Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 88 Special Affairs

Li Teng crawled in and found a young girl in rabbit pajamas lying flat on her back on the ground.

Her eyes were tightly closed, not moving at all.

Had she been scared to death before he even started to scare her?

If she was scared to death, how could he complete his task of helping the newcomer?

Could he be that unlucky?

Ten points!

Li Teng leaned forward to check the girl's breathing and then her heartbeat.

She wasn't dead, just frightened into fainting.

Since she had fainted from fright, maybe she had also wet herself?

If she had, and it was inside the wax museum, then his task might already be completed.

How could he know whether she had wet herself or not?

He would have to check to find out.

Just as Li Teng was about to reach in and feel to confirm whether the task was completed, the girl suddenly opened her eyes.

Seeing a 'wax figure' squatting in front of her, the girl screamed loudly again.

Li Teng was just about to check if he had completed his task when he was caught off guard by the girl's scream and jumped himself, screaming along with her.

Li Teng's scream didn't help matters; it only frightened the girl more, making her scream even louder.

"Enough! Stop screaming! I'm not a bad guy," Li Teng quickly explained to the girl after he understood what was happening.

"How do I know you're not a bad guy?" the girl asked, looking at Li Teng fearfully.

"There was a bandaged man chasing you earlier, and I chased him away. Do you think I am a bad guy? If I were, would you still be lying here unharmed? And besides, have you ever seen a bad guy who looks as handsome as I do?" Li Teng reached out his hand to the girl.

"I... I'll get up myself," the girl looked at Li Teng, didn't take his hand, and cautiously propped herself up. After glancing around, she screamed once more then quickly crawled out of the wax museum.

Li Teng followed her out, stopping a few meters away from where the girl stood.

After the girl crawled out of the wax museum, she looked around and, not seeing the 'bandaged man' nor sensing any ill intentions from Li Teng, began to calm down slightly.

A while later, she stood up and sat down at a small flowerbed by the square.

"Newcomer, is this your first time here? Are you wondering why you appeared on the pillar? Do you want some guidance from me?" Li Teng called out a few sentences to the girl from several meters away.

"Do you have a phone? Can I borrow it to make a call?" the girl asked Li Teng.

"Please! This isn't the real world. First off, I don't have a phone, and secondly, even if you found a phone, you couldn't make any calls like dialing for help. Just accept it," Li Teng was somewhat exasperated with this newcomer.

Shouldn't the most curious thing be about the pillar?

"Then... what place is this? How can I go home?" the girl looked like she was about to cry.

"We've been abducted by aliens. If you want to go home..." Li Teng tried to concoct a simple and understandable story to help her grasp the situation she was in.

"..."

A few minutes later.

"So, I still have to go back on top of the stone pillar?" the young girl panicked a bit.

"Yes, although it's cruel, that's the reality."

"Must I act, and only by performing well can I reduce the height of the pillar and return home?" the girl asked again.

"Yes, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me," Li Teng nodded, but he didn't tell the girl about using points to lower the height of the stone pillar.

It wasn't necessary yet.

"I...I'm hungry," the girl touched her stomach.

"Come with me," Li Teng walked a few steps toward the restaurant, then looked back at the girl.

The girl hesitated for a moment before she got up from the flowerbed and followed Li Teng.

"Film and Television City takes good care of newcomers. There's a high chance everything is free on the first day. We, the veteran actors, don't get this perk. We spend our own points for meals. Here's how it works..." Li Teng explained to the girl how to use points in advance and how to order food.

The girl was bewildered by the options and didn't know what to choose, so she asked Li Teng for suggestions. Thus, Li Teng recommended dishes like roast suckling pig, braised pig feet, braised prawns, crispy fried shrimp, pork rib lotus root soup, and squirrel fish, but of course, it was only a suggestion, the choice was still in the girl's hands.

Unexpectedly, the girl ordered all the dishes Li Teng had suggested and also ordered some additional appealing desserts, fruits, ice cream, and milk tea.

"Can you finish all that? Think it over, if you're unlucky, it might not all be free or only partially free," Li Teng cautioned the girl.

"If I can't finish, you can help me eat," the girl pressed the confirm button directly.

It was too late for Li Teng to stop her. After thinking it over, he felt he didn't need to stop her. When he first came here, he was reluctant to spend his points, yet everyone ended up getting a full waiver. It seemed that the lottery was just a sham, and all newcomers were destined to get a full waiver. He was perhaps worrying over nothing, and it might have impeded others.

"Want anything else to eat?" the girl asked Li Teng again.

"No need, this is too much, you are too kind, and now I feel embarrassed."

"Being new here, it's proper to treat a senior to a meal. Please look after me in the future," the girl mentioned to Li Teng, clearly showing that she was smart in first establishing good personal relationships upon arriving in a new place.

"I will cover you as much as I can," Li Teng always remembered favors.

"What's with the countdown on the wall?" while eating, the girl asked Li Teng for another piece of advice.

"It's the start time of the performance, it's still early," Li Teng said as he stuffed a large piece of roast meat into his mouth.

"Slow down, don't choke," the girl handed Li Teng a drink.

"What's your name?" Li Teng took a sip of the drink and asked the girl.

"I...I don't have a name, I'm just a rabbit with a very, very small courage," the girl touched the rabbit ears on her pajamas, hesitating to reveal her real name.

"Then I'll give you a stage name, how about Little Bunny?"

"Whatever, what's your name?"

"Li Teng, Mu Zi Li, the Teng of twisted Teng, you can call me Brother Teng," Li Teng answered her.

"Oh, alright Brother Teng."

"Little Bunny, how did you get here? Did anything special happen before you came?" Li Teng brought up another topic with the girl, trying to cover up the fact that he was gobbling down his food.

"Nothing special... On the night before I appeared on the stone pillar, like usual, I was reading my favorite online novel on the bed in my bedroom. Then...it seems... I voted daily for that book, but I forgot to vote that night. I don't know if it's related, but the next day, I woke up on the stone pillar," the girl thought about it and answered Li Teng.
