Chapter 977: Seeking Vengeance
Freyja glared towards the three Norn sisters, who were the masters of fate within the Germanic Pantheon. After being thoroughly rejected by the target of her desires, the goddess was not only outraged, but on a warpath, seeking a way to get back at Berengar for his most heinous of sins.
Never before in her life had Freyja been rejected by a man. The gods of all pantheons would fight among themselves to get a chance at entering her pants. And yet, one minor emperor from the mortal plane had thoroughly disregarded her advances. It not only hurt Freyja's pride as a woman, but as a goddess of beauty as well. If she could not seduce a mortal man, then she was undeserving of her position.
In an attempt to seek vengeance for this humiliation, she had opted to learn more about her target. As a result, she decided to visit the various deities and supernatural being who had come into contact with the man to learn more about him, and especially his destiny.
Wyrd gazed at the redheaded beauty, who, as if in an act of defiance, stubbornly clung to Linde's form with a nervous expression on her cute face. No longer was the weaver of fate wearing Adela's adolescent appearance.
Instead, she wore the form of a teenage blonde-haired girl, with a petite and skinny figure. Her hair was tied into twintails like before, but instead of modelling them after Adela's appearance, they were curly, and mid-length, along with center parted bangs. Her arms, shoulders, and upper chest were covered in Norse tattoos the color of blood.
She appeared as an unnatural mixture of a naïve, and innocent teenage girl, while still having the mature stoic expression of one who had seen the weave of fate, and understood everything that had ever happened, and would eventually come to pass.
Naturally, she knew why a major player like the Goddess Freyja would be visiting her and her sisters. Thus, with a slight sigh of defeat, Wyrd was quick to give voice to her thoughts.
"You have come to inquire about Berengar, son of Sieghard. Am I correct in this assumption?"
A petty sneer appeared on Freyja's pretty face as she crossed her arms beneath her hefty bosom and pouted in silence. This response was enough for Wyrd to understand the truth of the matter. She was quick to give voice to her past dealings with the man, even if she knew it would bring him some trouble.
After all, though she herself had a bit of attraction to Berengar, she would rather not make an enemy out of Freyja.
"It is true that he once came here, where I spoke with him about matters of fate. He drank from Urðarbrunnr and saw that which destiny had in store for him. If you wish to do the same, then I can summon forth my well. However, not even you, as powerful as you are, can change the man's fate."
After saying this, Wyrd summoned forth her well, where she handed a ladle filled with the starry water over to the goddess Freyja. Without hesitation, the divine beauty drank down the contents of the well of fate. In doing so, she witnessed Berengar's destiny, from birth to death, in both lives. When she finally come to her senses, she shuddered in confusion as a simple question escaped her lips.
"How can this be possible?"
For the first time since meeting with Freyja, a slight smile emerged on Wyrd's lips as she taunted the goddess without fear.
"Now you see why Odin has chosen him... Do you still wish to get your vengeance now that you know the truth?"
The clenched fists that Freyja had arrived with suddenly loosened as her determination wavered upon learning the truth. After a heavy sigh, she shook her head, before a wicked grin appeared on the goddess's flawless face.
"No... Now that I know the truth, I won't harm the man. However, I suddenly have thought of a much more devious way of getting my revenge on him."
A look of concern appeared on Wyrd's face as she shook her head in silence. Just why did Berengar have to go and provoke a frightening entity like Freyja? However, now that the goddess had learned the truth, there was no turning back. Thus, Wyrd could only ask her to leave the world tree in peace.
"Now that you know, you are free to leave..."
Despite the rude tone in which Wyrd spoke to Freyja, the goddess did not take offense, and instead, with a glint of determination in her sky-blue eyes, she left the domain of the Norn sisters willingly and without incident. Only after she was gone did Wyrd manage to sigh in relief before uttering her thoughts aloud.
"I hope he is okay..."

Meanwhile, in the city of Kufstein, Berengar had just finished pleasing his wife Linde in a carnal act of passion. No matter how many years went by, he never got sick of embracing the redheaded vixen. Thus, after a long night together, the man finally fell asleep in her bosom.
When he entered the dream world, all was peaceful. However, in the distance, a storm was gathering, as a figure that he was all too familiar with stood in the sky above. Watching over her prey as if he were the greatest prize a huntress could ask for.
Just when Freyja was about to make a move, the figure of a one eye'd the old man stood before her. In doing so, sending a great sense of terror into the goddess's heart. She could hardly believe her eyes. Odin must have used up quite a bit of power to intercept her here in this mortal's dreams.
Just when she was about to protest his interference, the one eyed' man glared at her, which forced the goddess into submission.
"You dare make a move on my champion after I have already cast my judgement? Berengar was right about you. You are reckless and irresponsible. To use up so much of your power just to gain your vengeance on a mere mortal it is despicable! If you had given birth to his child, nothing but chaos would result from such a thing!"
Freyja gritted her teeth in rage. She had many questions about how Odin had even managed to interfere with this act of vengeance and was quick to ask about the details.
"Just who warned you of my plans?"
Odin narrowed his gaze and chuckled at Freyja's lack of deductive reasoning. He could only shake his head in disappointment as he criticized the goddess for her own stupidity.
"That little girl has quite the crush on this mortal man. The moment Wyrd realized your intentions, she warned me of your plans. To think that a sister of fate would be moved by jealousy to act against you. Yet you did not even realize this fact. Have you gone mad?"
Upon hearing this, Freyja felt a deep sense of betrayal and shame. The fact that Wyrd had moved against her was an unforgiveable sin, yet a predictable one. Still, she had not even concluded that the girl was responsible for this interference. Such a lack of thought embarrassed the goddess, who hung her head low, as if she were a young girl receiving a scolding from her father.
When Odin realized that the hostility had ceased in Freyja's eyes, he sighed before placing a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
"To think that a mere mortal possessed such inner strength to reject you. As bitter as you must be, even you must realize that this is simple proof that he is worthy of the price I have paid to bring him into this world.
The very survival of our pantheon relies upon this man, and the actions he will take in this world. The last thing we need is for him to get distracted. So, I am asking you to let go of this resentment you have towards him."
Freyja dwelled upon everything that had happened recently, and could only sigh in defeat. She never intended to harm the man after learning the truth from the well of the fate, but she had intended to get her revenge, by forcing herself upon Berengar during his dreams.
It would appear this was nothing more than the folly of a woman driven mad by rejection. Now that she could see the situation clearly, Freyja decided to let go of the resentment in her heart and follow Odin's advice. With a bitter smile on her face, the goddess nodded her head and accepted defeat.
"Never in a million years would I have thought that a mere mortal would reject me. You have no idea how wounded my pride was when I heard that bastard's rejection. However, for the good of us all, I will let this go, just this once. However, the next time he dares to offend me, I will have him on his knees begging me for forgiveness!"
A slight smirk appeared on Odin's face as he heard such foolish words escape from Freyja's lips. The woman was thousands of years old, and yet she had allowed a mere mortal to control her emotions to such a degree. It would be the most interesting bit of gossip to exist among the gods in the last few centuries if word about this whole ordeal ever got out.
Ultimately, the All-father was pressed for time, as his power was waning with every second his projection existed within this dream world and thus he urged Freyja to depart with him.
"The time has come. We must leave this dreamscape, or our powers will wilt beyond imagine. Luckily, the days of such frailty are coming to an end. We can only place our hopes in this mortal for such a reality to arrive."
With a slight nod of her head, Freyja's divine figure left the dream world, Odin vanished shortly thereafter. Leaving Berengar all alone within his subconscious. Though the deities had tried to hide their presence, their powers were lacking due to a multitude of factors, and because of this, Berengar had witnessed everything that occurred between Odin and Freyja.
A slight grin curved itself upon Berengar's lips, as he sighed in relief, knowing that the feud between him and Freyja had been fully settled. The moment she entered his dream, an intense sense of anxiety sparked itself along his spine. Such a horrific experience only ended when the woman had given up on her hatred and left on her own accord.
If there was one thing this experience had taught Berengar, it was that he should be mindful of his words around such powerful beings. Though he felt he had been nothing but professional with Freyja, the woman's fury was not something he, a mere mortal, could contend with, even if the gods were in a severely weakened state at the moment.
Thus, going forward, he would be nothing but cautious around any supernatural beings he encountered in this world.
