Chapter 241: Bad Temper

"If you don't want to die, open the door!"

The woman standing inside was stunned for a moment, then looked at the speaker, a young man in his twenties. She said with an unpleasant tone, "How are you talking? You little brat."

Xiaoshan chuckled; he hadn't expected this woman to have such a short fuse.

"I'm not joking with you, your body has been severely eroded by yin energy. Just now, you must have experienced hallucinations, which is why you were screaming," Xiaoshan said indifferently.

Song Yi's face changed, and after a while, she said, "How, how do you know that?"

"How I know is none of your concern; you just need to understand I'm someone who can save your life. You know about Old Master Bai's illness next door, right? I'm the one who saved him," Xiaoshan said with a hint of arrogance.

Song Yi was quite shocked; she lived next door to the Bai Family and was certainly aware of how serious Old Master Bai's illness had been.

There hadn't been any haunting in their home when Old Master Bai was ill.

Everyone thought for sure that Old Master Bai was done for, but unexpectedly, he came back to life. She looked at Bai Susu, who said, "He's right, my dad was saved by him."

After her expression wavered several times, Song Yi finally opened the door.

Bai Susu and the two others walked in.

The moment they entered, a chilling breeze blew over them, causing Bai Susu and Bai Xuehen to shiver; it was so cold.

The Song Family's house felt several degrees colder than outside, like walking from summer heat into a room blasting with strong air conditioning.

The house was desolate inside; it was clear it hadn't been tidied for a long time. The courtyard was overgrown with weeds, and the smell of incense lingered throughout.

Thick sticks of tribute incense were burning both inside and outside the house.

Xiaoshan, who had inherited the Black Scale Gate's legacy, knew that the Black Scale Gate specialized in dealings with ghosts, and that tribute incense is offered to gods and buddhas, but it can also be used to drive away ghosts; ordinary little ghosts would be scared off by the incense because ghosts fear the gods the most.

However, this could only intimidate ghosts with no spiritual power or confused spirits.

Encountering a ghost with even a slight amount of spiritual power, the incense would be useless.

Because of the burning incense and the fact it was night, the house seemed even more eerily cold. Xiaoshan walked around inside and outside the house with his hands behind his back. He went up to Song Yi and said, "Big sister, give me your hand."

"What do you want to do?" Song Yi asked, looking at him warily.

"To treat you, of course. You're quite grown up; are you still afraid I'll take advantage of you?" Xiaoshan remarked.

Song Yi's face turned red with anger; no woman likes to be told she's old.

Even though Xiaoshan was indeed much younger than her.

"You little pest!" Song Yi cursed inwardly but still extended her hand because she had let Xiaoshan in, believing in his ability to have cured Old Master Bai.

Xiaoshan grasped Song Yi's wrist.

Song Yi shivered; she could clearly feel a warm current flowing into her, and as it circulated within her body, the cold inside her began to dissipate and she felt much more comfortable.

If she had been skeptical before, she was now convinced Xiaoshan truly had real skills.

After about five minutes, Xiaoshan let go of her hand.

Song Yi was no longer feeling as uncomfortable and her complexion had improved significantly.

Curiously, she asked, "What did you just infuse into my body? Was it qigong?"

Xiaoshan pursed his lips.

Seeing Xiaoshan's dismissive reaction, Song Yi felt like stamping her feet in irritation, cursing that pesky little brat in her mind before forcing herself to calm down.

Bai Susu asked, "Xiaoshan, did you notice anything?"

"Hmm, there are some issues," Xiaoshan replied. "I will stay here tonight and extinguish the ghost."

"There really is a ghost?" Bai Xuehen asked in surprise. "But don't books say that there are no ghosts or gods in the world?"

"The national news broadcasting always says that the people across the country are living happily."

"Liar." Bai Xuehen gently kicked Long Xiaoshan.

"Are you really sure?" Song Yi said, "I've looked for many Taoists, but none were effective."

"You must have found a fake Taoist," Long Xiaoshan joked.

Song Yi twitched the corner of her mouth, initially wanting to laugh, but recalling her recent experiences, she couldn't muster a smile.

After standing for a while and seeing the sky getting darker, Long Xiaoshan spoke with a more serious tone, "Auntie Su, you and Xuehen should head back first, it's getting late."

"Okay," Bai Susu agreed.

Although Bai Xuehen was curious to see what kind of ghost it was, Bai Susu still pulled her away.

After Bai Susu and the others left, only Long Xiaoshan and Song Yi remained in the room. Continue reading on empire

"I'm going to wash my face first." Having been treated by Long Xiaoshan and feeling more clear-headed, Song Yi realized she was in a mess. Being so unkempt in front of an outsider was unacceptable for a woman.

She excused herself and quickly ran to her room.

Long Xiaoshan faintly heard the sound of water but didn't bother with Song Yi. Instead, he entered a room with many wooden shelves displaying a lot of antiques—not the fake kind, but real antiques.

Bai Susu had mentioned that the Song Family was in the antique business.

Just by looking at these antiques, one could tell that the Song Family was wealthy.

Long Xiaoshan's eyes landed on a corner of the room and lit up. He walked over to find something that resembled a Pill Furnace, shaped like a gourd but divided into three sections, with five feet, adorned with carved flowers, birds, and fish. On the top were two protruding spouts, and there was a hole underneath for ash removal.

"Pill Furnace!"

He had been searching for one, and unexpectedly, his effort had finally paid off.

Looking at the Pill Furnace, it was clearly very old, having a history of at least several hundred years.

Long Xiaoshan was inspecting it when he heard footsteps behind him.

He turned and saw a woman in pajamas entering the room. Seeing her, he paused and asked, "Are you Sister Song?"

"Don't call me sister; it sounds terrible," Song Yi frowned. However, seeing Long Xiaoshan's dumbfounded expression made her somewhat proud. She thought to herself, "You little devil, now you'll stop looking down on me."

"So what should I call you, aunty?"

"Go to hell," Song Yi responded, her voice thundering with annoyance.

Long Xiaoshan chuckled, but honestly, he hadn't expected that Song Yi, after a bath and a bit of dressing up, would be so beautiful.

She bore a resemblance to Sister Zhiling and didn't look anywhere near Auntie Su's age.

This aspect also resembled Sister Zhiling, because Sister Zhiling herself was no longer young.

Another thing, Song Yi had a composed demeanor, with her legs tightly closed, clearly still a virgin.

Nearing forty and still a virgin, no wonder she was so quick-tempered.

"What are you staring at, you little brat?" Song Yi asked with displeasure.

"At this," Long Xiaoshan patted the Pill Furnace beneath his feet.

"What's so good about that?" Although the object was large, it wasn't highly valued in the eyes of antique dealers because it wasn't finely crafted and it bore no signature.

"How about we make a deal, auntie? I'll drive away the ghost for you, and you give me this Pill Furnace."

"I told you, stop calling me auntie!" A sharp scream echoed through the house from Song Yi!
