Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 63: Additional Plot

At that moment, Feng Dahai, having been treated, entered the room with a steely-faced expression and sat down in a corner of the resting area, without uttering a word.

Just moments ago, he strutted around with authority, cracking his whip as he pleased and wielding a branding iron with the same reckless abandon, while Huang Xun and Pretty Boy Du Qing showered him with various flatteries. Now, he resembled a dog that had lost its home, facing a miserable fate of being sealed in wax.

What a promising start it had been! Yet it had developed into the situation at hand.

Before coming here, upon hearing that Guo Zhipeng and his mother had successively died at Li Teng's hands, Feng Dahai mocked their foolishness, confident that hunting down Li Teng personally would be effortless, almost certain of securing the 100 points reward.

Upon his arrival, he also fortunately drew the role of the Traitor Leader, the main character of this scenario, dictating the development of the entire plot. Others were either his lackeys, his internal accomplices, or, he tied them all up to be tormented.

Who would have thought that such a favourable situation would end in his defeat!

Like Guo Zhipeng and his mother who he mocked, he held a winning ticket but died by Li Teng's hand!

Especially that stab from behind by Li Teng, which still left him 'dead' without understanding why.

Thinking of that stab, Feng Dahai subconsciously looked towards Li Teng, only to find Li Teng also looking back at him.

Upon noticing that Feng Dahai was watching him, Li Teng made a throat-slitting gesture at him, his face revealing a mocking smile.

Feng Dahai was so angered he nearly had a heart attack on the spot.

"So what if I'm sealed in wax? You all will still go to Hell," he said.

With this thought, Feng Dahai's mind finally found some peace.

Hearing others discuss the plot, Feng Dahai decided to listen closely and reflect on where exactly he had lost.

"The performance is over, and the results are out. Who is the Underground Worker? Can you reveal it now? Even if we lost, let us lose with an understanding," Huang Xun spoke up.

"Hahahahaha.... Stop guessing! It's me, I am the Underground Worker!" Elsa suddenly burst out laughing, tears streaming down her face.

"It's you?" Huang Xun looked unconvinced.

"What's wrong? I am not just the Underground Worker, I am also the Liar," Elsa said with a triumphant look.

"I didn't expect your acting to be so good either? I never suspected you from the beginning to end," Huang Xun expressed his confusion.

"Being the Liar, what is the real clue in your hand?" Pretty Boy Du Qing asked Elsa, not ready to give up.

"My real clue is 'I am the Underground Worker, and only my beloved Donna knows about this'," Elsa disclosed her clue.

"So that's how it is, I finally understand," Anna's face showed sudden realization.

"What do you understand?" Huang Xun, scratching his head, was eager to know the truth.

"I always thought Donna was the Underground Worker, it turns out he got himself a mistress behind my back. Sigh... I got it all wrong! What a waste," Anna sighed.

"Do you have additional plot details?" Gao Fei seemed to understand something.

"Yes, after entering the newspaper office, I received the plot arrangement from the director, saying that Elsa is an Underground Worker. After entering the newspaper office, she fell in love with the charming and elegant Donna. That's why she has been trying to recruit Donna into her organization," Elsa took over the conversation.

"During this process, Donna also clearly understood the identity of Elsa I was portraying. While Donna secretly dated Elsa, he was still deeply in love with Anna. Moreover, he and Anna had already set a wedding date. Donna did not want his lover, Anna, to get involved in these matters, strictly forbidding Elsa from contacting Anna and also forbidding Elsa from recruiting Anna," the office lady Elsa narrated her plot.

"Anna, what's your clue?" Gao Fei looked towards Anna.

"'I am about to marry him, but I found out he often secretly conducts underground activities.' That's my clue; while at the newspaper office, someone came up to me and said I was about to marry Donna soon, so the 'he' in my clue must refer to Donna."

"This 'underground activities' also misled me into thinking Donna was the Underground Worker, otherwise, I wouldn't have chosen to self-destruct when Feng Dahai was about to kill him," Anna shook her head, a frustrated expression on her face.

"I mean why did you choose to self-destruct? I thought..." Li Teng chuckled.

"Thought what? Thought I was so moved by your charismatic personality that I would sacrifice my life just to go to Hell with you? Don't flatter yourself!" Anna huffed.

"No! I actually thought you had lost your intelligence. There was nothing to do with you. I might as well go to Hell alone, but you just had to send yourself there! Ah, this intelligence, what else can I say about you?" Li Teng finished what he had earlier left unsaid.

"You..." Anna, infuriated, swung a punch at Li Teng, but Li Teng caught her wrist again.

"Convinced! A Republican-era spy drama, and they've even thrown in a love triangle! What a melodrama!" Huang Xun vigorously shook his head.

"I also received the plot description, saying that Donna and I are close buddies, the kind that goes beyond friendship. He has always wanted to help the Underground Workers recruit me into the organization. I asked him who his superior was, but he refused to tell me, so my clue is: 'Donna clearly knows who the Underground Worker is,'" Gao Fei also spoke up.

Daisy was still zoning out and didn't speak, but from her earlier confession, it's clear that her relationship with Elsa was good in the plot setting. Elsa must have also secretly tried to recruit her, so her clue was 'You guys should ask Elsa about this.'

And between Daisy and Huang Xun's character Mickey in the drama, there was some interaction. The naive Daisy might have inadvertently mentioned the Underground Worker in front of Mickey. After learning all this, Mickey reported to the Traitor Leader played by Feng Dahai about the presence of an Underground Worker in the newspaper office, leading to the subsequent plot.

Mickey's clue, naturally, was to betray Daisy first.

"Right now, I have no interest in who the Underground Worker is. I just want to know, how did Li Teng cut the rope and get behind me? Where did the knife come from? Such a serious violation, and the director does nothing?" Feng Dahai, sitting in the corner, took the opportunity to question the director.

"When you guys entered the newspaper office to arrest people, the military police did search them," the director responded to Feng Dahai.

"Exactly! Then why did he still have a knife?" Feng Dahai became even more annoyed.

"You'll have to ask yourself that," the director tossed the question back.

Feng Dahai was suddenly choked up, unable to say a word.

"Where did your knife come from?" Anna also couldn't help but ask Li Teng. When the military police came to arrest people at the newspaper office, they indeed searched them, and if Li Teng had a knife on him at that time, he couldn't have hidden it from the military police.

Later, they were escorted to the execution room and were tightly bound the whole time, leaving no chance to access any knives. The source of Li Teng's knife truly became an unsolved mystery.

"I know! I know where his knife came from now!" Huang Xun suddenly remembered something, his expression one of sudden realization.
