Chapter 33: 33

Play God

Chapter Text

Juny leaned back, looking at the documents placed before her.

But her mind was occupied by something else.

"So, is there a limit to how many Elementals I can Attach to myself?"

'Well... I'm Not Sure?'

The black Elemental with starry glow hovered over the table, thinking.

'i, don't, think, so. but, there, has, to, be, some, limit, no?'

The Door Elemental with cyan glow spoke, turning towards the Void Elemental.

'How Should I Know? I'm An Elemental Too. I Can't Use Elemental Attachment.'

The frozen Elemental with a pink hue moved in.

'𝔹𝕦𝕥 𝕚𝕤𝕟'𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕍𝕠𝕚𝕕 ℙ𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕨𝕒𝕪 𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕒 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕖?'

The Void Elemental looked at the Demoness Elemental, its light dimmed.

'Yes, But As I Said Like A Second Ago, I Can't Know Something I've Never Done.'

'𝚁𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝, 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚅𝚘𝚒𝚍 𝚋𝚎. 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙳𝚎𝚖𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝙿𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚎𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛.'

The brownish-bronze Elemental from the Paragon Pathway moved before the Demoness Elemental, his voice deep.

Juny waved her hand.

"Forget it, I can just try it then."

'A r e y o u s u r e y o u w a n t t o r i s k i t?'

Juny looked at the Sun Elemental and nodded.

"We're in my Pocket Dimension anyway. It's not like- hum?"

Juny cut herself off, her attention shifting to one of the seats around the round table.

It was Darmine's seat.

The galaxy-styled chair was pulsing and giving off a white glow.

Before she could say anything, a crispy voice of the Abyss Elemental filled her ears.

'AhA! LoOkS lIkE i WaS rIgHt, KiDdO.'

"It sure seems like it."

Juny mumbled, getting up from her seat.

'Î̬f̬̂ î̬t̬̂ r̬̂ê̬â̬l̬̂l̬̂ŷ̬ î̬ŝ̬ â̬ D̬̂ê̬m̬̂ô̬n̬̂'ŝ̬ Ê̬v̬̂î̬l̬̂ Ŝ̬p̬̂î̬r̬̂î̬t̬̂, ŷ̬ô̬û̬ m̬̂â̬ŷ̬ ŵ̬â̬n̬̂t̬̂ m̬̂ŷ̬ ĥ̬ê̬l̬̂p̬̂.'

Juny looked at the bright green Mother Pathway's Elemental.

Before she could reply, the Sun Elemental chimed in.

'O h, t h e n I m i g h t b e u s e f u l t o y o u a s w e l l.'

Juny's gaze shifted between the two before nodding.

"I'd appreciate that, but won't you be torn apart if you exit the Pocket Dimension?"

A white Elemental with a blue hue shook, as if shaking its head.

'𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒹𝑜𝓃'𝓉 𝒽𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓇𝓎. 𝒜𝓈 𝓁𝑜𝓃𝑔 𝒶𝓈 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒹𝑜𝓃'𝓉 𝓁𝑒𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒜𝓉𝓉𝒶𝒸𝒽𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝑅𝓊𝓃𝑒𝓈 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓎 𝒾𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝑜𝒻 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒷𝑜𝒹𝓎, 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝓃𝑜 𝒸𝑜𝓃𝓈𝑒𝓆𝓊𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒𝓈.'

Hearing the White Tower Elemental, Juny didn't question it.

She instead removed her coat, throwing it into a new and different Pocket Dimension.

Since she could create and use multiple Pocket Dimensions, Juny decided to use one as a simple storage which would be usable inside of her main Pocket Dimension.

Seeing her bare hands, which were paler than a corpse's, the Red Priest Elemental asked.

'Kid, there's no way your skin has never met the sun, how are they so white?'

Juny looked at him and shrugged.

"I mean, I don't get hot, why should I take it off?"

'Is that so..? Never mind then.'

Since the Red Priest Elemental didn't have more to say, Juny turned to the Sun Elemental.

"Is the back of my hand good?"

The Sun Elemental moved closer, almost touching Juny's skin.

'Y e s, b u t i t m i g h t b u r n a b i t.'

Juny nodded.

"I'm prepared for that much."

Just as she said that, the Sun Elemental's light brightened and spread, enveloping her arm.

Juny's hand burned, it felt like a hot metal was poking and drawing into her skin.

The corner of Juny's lips twitched, but that was all.

Soon, the light disappeared, leaving a glowing tattoo-like Runes on the back of Juny's hand.

Juny still felt as if her flesh was melting, but it was manageable.

She hummed, clenching and unclenching her hand.

'It hurt more than I expected.'

After a moment of strange silence, Juny looked around.

She saw the glowing Elementals frozen in place, presumably watching her quietly.

Juny tilted her head.

"That's creepy, you know?"

The lights shifted, looking at each other.

One of them, the Twilight Giant Elemental with dawn-like glow, spoke.

'Tͭhͪaͣtͭ's̾ n̾oͦtͭ rͬiͥg̾hͪtͭ?'

The fiery Red Priest Elemental nodded along.

'Right? Last time Sun tried to attach herself, the guy collapsed to the ground, crying his eyes out...'

Juny flinched at the, quite frankly alarming, words.

'Maybe-it's-because-she's-in-her-Pocket-Dimension?'

The Fool Pathway's Elemental asked, his voice uncertain.

But the Void Elemental immediately retorted.

'No Way! That's Not How This Works. She Can't Just Not Feel Pain Because She's In Her Pocket Dimension. There's No Rule Like That.'

The Demoness Elemental moved closer to Juny.

'𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟', 𝕕𝕚𝕕 𝕚𝕥 𝕙𝕦𝕣𝕥? 𝔻𝕚𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕖𝕖𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕒𝕚𝕟 𝕠𝕗 𝕒𝕟 𝔼𝕝𝕖𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕝'𝕤 𝔸𝕥𝕥𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥?'

Juny stepped away from the sinister Elemental.

"I mean, it hurt? It felt like someone was poking into my meat with pure fire. But I've dealt with worse- Well, I could handle the pain."

The Elementals went quiet again.

After a moment, the Error Elemental whispered in a lower voice.

'[She][is][11],[right?]'

'Forget the age! Am I the only one who thinks that's not right?'

'OF COURSE IT'S NOT RIGHT! SHE SHOULD BE CRYING, BUT THE CHILD DIDN'T EVEN FLINCH!'

Juny frowned.

"Excuse me?"

Seeing the Elementals stop speaking and turn to her, Juny continued.

"If you knew it would hurt so much, why didn't you warn me?"

'...'

'...'

Juny's eyes narrowed.

"Hello?"

'Child, Aren't You In A Hurry? Your Friend Is In Trouble!'

Juny blinked before massaging the bridge of her nose.

"Okay, let's change the subject. Why not."

She then looked at the purely green Mother Elemental.

Part of her really wanted to make a sarcastic remark, but she decided against it.

Instead, she reached out her other hand without a word.

The Mother Elemental moved over much more hesitantly than the Sun Elemental.

"Don't do that, it's better if I don't know how it's going to hurt."

The Mother Elemental flinched before sighing.

'Î̬f̬̂ t̬̂ĥ̬â̬t̬̂'ŝ̬ ŵ̬ĥ̬â̬t̬̂ ŷ̬ô̬û̬ ŵ̬â̬n̬̂t̬̂...'

Instead of bright light, like with the Sun Elemental, many green vines emerged from the Mother Elemental and surrounded Juny's hand.

Juny's eyes narrowed as the vines dug into her skin and tightened around her wrist.

Her skin opened, but no blood seeped out.

The vines instead dug deeper in and blended into her skin and muscles.

Juny's fingertips twitched, but that was all.

After the feeling of being crushed receded, Juny clenched and unclenched her hand like last time.

'That was more uncomfortable than painful.'

Juny sighed and ignored the hushed whispers between the other Elementals.

She walked over to the pulsing chair and placed her finger onto it.

Her finger moved, drawing a Runic symbol for Find Enchantment.

Juny closed her eyes as a scene flashed in her mind.

It was a scene of a complete wasteland filled with debris and collapsed buildings.

In the middle stood a creature, a monster in a human's body.

Juny's eyes winced open and she frowned.

Her expression showed both concern and confusion.

What she just saw was a view of the decoration on Darmine's collar.

It was a present time vision, meaning that what she saw was currently happening.

Juny's eye twitched.

"Why is she confronting it? Why didn't she inform me immediately? There's no way Darmine would miss the signs of an Evil Spirit..."

Juny mumbled under her breath before turning around.

She instinctively knew where Darmine was, but she was never there herself and she didn't have direct coordinates.

Also, what she saw can't be used for Space Transportation.

Juny sighed before opening up a dimensional door.

She heard a voice in her head.

'I s i t b a d?'

Juny nodded her head as she stepped through the portal.

The closest she could go to was still a few minutes of flight away.

Her thoughts traveled through Self Telepathy, letting the two Attached Elementals hear her.

'It is urgent, more urgent than it should be.'L̬̂ô̬ô̬k̬̂ŝ̬ l̬̂î̬k̬̂ê̬ ŵ̬ê̬ ŝ̬ĥ̬ô̬û̬l̬̂d̬̂ ĥ̬û̬r̬̂r̬̂ŷ̬ û̬p̬̂ t̬̂ĥ̬ê̬n̬̂.'

...

"Ha! You're not so bad for a lowly creature."

Darmine head throbbed at the screeching voice.

She used her paws, pushing herself back to her feet.

If it wasn't for the Dragon Scales on her skin, the impact would've killed her.

Darmine's mouth opened, bleeding as a sharp tooth fell out.

She didn't mind the pain, she could still keep her head straight.

It's been only few minutes, but one of them was already unconscious.

Darmine began to doubt whether she would be able to last 10 minutes.

She also couldn't be sure if Juny wouldn't take longer than that.

Asking someone to travel half of the world in 10 minutes could be classified as being delusional, but Darmine didn't have any other choice.

If she had to be delusional to be able to fight against the Evil Spirit, then she would lie to herself with ease.

The problem was, most of her abilities as a Hypnotist were useless against the Evil Spirit.

Beyonders from the Abyss Pathway are cold and very guarded, invading their spirit body is simply impossible without backlash.

And Darmine would not be able to handle the aftereffects.

Even now, her Dragon Scales were already cracked.

Darmine was unsure how many more strikes she could endure.

The older official Beyonder was already out of the picture, he got blown away and crashed into a house which later crumbled.

He hasn't exited the collapsed walls since, so if he's not death, he's unconscious.

And the younger and stranger one wasn't of much help.

His body was trembling as he kept attempting rituals and Spirit Summoning.

But what sane spirit would come to fight an Evil Spirit?

Especially since all of his close ones were already forced to retreat.

The monstrous figure stood leisurely in the middle of this mess, sneering.

"Although your courage is admirable, you're still just a lowly existence, it is quite hilarious."

His every word dug into Darmine's ears, forcing her ears to stick close to her head.

The Evil Spirit's body was snapped in all wrong directions and its face was twisted in inhumane ways.

But Darmine was calm, her voice stable.

"I've told you before, I do not need courage, just time."

Darmine didn't mind entertaining the Evil Spirit's want for a conversation.

After all, she was trying to stall, not fight.

She stood up, her paws still numb from the last hit.

The Evil Spirits snorted, but his inner emotions were more than calm, he was cold.

It was all for his entertainment.

"Time? Do you truly believe you have any time left?"

As he spoke, Darmine's mind seemed to pulse, her vision growing blurry.

She could see double and hear intense ravings, but her emotions were still stable.

"I'm not dead, which means I have time."

The words were basically forced out through her throat, making them raspy.

The Evil Spirit stopped not too far from her.

"Oh? What an intriguing way of thinking. Tell me, wouldn't you like to try dying and join me? I'm sure someone with your resolve would become a conscious spirit even without being at a Demigod's level."

Darmine flinched, her small and tired eyes narrowed.

As much as she wanted to play along, there was a certain line she refused to cross.

Her pupils constricted, coldness returning to her tone.

"I've already got someone I follow. And she's a lot scarier than you."

The Evil Spirit's eyes darkened, his smile also disappeared.

"How unfortunate, I thought you at least had some brain when your strength is below average. Turns out you're really just a stupid lesser being."

The air immediately turned dry, making Darmine find it hard to breathe.

She braced for the impact, determined to survive this one too.

His clawed hand rose, voice creating a sickening hiss.

"Boring."

But before his attack could take place, the atmosphere changed.

A crackling noise sounded as the intense aura of death dimmed and dispersed.

The Evil Spirit found his hand frozen in the air.

His strangely crunched lips twitched.

"What's this?"

Seeing the slight flickers of Violet-black flame around the Evil Spirit's arm, Darmine's eyes immediately filled with relief.

She allowed her body to slump down on the ground as the cracked Dragon Scales receded.

Her relieved voice rang out, catching the attention of the younger official Beyonder.

"She's here..."

As the words fell, the dry air vibrated before restoring its clear vitality.

With swish, the dust lifted off the ground.

From the cloudy sky, a shadowy and shifting figure descended, seemingly unbothered by the Evil Spirit's presence.

Juny's feet lightly touched the dried up earth beneath her.

"Hm, you've wasted way too much time on someone who wouldn't fall. No wonder you were killed in such a secluded village."

The Evil Spirit's snarled, forcefully breaking his arm free from the invisible hold.

"You think you can stop me? Don't tell me you're the reason that lowly creature was trying to stall, how disappointing."

Juny tilted her head.

'Lowly being? Is it talking like that because Darmine is a cat?'

'I w o u l d n' t b e t o n t h a t. I t m i g h t m e a n o t h e r l i v i n g t h i n g s i n g e n e r a l.'

Juny inwardly nodded, pushing the question to the back of her mind.

Juny's expression remained calm.

Her sharp eyes stared at the monstrous figure before her.

'Do you think we can save the vessel?'

'Î̬ d̬̂ô̬n̬̂'t̬̂ t̬̂ĥ̬î̬n̬̂k̬̂ ŝ̬ô̬. Ĥ̬î̬ŝ̬ b̬̂ô̬d̬̂ŷ̬ â̬n̬̂d̬̂ m̬̂î̬n̬̂d̬̂ â̬r̬̂ê̬ b̬̂r̬̂ô̬k̬̂ê̬n̬̂, î̬t̬̂ ŵ̬ô̬û̬l̬̂d̬̂ b̬̂ê̬ ĉ̬l̬̂ô̬ŝ̬ê̬ t̬̂ô̬ î̬m̬̂p̬̂ô̬ŝ̬ŝ̬î̬b̬̂l̬̂ê̬.'

'I see, then let's end this without regrets.'

'T h a t i s t h e b e s t c h o i c e.'

Having finished her inner turmoil, the atmosphere around her changed.

It was dominating, but also a strange mixture of light and life.

It was exactly what a Demon from the Abyss Pathway would despise.

The Evil Spirit's aura roared in a hazed frenzy.

It was almost like it was trying to suppress the overwhelming feeling of force in the surroundings.

But his charge was swiftly stopped, maybe even too swiftly.

The previously dead dirt moved and flashed with color.

From within, bright green vines and roots surged up.

Along with them, the darkened sky parted, giving way for a holy light to descend.

While this formidable spectacle was taking place, the Evil Spirit's movement came to a halt.

Its limbs felt like they were being squeezed from all directions, not allowing any room for motion.

Juny watched as the vessel was pierced with vines and holy light.

Her expression remained still as the terrifying screech rang out.

Juyn could feel the immense flow and shifting in the nature's spirituality.

She didn't really have to question whether the job was done.

As soon as the light ceased, a gentle plop came from where the Evil Spirit stood.

There, a charred and pierced corpse laid in the fresh grass.

Juny's face stayed calm, as if she had expected it.

But her mind was quite different.

'Okay, I suppose it's my bad for not asking before, but just how, uh... strong? Are you?'

'W e l l, I s u p p o s e w e c o u l d b e c o m p a r e d t o t h e s t r e n g h t o f a n A n g e l? I t' s h a r d t o m a k e a c o m p a r i s o n. W e a r e j u s t E l e m e n t a l s, a f t e r a l l. W e c a n n o t d o a n y t h i n g w i t h o u t a v e s s e l.'

'Is that so..?'

'Mhm... isn't that something I should be aware of beforehand? So I can hold back?'

'Ĉ̬ĥ̬î̬l̬̂d̬̂, î̬t̬̂'ŝ̬ n̬̂ô̬t̬̂ ô̬û̬r̬̂ f̬̂â̬û̬l̬̂t̬̂ t̬̂ĥ̬â̬t̬̂ ŷ̬ô̬û̬ ĉ̬â̬n̬̂'t̬̂ ĉ̬ô̬n̬̂t̬̂r̬̂ô̬l̬̂ ŷ̬ô̬û̬r̬̂ p̬̂ô̬ŵ̬ê̬r̬̂.'

Juny went quiet.

The Elementals weren't wrong, Juny did underestimate them and overestimated the enemy.

She held back a sigh and looked back.

She scanned the destroyed surroundings and the hurt Darmine.

Juny suddenly felt the urge to question Darmine's decision making skills.

But seeing the current situation, she decided against it.

Her eyes instead moved to the startled official Beyonder, which sat by the side.

He was staring at her in both fear and relief, a confusing mix.

Juny felt her Spiritual Intuition kick in as she turned to a nearby collapsed building.

With a simple wave of her hand, the cracked debris lifted and moved away while covered in Violet-black flames.

With all the complications out of the way, an older man covered in blood crawled out of the wreckage.

His arm was shaking as he held onto a wall for support.

His eyes moved from Juny to the charred corpse on the ground.

Juny saw his eyes waver, a nudge of hesitation in his gaze, but not for long.

The older man soon composed himself, tapping out a symbol of a crescent moon onto his left chest.

Juny's eyes narrowed.

She noticed the red gloves which she's seen on the younger official before.

'Red Gloves from the Nighthawks, Church of the Evernight Goddess.'

Juny quickly came to a conclusion before nodding.

"There was nothing I could've done. He was dead."

The older man opened his eyes, looking back at Juny's ever-changing figure.

He nodded, his voice surprisingly calm.

"I know, I didn't expect him to survive. It is a blessing that his body could be recovered, even if not fully."

Juny hummed at the word 'fully'.

She looked back to the corpse.

Without any motions, a brightly lit Rune for 'Recovery' appeared in the air.

It shone with Violet hue, the light spreading out.

As the light reached her, Darmine could feel her power recovering.

Even her inner injuries and the fallen tooth healed.

The same happened to the two Red Gloves.

The older one's body stopped shaking and the younger found that his broken leg was fixed.

The glow then moved to the dead body.

Its burned features began to merge together and the stabbed parts regenerated.

Along with the wounds, the cracked and prolonged bones moved back to their place.

Lastly, his facial features squirmed before returning to normal.

He had a peaceful expression, as if he was simply asleep.

The older Red Glove stared in pure astonishment.

He blinked a couple of times, not being able to fully comprehend the situation.

Finally, he turned to the mysterious and shadowy figure.

While this was happening, Juny felt something melting inside of her.

It was the digestion of her Battle Elementalist Potion taking place.

She has experienced it many times, but it always made her feel comfortable.

With a light sigh, Juny turned away.

Her gaze moved to the short-furred black cat.

"Scout Patrol Leader, what is the meaning of this?"

The pitch of her tone was shifting with each syllable.

Darmine flinched, her tail practically glued to the ground.

"My apologies, Scoutmaster. I misjudged the situation and..."

Juny's eyes narrowed, but it was masked by the twisting shadows.

She scanned the surroundings before inwardly letting out a groan.

'What a mess this is.'

"Never mind, we can discuss this later. For now, how are the villagers? I believe there is corruption in their minds which has to be cleared."

Darmine quickly nodded.

"Yes, the members of my Patrol have already evacuated as many villages as possible. I suppose they're by the edge of the forest. But... that is not all."

Juny's eyes narrowed before coming to an understanding.

With so much death connected to this place, there mush've been many who weren't lucky enough to get away with just corruption.

And there was only one place where dead bodies would gather if not in a graveyard.

"I'll clear the alleys later. You should get some rest. Let the Red Gloves stay with you for now. There's no need for hostility."

The two Red Gloves, who were easily discovered, flinched.

But Darmine nodded without question.

"Understood, Scoutmaster."

Although this was the time to salute, Darmine was a cat, thus she couldn't do so.

Juny didn't say any more than this as she turned around.

Walking away, Juny looked around at the ruined houses.

With a sight, she slowly spread out her spirituality and covered the destroyed buildings.

When this part was done, she gently lifted her hand.

The tattoo-like Runes around her arm shone with bright green.

At the same time, large Runic symbols appeared above every collapsed house.

The atmosphere shook, filled with rumbling sounds and cracking.

Many large stones and broken logs moved at the same time.

The broken pieces shifted and connected to the rest.

The dried up wood returned to being sturdy and filled with vitality.

Almost like it was just cut.

Along the way, Juny's Spiritual Intuition could sense the strong scent of death.

Every time she felt that way, a body emerged from an ally, covered in thin layer of Violet flames.

Juny gently placed the recovered bodies down at the village's square.

Thankfully, all dead bodies could Recover to the way they looked before death.

This was because there was no time limit after becoming a Saint.

'Gods... this is tough."

In the end, Juny couldn't help but complain.

Looking down at the dead villagers of all ages, Juny lightly bowed.

But she didn't stay long.

Turning away, Juny slowly made her way to the edge of the village.

The place was just as much of a mess as the village itself.

The villagers, having been under the influence of a Demon's Evil Spirit for way too long, have lost all control over their emotions.

Many were crying, screaming or shaking in fear.

There was about 400 villagers, which is not a lot, but it's not small amount either.

'T h i s i s t e r r i b l e.'

'Ŷ̬ô̬û̬'r̬̂ê̬ r̬̂î̬ĝ̬ĥ̬t̬̂. Ŵ̬ê̬- Ŵ̬ê̬'v̬̂ê̬ b̬̂ê̬ê̬n̬̂ ĝ̬ô̬n̬̂ê̬ f̬̂ô̬r̬̂ f̬̂â̬r̬̂ t̬̂ô̬ô̬ l̬̂ô̬n̬̂ĝ̬.'

Ŷ̬ô̬û̬'r̬̂ê̬ r̬̂î̬ĝ̬ĥ̬t̬̂. Ŵ̬ê̬- Ŵ̬ê̬'v̬̂ê̬ b̬̂ê̬ê̬n̬̂ ĝ̬ô̬n̬̂ê̬ f̬̂ô̬r̬̂ f̬̂â̬r̬̂ t̬̂ô̬ô̬ l̬̂ô̬n̬̂ĝ̬.'

Juny didn't chime into the Elemental's silent conversation.

Her eyes slowly scanned the wide place.

She could see Hader and Muiry trying to calm the situation, but it was impossible.

The right hand, the one with sun-like Runes, clenched into a fist.

With this simple move, a gentle, holy light spread out.

It enveloped the people with Juny as the middle,

Along with the pleasant light, the villagers emotions slowly calmed.

Soon, they all turned to the source of this warm feeling.

Having been placed at the end of many stares, Juny's spirituality spread once more.

This time, it was not to create Runes, but to use Mind Space Manipulation.

Many concerned and confused thoughts rang through her head, but Juny tuned them out.

Through the connection she created by Invading their mind, Juny felt the intense corruption caused by the Evil Spirit.

It was like standing on a bloody battlefield, surrounded by painful screams.

It was cruel.

A change like this couldn't be forced in a matter of days.

It was a large amount of depravity which spread out throughly across many weeks.

Juny inwardly sighed, her image shifting.

The shadows twisted, turning into a 2 meter tall figure.

Her hair stayed long to match her new height and three pairs of dark, galaxy-styled wings grew out from her back.

The darkness which used to change her appearance twisted and turned into a star-filled, simple gown.

'W h a t a r e y o u d o i n g . . . ?'

Juny didn't immediately answer, making sure to keep her new appearance steady.

She clasped her beautifully pale hands together, her eyes filled with serenity.

Her rosy lips parted, speaking with a tranquil tone.

"Worry not, the danger has passed. You shall not by pained by evil no more."

'T h a t' s s o n o t r i g h t...'

'Â̬r̬̂ê̬ ŷ̬ô̬û̬ ĥ̬û̬r̬̂t̬̂? D̬̂î̬d̬̂ ŷ̬ô̬û̬ ô̬v̬̂ê̬r̬̂û̬ŝ̬ê̬ ŷ̬ô̬û̬r̬̂ ŝ̬p̬̂î̬r̬̂î̬t̬̂û̬â̬l̬̂î̬t̬̂ŷ̬!?'

Juny's eye twitched at the comments, but her voice continued to spread.

Her every word carried purity, like vessel to get rid of everyone's corrosion.

"The Princess of the Universe has given you 'Her' blessings. Go, take care of your family's deceased. Don't allow the dread to take root in your hearts."

'Î̬- Î̬ŝ̬ î̬t̬̂ t̬̂ĥ̬ê̬ Â̬t̬̂t̬̂â̬ĉ̬ĥ̬m̬̂ê̬n̬̂t̬̂? Î̬ŝ̬ î̬t̬̂ b̬̂ê̬ĉ̬â̬û̬ŝ̬ê̬ ŝ̬ĥ̬ê̬ û̬ŝ̬ê̬d̬̂ t̬̂ô̬ô̬ m̬̂û̬ĉ̬ĥ̬ ô̬f̬̂ ô̬û̬r̬̂ p̬̂ô̬ŵ̬ê̬r̬̂!?'

'T h i s i s b a d. H o w d o w e e x p l a i n t h i s t o t h e o t h e r s? D i d w e b r e a k h e r?'

'Be quiet! Do you know how hard getting rid of corruption is?!'

Juny's was not enjoying this.

But for her to successfully clear the corruption, she needed to invoke positive emotions.

Then, she needed to multiply them while simultaneously getting rid of the bad influences.

Which was quite a hard feat in itself.

But the difficulty only rose as she had to do so with 400 people at once.

The only thing she could think of was to invoke relief.

And the best way to do that was to invoke faith and use holiness as a tool.

She could always just change their memories later.

Aeron, the only one currently present who knew about who Juny was and what she looked like, was speechless.

Juny swallowed back her shame.

Although, in truth, she inwardly wanted nothing but to curse out loud.

Seeing that the corruption was being successfully eradicated, Juny was getting ready to end her little acting career.

But, unfortunately for her, she was forced to pause.

An old man shakily stepped forward, his back hunched.

It was the old owner of the Inn.

Juny wanted to dismiss him, but she couldn't.

There were trails of tears staining his cheeks, his breathing haggard.

He looked up at the tall Juny, his eyes hazed.

His speech was slow, but no longer as dragged out as before.

"Who are you..? What happened to us..?"

Juny clenched her hands together tighter, feeling uncomfortable.

'Do you really want to drag this out...? never mind. I'll just make something up.'

Juny's rosy lips curled into an affectionate smile.

"I am but a mere avatar of her Luminary Highness. I have come to spread peace and the word of the Princess."

Her deep eyes quietly moved through the wide crowd.

"A terrible misfortune has fallen upon your secluded settlement. A catastrophic demon has been set free, rampaging through your roads and invading the serene dwellings of your thoughts. This has caused you great distress and disabled your mind from achieving true peace."

'... I have never said something so cringe. But it's working? Wha-? Their emotions are actually stable...'

Juny was in utter bewilderment as the villagers seemed to actually find refuge in her nonsense.

The older man blinked, his hands tightly clasped together, imitating Juny.

"T- Then... Y- your Highness."

Juny quickly lifted up her palm.

"You need not refer to me with such ceremoniousness. I am a messenger of 'Her' Luminary Highness, I do not hold the right to be addressed by 'Her' title."

She's rather die than be called 'Her Highness' with such seriousness.

The old Inn keeper flinched, but soon continued.

"My apologies... Your Excellency, m- my wife. What happened to my w- wife? Will she find peace? Will I ever see her again?"

His words were more like pleas.

Each word was filled with despair rather than hope.

Juny's eyes softened, feeling bad for the old man who lost his loved one because of the Evil Spirit.

She never really dated anyone, not to mention marry.

But she remembered the way her parents used to describe marriage.

Juny clasped her hands together again, slowly closing her eyes.

'Philosophically... think Philosophically..!'

Her lips separated again, a new set of peaceful words spreading out.

"It matters not how one's life comes to an end, one's existence does not disappear. It does not cut off. Instead..."

Juny unclasped her hands, opening and extending them towards the villagers.

"Their soul dissipates, spreads out and blends into the very foundations which make up the world. You may find one in their hobbies, you will feel one's presence in their favorite place. Wherever one's greatest footprint is left behind, that's where one can be found."

"One's soul returns to peace, but it does not disperse. It looks at those one has left behind, staying by their sides. They stay as such until it's time to come together with their loved ones once more. Guarding what they left behind together."

"That is what makes up the world. That is what makes up the universe. It's the souls of those who've departed, but haven't chosen to stay in one place. That is what 'Her' Luminary Highness wishes to achieve."

'O k a y, b u t w h y i s t h a t a c t u a l l y n i c e r w a y t o t h i n k a b o u t d e a t h t h a n T h e Q u e e n' s b i b l e d e s c r i b e d . . . ?'

'R̬̂î̬ĝ̬ĥ̬t̬̂? Ĉ̬ĥ̬î̬l̬̂d̬̂, ŵ̬ĥ̬ê̬n̬̂ d̬̂î̬d̬̂ ŷ̬ô̬û̬ ĉ̬ô̬m̬̂ê̬ û̬p̬̂ ŵ̬î̬t̬̂ĥ̬ t̬̂ĥ̬î̬ŝ̬?'

'I made it up on the spot. It's the truth, I just said it in a mightier manner.'

Juny watched as the villagers slowly and quietly broke into tears.

The old Inn keeper observed Juny with both relief and admiration.

Juny just kept quiet, waiting for the villagers to calm down.

Seeing that there was nothing too urgent and the corruption was gone, Juny nodded.

"I wish for you to live a peaceful life filled with purity, as my duty has been fulfilled."

"Please wait!"

Juny gritted her teeth.

Before she could disappear, a different voice called out for her.

It took everything in her to not snap.

She instead calmly looked towards the middle-aged woman with a small child.

Juny's smile stayed the same even though her thoughts were filled with displeasure.

"Yes?"

The woman gulped, holding the hand of her child tightly.

"C- Could you tell us more about her Highness?"

'P f t! H a!'

'Ĥ̬ê̬ĥ̬ê̬ĥ̬ê̬~'

Juny's eye twitched, forcing the Elemental's laughter into the background.

She softly hummed, the calming sound spreading out.

"'Her' Luminary Highness wishes not to take your time which should be spent with your close ones. Care for your deceased, mend that which was broken by tragedy. And an Avatar of 'Her' Luminary Highness shall come upon you once more."

"If your soul should wish for her words even then, 'Her' Luminary Highness will certainly embrace your settlement, allowing you to 'Her' blessings."

Hearing this, the older woman stepped back, looking towards the village.

Juny gently bowed her head, her smile never leaving her lips.

And then, she was gone.

Her dress dissolved into the air, and her figure disappeared.

As if that was a sign, the villagers moved at once, making their way towards the village's square.

At the same time, Juny appeared in her ever-changing appearance by a nearby house.

Darmine sat there with the Red Gloves sitting opposite her.

They paused in their conversation and turned to her.

Juny nodded as a form of greeting before turning to Darmine.

"The situation's been dealt with. We should leave the villagers for a while so that they can stabilize."

Darmine nodded, standing up.

"Understood."

Juny kept her eyes on Darmine, wondering if she should question her now, but she ended up leaving it for later.

Instead, she turned to the last two Red Gloves.

She also looked at the body covered in black cloth.

Juny was silent for a while, carefully weighing her words.

"I wish to offer you my condolences, and I'd also like to thank you for doing your upmost to protect the innocent villagers. What happened was truly unfortunate, and certainly something which could've been prevented."

The Red Gloves flinched, unsure how to respond.

But Juny didn't expect something like an answer, continuing.

"It might seem nonsensical, but I'd like to ask you to also keep the villagers out of further investigations. Although I won't stop you if you do decide to go forward with the exploration."

Juny then looked at Darmine, still speaking to the Red Gloves.

"I'll come back in a month, so I'd be best if all examinations ended by then."

The older one, the captain, nodded with a hint of solemnity.

"I'll see what I can do."

Juny held back a sigh before turning away.

"That'd be appreciated."

With those words, Juny left with Darmine following behind.

...

"Haa..."

Juny sighed out loud, not like it really mattered though.

'Ha ha ha! She did what?! In the Queen's name! That's so f*cking hilarious!'

'𝕀 𝕒𝕘𝕣𝕖𝕖. 𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟', 𝕕𝕚𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕖𝕟𝕛𝕠𝕪 𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕗 𝕒𝕤 𝕒 ℙ𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤? ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕨𝕒𝕤 𝕚𝕥... 𝕃𝕦𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕣𝕪 ℍ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕤? ℙ𝕗𝕥!'

'H- Hey! It's not that f- funny... heh.'

Juny turned her eyes away from the 'ceiling', glaring at the two Elementals right next to her chair.

The Sun Elemental, who already stopped being Attached spoke shamelessly.

'D i d y o u r e a l l y e x p e c t u s t o k e e p q u i e t, c h i l d?'

'Î̬- Î̬'m̬̂ ŝ̬ô̬r̬̂r̬̂ŷ̬...'

With a single glance, Juny could immediately tell who the snitch was.

She sighed, looking back up at the 'ceiling'.

Skillfully, Juny muted the mocking laughter, forcing it to the back of her mind like background music.

As soon as she did so, the space lightly shook, creating multiple doors around the circular table.

Juny silently watched as the Troop Meeting's members walked to their seats before turning to her.

Like a clockwork, they all saluted in sync.

"Greetings, Scoutmaster."

Juny nodded, like she always did.

"Greetings, take your seats."

Just then, when everyone sat down, something caught Juny's eye.

She turned to the side, seeing Darmine outright staring at her.

Juny was quite confused at first, but then her gaze moved a bit to the side.

It landed on the large brown owl, Aeron.

Slowly, Juny felt her heart tightening.

As if they also realized it, the Elementals went quiet.

Before Juny could stop it, Darmine's mouth moved.

"Your Luminary Highness-"

'Crack!'

Juny's face went bright red, the armrests fractured.

While everyone looked at Darmine and Juny in confusion, Juny burrowed her face into her palms.

At the same time, the previous background music burst back out, louder than ever before.

Juny's face burned hot.

Even though she was someone who couldn't get hot, it burned hotter than ever before.

Through the small cleavage between her fingers, Juny could see Darmine.

The short-furred black cat wore an amused smile.

Which was strange, because Darmine was a cat.

And cats shouldn't be able to smile.

Juny kept her head in her hands, inwardly making a promise.

'I swear to all that's Holy, I swear that I'll never again play God!'
