gladly follow."

Silence!

The air became still; all Ghost Bosses looked at the clown.

The clown grinned, releasing the sturdy Ghost Boss he grabbed.

"Hahaha, why didn't I think of that? I can go myself.

No, I should've thought of this, but someone stopped me. They just want me to guard this dump. They don't want me in action.

They just want me watched, to drive me insane here.

I can't stay here, I need to head out, I want to..."

The clown was interrupted as several Ghost Bosses subdued him, holding him down. One resembling a nurse injected him with a blue Potion.

The clown struggled a bit, then lay down asleep.

Only when he slept did the madness slowly dissipate.

Seeing the clown on the ground, other Ghost Bosses exchanged glances, unsure what to do.

"Maybe we should report this to replace him. I'm at my wit's end," a Ghost Boss suggested, raising a hand.

"Replace him? You think Leader Level bosses are like roadside cabbage? They're not that common.

If they were, do you think they'd have deployed this lunatic for such a critical task?

Let's just keep it as is, give him another injection, calm him down, and hopefully, he'll issue proper orders."

But can this clown really calm down?

Nobody knew, staring at the asleep clown, none could affirm he wouldn't lose it again.

The Ghost Bosses exchanged looks until one brightened in realization.

"Oh right, it's my assignment to lead the attack on the node ahead, this drags on, I should handle it, you guys take care of this."

Hearing this, all Ghost Bosses caught on.

"Wait, the enemy numbers there are vast, tricky to handle, I'm a mobile force, I can assist you..."

"I'll come along too; once we secure this node, our mission's half done."

"..."
