Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 34 This is our crew

"Don't do this!" the girl cried upon hearing what the old lady said.

The female office worker also started to wipe her tears again.

The misery of others is our own misery; crying for others is also crying for oneself.

"Don't cry. I've lived a long life and I'm content. You should know we all came into this world crying, so no matter how difficult life is, we must always live with a smile," the old lady comforted the two instead.

"Well said, you mentioned you are a businessman, you must be a cultured one!" Gao Fei gave the old lady a thumbs-up.

After hearing the old lady's words, both the girl and the female office worker stopped crying.

"Thank you all. Although I don't know you and the last scene we shared was just a fleeting encounter, you've all left a profound impression on me. I'm glad to have met you here and to have had your lives intersect with mine in this way.

Don't be sad about my departure; you must live on with even greater effort, and I will pray for you at the wax museum," the old lady placed her palms together and bowed to everyone a few times.

"Thank you," the others all expressed their gratitude to the old lady.

"Young man, you are quite promising, I believe in you, make sure to persevere and never give up," the old lady came over and said a few words to Li Teng.

"I have terrible luck; I don't know when it'll be the end for me," Li Teng shook his head.

"Don't think like that. If someone has a continuous run of bad luck, their good fortune isn't far behind. Believe that the heavens are just," the old lady comforted Li Teng.

Li Teng sighed and said nothing further.

"And you, don't be so impulsive. Being too impulsive can get you killed," the old lady also said a few words to Gao Fei.

"With my intelligence, I wouldn't live much longer whether I'm impulsive or not," Gao Fei also sighed.

"As for you, don't argue over everything with others. Winning and losing in arguments is meaningless, but in the end, you might suffer precisely because of your words," the old lady said to the Glasses Man.

"Cough..." Glasses Man nodded repeatedly, strongly agreeing with this point.

"You all should get along and help each other, standing together in unity. Don't engage in scheming or attack each other, only by staying united can more people survive," the old lady once again spoke to everyone.

The crowd all nodded in agreement.

"It's about time to leave," the masked female director spoke up.

Under the director's urging, the old lady and the others waved goodbye and boarded a bus that had come to take her to the wax museum, quickly disappearing around the corner.

After the old lady left, the atmosphere around the coffee table became somewhat somber.

No one spoke again. The female office worker started to wipe her tears once more, while the girl blankly stared at the coffee cup in front of her.

Li Teng continued to drink his free coffee.

Half a minute later, the Sunglasses Woman came over from the far end of the street.

Seeing everyone's low spirits and silence, the Sunglasses Woman glanced at the stool where the old lady had sat as if she understood what had happened but didn't say a word.

Li Teng guessed that the Sunglasses Woman had participated in at least a dozen shows and was probably accustomed to the kind of incident that had happened to the old lady.

"The cast from the last performance is all here now, which means there should be two newcomers today," Gao Fei broke the silence.

"Not newcomers, I guess the next to arrive will be two experienced actors," the Sunglasses Woman shook her head.

"I hope they are kind-hearted people," the female office worker spoke up.

"Forget it, the more shows you're in, the less likely you are to be kind-hearted. Being kind-hearted will get you killed faster," the Sunglasses Woman snorted coldly.

"I feel the same way. This is Film and Television City, we are all actors, and only those with great acting skills can survive longer," Glasses Man agreed with the Sunglasses Woman, then glanced at Li Teng.

Li Teng continued to drink his coffee, as if he hadn't heard what Glasses Man had said.

His stomach was a bit bloated now, he had eaten too much.

Two minutes later, two more people arrived at the coffee table.

One was a fierce old lady in her fifties, and the other was a young man.

This old lady had a very fierce look and was also robust and stalwart, appearing entirely different from the elegantly poised old woman who had turned into a wax figure earlier.

The young man beside the fierce old lady was all smiles and fawning, like the typical pretty boy you'd see in society.

The two obviously knew each other, talking as they walked over.

When the two arrived beside the coffee table, Sunglasses Woman quickly stood up and sat in the seat where the elegantly poised old lady had been sitting earlier, leaving the adjoining stools for them, presumably not wanting to sit between the two of them.

"Hello there! Welcome to our crew," the white-collar woman greeted the fierce old lady and Pretty Boy,

The fierce old lady gave the white-collar woman a sidelong glance, an expression of disdain on her face.

"Fresh meat. This is our crew, not yours," Pretty Boy said to the white-collar woman with a mocking tone.

"This…" The white-collar woman felt a bit miffed and unconsciously looked towards Sunglasses Woman, probably hoping she would say something on behalf of everyone.

Sunglasses Woman turned her head to the side, obviously not wanting to get involved with the two.

The white-collar woman then looked at Li Teng for help.

Li Teng just kept his head down and continued to drink his coffee as usual.

"You two clearly look like experienced seniors; upon arriving here, you are of course the masters of this place," Glasses Man said, eager to please and quickly buttering up Pretty Boy.

"Ha ha ha ha… The kid's quite sensible, has potential," Pretty Boy said, patting Glasses Man on the back.

"Thank you for the tip, senior," Glasses Man said with a big grin.

"Ah! Ptui! A fly! Disgusting!" Gao Fei spat on the ground.

The young girl snickered and then realizing no one else was laughing, quickly stopped herself.

"Everyone's here. We can start now," the female director announced as she came over.

"Hello, everyone. The scene we're filming tonight is for a movie called 'Death Crew.' The specific scene is called 'The Last Bus.' Let me give you a brief introduction to the performance you're about to do."

Everyone was silent, looking towards the masked female director.

"'Death Crew' is a horror movie, within the genre of ghost films," she explained.

"Today's scene has a puzzle-solving nature, where the identity of each actor is not public and uncertain. Hence, the roles will be decided by drawing lots."

"The hierarchy of the actors will determine the order of the draw, as well as the number of times one can draw, with those having the same level being given priority based on more points in their accounts."

"You will be portraying members of a crew, main characters, supporting characters, special appearance actors, photographers, lighting technicians, sound recorders, crew members, and so on."

"This crew is filming a ghost film."

"And in this scene, the crew members are all returning home by public transport after a day's shoot, waiting at the roadside to catch the bus."

"This is the last bus."

"Among the eight of you, one is a ghost."
