Chapter 68: Blacklist
The hotel featured double rooms.
Extras were assigned standard twin rooms, while Minor Special Engagement actors got single rooms.
The higher the single room's level, the better equipped it was with various facilities.
Li Teng and Gao Fei shared a room, and although Du Qing was a Minor Special Engagement actor, he still shared with Huang Xun.
Anna had a single room, Elsa and Daisy shared one, and Feng Dahai was detained and watched over for committing robbery.
"Brother, any thoughts or plans for Hell Mode tomorrow?" Gao Fei asked Li Teng before they went to sleep.
"What plan could I have? I don't even know what Hell Mode looks like."
"Didn't you go ask the director? We all saw you following her."
"I did, but she said she had nothing to tell me," Li Teng shook his head.
"I feel...although the director seems cold, she still takes care of you, like in the first scene, she didn't stop you from taking the high stool, the second scene, you took the high stool again, she still didn't stop you, the third scene, you ran out of the rest room to steal the knife, and she still didn't stop you. Maybe she has some other kind of feeling for you."
"Why don't you try showing her your charm? Maybe you could win her over, and if you do, she might provide you with some useful information and look after you in secret, which would make our time in the crew much easier," Gao Fei suggested a few ideas to Li Teng.
"I've tried, no use, I was nearly thrown into an elevator by two bodyguards," Li Teng was distressed.
"Cough..." Gao Fei didn't know what to say. Li Teng must have thought of everything he could think of, and Li Teng was much thicker-skinned than him.
"Right, the things you mentioned today at the restaurant, the experiences you had on top of the pillars, were they real?" Gao Fei changed the subject.
"Of course they were real. Didn't you encounter any strange things on top of the pillars?" Li Teng found it odd that Gao Fei would question this.
"Not at all," Gao Fei shook his head.
"What have you been through since you got to the top of the pillars?" There seemed to be something off to Li Teng.
"The night I arrived, I slept with my girlfriend..." Gao Fei began to tell his story to Li Teng.
According to Gao Fei, after they reached the top of the pillars, the weather was mostly fine, not too hot or too cold. Nothing strange happened. They had rain showers occasionally, but no thunder or lightning.
Although it soaked their clothes, it also provided them with drinking water, allowing them to last longer.
The only thing that scared them was the fear of heights, the fear of the unknown, not knowing how some mysterious power had brought them to such a high place.
Later, a helicopter came, and his girlfriend climbed aboard first. He was about to climb aboard too when the helicopter pulled up the ladder and flew away.
The next day, the helicopter came back. It didn't bring his girlfriend back but took him to Film and Television City.
He joined a crew, one that was full of senior actors, and was barely involved in the plot. He just watched these actors attacking and sabotaging each other, eventually leading to one death.
Then for some reason, all those actors left the crew together, and his second performance was when he met Li Teng.
In that original crew, even though he did not participate in the plot, the senior actors took care of him after the filming. They did not deduct his points and told him many rules of Film and Television City and some tips and tricks.
Unfortunately, he didn't understand much then, so he didn't remember a lot.
Overall, his experience had been quite smooth, and he hadn't faced the thrilling situations that Li Teng had.
Of course, he still suffered from thirst and hunger, but fortunately, they weren't fatal.
"Damn it! I must be on someone's blacklist; someone's definitely messing with me," Li Teng frowned.
"What did you go through before? Any other incidents besides the vultures?" Gao Fei asked curiously.
"When I was first kidnapped to the pillar…" Li Teng began telling Gao Fei.
"Thunder and lightning…"
"Plane crash…"
"Hot air balloon burning…"
"Cough… Your experiences are too bizarre, it's like Hell difficulty compared to mine! You could write a novel about it!" Gao Fei listened in astonishment.
"You tell me, if there isn't someone behind the scenes messing with me, who would believe it?" Li Teng sat up and spread his hands.
"Indeed, but I do have a theory about that," Gao Fei pondered.
"What's the theory?"
"It's like... when we entered the Film and Television City, it was like players getting into some online game. Our game characters all have a basic attribute value, but the total amount of these initial attributes is fixed. If one of your basic attributes is too high, the others will inevitably be very low."
"Like me, with a low IQ, below-average appearance, maybe the luck or luck value is a bit higher. Most of my basic attributes are moderate, so I don't encounter too many bizarre incidents."
"But you're different, your intelligence is far above average, and you're so attractive, you've used up too much of your basic attribute total, leading to an extremely low luck value and some other hidden attributes. That's why you encounter so many strange incidents and went straight into Hell Mode on the pillar," Gao Fei shared his analysis.
"That seems to make some sense. If that's true, I'd rather be dumber and uglier," Li Teng said, expressing his frustration.
"Come on! Stop playing the victim here! Who doesn't wish to be both smart and attractive?" Gao Fei thought Li Teng was putting on an act.
"How about we switch? Will you take my place in Hell Mode tomorrow?" Li Teng suggested to Gao Fei.
"I don't mind taking your place in Hell Mode, but your looks and intelligence can't be transferred to me!" Gao Fei felt helpless.
Li Teng touched his own face and didn't say anything more.
"By the way, if only one can survive the Hell Mode tomorrow, and it comes down to only you and Anna, would you kill her to make sure you survive, or would you let her have the chance?" Gao Fei asked Li Teng a question that greatly interested him.
"What do you think?" Li Teng glanced at Gao Fei.
"You're so kind; you'd definitely give her the chance to survive," Gao Fei chuckled.
"Where do you see that I'm kind? If that situation arises, considering our acquaintance, I would make it quick for her," Li Teng answered Gao Fei.
"But could you really do it when it comes down to it?" Gao Fei kept asking.
"Do you think she would hold back against me in that situation?" Li Teng retorted with a question for Gao Fei.
"Given her personality, probably not. Last time, for the confrontational performance, she only thought of herself before it started, not cooperating with you at all, which ended up backfiring on her," Gao Fei shook his head.
"If that's the case, why should I hold back?"
"Indeed, that makes sense, sigh… That choice might be heartless, but it's a necessary one, after all, we're just passing acquaintances… It just feels too cruel, and I can't imagine what I would do in that situation," Gao Fei sighed.
"This woman is not easy to deal with; she's a great actor and quite crafty. Besides, she's also quite skilled. My only worry now is that if your scenario happens, I won't be a match for her in a direct confrontation. So, I have to be prepared in advance," Li Teng frowned.
"I guess she's most wary of you right now. She's also very familiar with your tricks, and beating her will indeed be very challenging," Gao Fei nodded.
