Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 202: Bearing the Guilt of Possessing a Treasure (2nd Update, Seeking Monthly Pass)

Li Teng did not think that just because he had acquired these skills, he could stand up to the crafty veterans before him.

Just like that Li Bai, no one knew how much of his skill power he had actually used to hunt down the Ghostly Frost System's evil ghosts this time.

A master is indeed a master, always able to make you feel as if their depths are unfathomable.

Unless you have the strength to force him to use all his skill power.

After the noisy phase of treasure division came to an end, it was time to consider where to go next.

Li Bai seemed to have a plan in mind, and, taking to the air, he led the way with Xiang Yu and Han Xin quickly following in a certain direction.

Bald Qiang waved to his three companions and followed behind the trio of Li Bai.

Li Bai obviously had some kind of adventure awaiting him; his perception ability was the highest among all present.

Originally, it was Li Bai who led the charge to snatch the creatures from Bald Qiang, but now, having failed to grab the first magical treasure, he was instead followed by Bald Qiang.

However, for the trio of Li Bai, it did not matter.

They were bound to encounter Bald Qiang and his four companions sooner or later, better sooner than later.

Before the protection period ended, there were advantages to both sides working together to fight the Evil Ghost Boss.

When facing a powerful boss, everyone could sit down together and discuss output strategies, which would greatly increase efficiency, and as for the final magical treasure, it all came down to luck—whoever snatched it would claim it.

For these actors, securing a magical treasure now didn't necessarily mean it was safe in the bag.

Once the protection period was over, it was quite possible that the magical treasures, like their lives, would be lost.

Securing a magical treasure during the protection period might not be a good thing after all.

A man is not guilty for being frank, but is guilty for possessing a jade.

Of course, this time the situation was a bit different.

Two large guilds were involved, and members of the same guild could not attack each other, so the most likely outcome would be a big battle between the two powers in the end.

A life-and-death battle.

The winner takes all.

After entering the forest ahead, everyone moved swiftly through the mountain cliffs, and ultimately, under Li Bai's leadership, arrived at the entrance to a giant cave.

"Bald Qiang, there's an evil ghost inside that's tough to deal with, how about we join forces?" Li Bai proposed to Bald Qiang.

"Heh, sure thing, but first you have to tell me what special attributes that evil ghost has, otherwise don't expect us to exert ourselves," Bald Qiang demanded a condition from Li Bai.

"If my perception is not wrong, that evil ghost should be capable of releasing Hellfire," Li Bai replied to Bald Qiang.

"Hellfire? I don't feel any heat though!" Bald Qiang sniffed audaciously as if his nose could actually detect the scent of Hellfire.

"Believe it or not, it's up to you." Li Bai tossed an elixir to both Xiang Yu and Han Xin, and after the three of them consumed the elixirs, they leapt together into the cave.

Bald Qiang and his party exchanged glances and then rushed in as well.

"Old Monk, should we take the Fire-Resistant Pill?" Bear Big asked Bald Qiang.

"Let's go in and see first. We'll discuss it if we see any signs," Bald Qiang shook his head, wary of being tricked.

Li Teng also hung back and followed the seven inside.

"That foolish kid followed again, without a Fire-Resistant Pill, he's probably going to burn to death," Han Xin commented as he glanced back.

"Once he's scorched, he'll learn to retreat from difficulties," Li Bai responded to Han Xin.

"He might turn to ashes before he figures it out," Xiang Yu laughed heartily.

Li Bai took out a long sword, leading the way and effortlessly slaying some wild ghostly entities.

As the killing went on, ghostly entities engulfed in flames of Hellfire became more and more frequent.

The terrain inside the cave kept descending, and before long, the area ahead grew increasingly hot.

An odd wind carrying the high temperatures of the subterranean magma blew in another direction, indicating the presence of another exit, which explained why the heat wasn't felt at the original entrance.

Bald Qiang and the others immediately each took a Fire-Resistant Pill and then followed Li Bai and his two companions.

Cui Hua took out the Nether Cold Pearl to see if it could help with the fire resistance.

Without the proper Cultivation Technique to activate it, it was ineffective, so she had to give up.

The Evil Ghost beneath the ground was clearly much more formidable than the one they had encountered on the surface.

The reason was simple, the surface Evil Ghost possessed the Ghostly Frost System skill but was born in the wrong place, having not found a nether cold area suited to unleash the full power of its abilities, and thus its strength was greatly diminished.

The underground Evil Ghost, meanwhile, practiced Hellfire, having established its lair near the subterranean magma, which significantly increased its power from its original level, possibly making it twice as strong or even stronger than the surface Evil Ghost.

It was no wonder Li Bai invited Bald Qiang to join the fight.

As they continued downward, the temperature kept rising, and the distinctive pungent odor of magma could already be smelled.

Li Teng was forced to stop.

With this temperature, if he continued any further, he'd eventually be burnt to ashes.

It was a pity, another big BOSS, seemingly even stronger than the Evil Ghost that had dropped the Nether Cold Pearl.

He should be able to obtain plenty of Life Resources, then learn one or two powerful skills.

Well, might as well wait here for them to come out.

Having nothing better to do, Li Teng started to study his new Ghostly Frost System skill.

...

After pressing on for a while longer, Li Bai and his party came to a fork in the road and stopped as well.

"What's wrong?" Bald Qiang leaped forward to join them and asked Li Bai.

"There's a large magnetic ore deep underground that's disrupting spiritual power fluctuations, making it impossible to pinpoint the exact location of the Evil Ghost. How about we split up and search? Whoever finds it can signal the others inside the cave, so we don't waste time," Li Bai suggested to Bald Qiang.

To put it bluntly, his scouting ability was nullified here, just like everyone else, they could only rely on sight.

"Okay." Bald Qiang wasn't worried about being tricked. Regardless of which party first encountered the underground Lava Demon, the ensuing battle was sure to be tumultuous and impossible to hide from the other party.

After agreeing on a strategy, they split up and continued to rush deeper into the underground.

...

"So that's how it is!" Li Teng had already figured out how to use the Ghostly Frost System skill and was pleasantly surprised.

Strictly speaking, it was a supplementary skill.

It could be added to other skills to enhance their potency.

When applied to the Ghost Blade skill, it could create a freezing effect with each slash.

When added to the Ghost Armor Skill, it could form a layer of Frost Armor outside the body, offsetting the intense heat from the environment.

But it required a continuous drain on Soul Power.

10 points of Life Resources could be exchanged for 1 point of Soul Power, meaning it would consume a large amount of Life Resources.

Fortunately, Li Teng had a substantial reserve of Life Resources, enough to withstand such consumption.

This rekindled his interest in the underground Lava Demon.

If he were to follow them now, it would definitely arouse their suspicions.

A tender newcomer, able to resist the fierce underground lava fire.

Better to stay out of sight if possible, keeping a safe distance, the Death God APP could still crack it, albeit at a much slower rate.
