Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 225: Art Performance (3176 extra pages)

"Are they really that brainless?"

"Rushing into the zombie horde like that, are they seeking death?"

The bit of good feeling that Liu Hui had just started to harbor for Li Teng vanished without a trace in that moment.

These zombies, awakened from the snow, would wander aimlessly without a target, their movements slow and sluggish.

However, when someone approached, the scent of fresh flesh and blood instantly stimulated their nerves, secreting a special hormone that allowed their motor abilities to soar to their peak in an instant.

So, when Li Teng kicked the door open and charged out, the zombies were instantly activated and with a roar, they surged towards him.

As one zombie got close to Li Teng, he sidestepped its claw attack, tripped it onto the ground with a hook of his foot, and then stomped down hard towards the back of the zombie's head with his other foot.

There was a crisp 'crack', and that zombie never got up again.

The second zombie rushed over but before it could even lift its arms and open its mouth, Li Teng closed in, slashing hard across its neck with a backhand grip on his dagger, silencing it as it fell.

The third zombie charged forward, but before it could make an attack, Li Teng landed a heavy punch on its face, sending it spinning through the air. Because its head spun more rotations than its body, it landed face and back in the same direction and didn't get up again.

Fighting is not just about technique, but also about the combination of strength.

Without strength, Li Teng could not have stomped to death the first zombie, cut through the neck of the second with his dagger, or punched the third zombie into the air.

Li Teng in his youthful peak had trained all aspects of his physique to the limits of humanity.

In his peak state, he was the perfect combination of technique and strength.

His battle with the zombie horde now appeared as if he was putting on a performance.

A perfect artistic performance about close combat technique, strength, and slaughter.

Fighting with the Grim Reaper for years, constantly pushing his speed to the limit, made him see the zombies' attacks like they were in a slow-motion movie.

He didn't need to make too many dodging maneuvers, just hit their vital points with his fists, feet, or dagger before they could attack, effectively disabling them.

A few minutes later, the performance was over.

The ground was now littered with over a dozen zombie corpses.

Not a drop of blood stained Li Teng's body.

Liu Hui, who hadn't yet stepped off the wooden stairs of the guardhouse, was completely dumbstruck.

"Is he... using cheats again?"

"How else can it be explained?"

Yet another rational voice emerged in Liu Hui's mind.

Film and Television City had just cracked down on cheats severely, and Li Teng was one of those targeted by the crackdown.

At this point, it was impossible for him to use cheats again, and Film and Television City wouldn't allow it either.

There was only one explanation for all this.

That is, he never used the cheats at all.

He was simply this strong.

In fact, he might have never used cheats, like her father, slandered by rumors because of excellence and wrongfully accused of using cheats.

He wasn't a cheater. Just like her father, he was a victim of rumors.

After contemplating this, Liu Hui even began to feel guilty inside.

Her father had always warned her not to take others' words at face value, and that she should make her own clear and rational judgments based on what she saw with her own eyes.

She had forgotten her father's teachings, she had judged the man to be a poser before the performance, based solely on her own subjective assumptions, only for reality to fiercely slap her in the face.

"Are you stupid? Is there something wrong with your brain? If you don't leave, just stay here alone!"

Liu Hui, who was immersed in shock and thought, was suddenly awakened by Li Teng's shouting.

"You..." Liu Hui saw his resolute figure walking away and quickly followed him.

Being mocked and looked down upon even aroused her fighting spirit.

She rushed forward in anger, even getting in front of him, unleashing her fury on the zombies ahead.

In no time, she had taken down two of them.

Li Teng's mockery completely unleashed her hidden potential.

...

Liu Hui had always believed that she was different from her sister, Liu Yin.

Although born into a wealthy family with a golden spoon in her mouth, her childhood and adolescence were quite miserable.

She grew up with her father. From the age of three, her father started training her personality and her body, taking her trekking through deserts, climbing mountains, and swimming, often only stepping in to pull her up when she reached her limits or even thought she was about to die.

During her adolescence, her father even threw her into a military camp, until one day, she rebelled violently, injuring several officers severely and was put in solitary confinement. It was then that her father made a big compensation to the military and took her out.

After that, her father never forced her to train again.

As her father aged, her relationship with him gradually softened.

Her sister, Liu Yin, was raised by their mother, always pampered and never having to suffer.

She always felt that her father was unfair to them and couldn't understand why he did what he did before reaching adulthood, which also resulted in a consistently estranged relationship with her sister that never improved.

However, after arriving at Film and Television City, she found that everything her father trained her in was proving to be useful.

When facing difficulties, she was stronger than the male actors, and during fight scenes, she never flinched.

When fighting with full force and unleashing her body's potential, she could withstand two or three well-trained robust men head-on, despite being a woman.

So, she normally looked down on ordinary men.

Unless that man was as excellent and tough as her father.

"I didn't see that coming! You can really fight!" Li Teng was somewhat surprised by Liu Hui's performance.

"I'm not like that coward! Don't compare me to her!" Liu Hui responded to Li Teng. For a moment, she saw her father's shadow in the man beside her, which made her feel again the grievances of the past.

"You're wrong. Your sister isn't cowardly at all. She's smart, strong, even more enduring than you are, understands how to adapt better, and, moreover, she knows how to speak to people more than you do," Li Teng contradicted Liu Hui's statement.

"You..." Liu Hui became even angrier, vaguely remembering that her father seemed to have said something similar, although not exactly the same words, but the meaning was quite similar.

She vented her anger once more on the zombies in front of her.

She never knew that she could actually take down three zombies in one go.

Even more.
