Chapter 112 Divine Assist (3rd update, please subscribe)
After a quick assessment of Li Teng's injuries, the staff lifted him onto one of the stretchers.
Anna, who wasn't really injured, took another stretcher as well.
After all, the treatment was free.
Inside the helicopter, there were two healing pods.
The two were tossed into the healing pods.
The helicopter started and soon took off into the sky.
…
Li Teng woke up in a room.
After changing into the free clothes provided by the crew, Li Teng walked out of the room.
As last time, outside was the airport.
The room he had been in was the airport's treatment room.
The director, sitting in a leisure chair, unconsciously stood up when he saw Li Teng coming out, then sat back down.
Li Teng walked over and sat down in the leisure chair opposite the director.
"Alive again, a man who went to Hell twice and came back alive both times, well done," the director praised Li Teng in a flat tone.
"Just lucky," Li Teng smiled.
"You seemed to know that place was safe to land in?" the director, while watching the live broadcast, always wondered how Li Teng seemed to have already planned which numbered grid on the ground he would land on.
"I used to play lots of battle royale games, and this Hell Mode scenario really resembled one of the maps from those games. I remember that map had a canyon filled with thick snow. I had fallen there many times in the game and couldn't climb out easily, so I wanted to see if it was the same map, and it really worked," Li Teng had anticipated that someone would ask him about this, so he had thought of an excuse early on.
"Game?" the director seemed puzzled.
"Yeah! Could this Film and Television City actually be inside a game world?" Li Teng deliberately skewed the topic.
"It's possible, some male directors' scenes might incorporate game worlds, sci-fi worlds, or even fantasy worlds," the director no longer seemed suspicious of Li Teng.
"I was about to ask you the same thing, but it seems I don't need to now," Anna's voice came from behind Li Teng.
"You won't go back on your promise, will you?" Li Teng, seeing Anna, immediately remembered something.
"Get lost!" Anna, look indisposed, moved far away to sit, to avoid Li Teng, this animal, suddenly making a move on her inappropriately.
"Director, I survived. Is there any special reward?" Li Teng shamelessly turned to the director again.
"Surviving Hell Mode nets you a reward of four times the pay," the director answered Li Teng.
"That's it?" Li Teng chuckled.
"That's it," the director did not agree to anything extra this time.
…
Li Teng went to a terminal located by the airport wall and started querying on the machine.
Debt-free and light-hearted, the 40 reward points no longer needed to be halved.
He now had 103 points in his account!
Finally broke a hundred!
Two new options appeared on the terminal's interface.
One was to sign up for an advanced performance, requiring 100 points.
The other was to lower the height of the stone pillar, 100 points to reduce it to 900 meters, with a bonus of a water dispenser.
"Anna!" Li Teng shouted to Anna, who was standing in front of another terminal.
"What's up?" Anna looked at Li Teng warily.
"Come here," Li Teng beckoned to Anna.
"No need, just say it from there." Anna knew that getting close to him was definitely not a good sign.
Why did she have to say that to him at that time?
Right, she thought he had died, or was unconscious.
It turned out this guy had been pretending all along!
He deliberately made her give him artificial respiration!
That's despicable!
"I now have over a hundred points, should I upgrade first, or should I lower the height of the stone pillars?"
"It depends on what you think," Anna replied to Li Teng. "If you're always short on water on top of the stone pillars, go for the water dispenser first; if you want to earn points faster, then enter the promotion competition. It's not good to let others decide for you; it's better to make your own decision."
"Will the promotion competition be a total loss? 100 points!" Li Teng asked again.
"With how cunning, despicable, and shameless you are, the ones who should be worried about losing everything are the other actors who compete with you," Anna glanced at Li Teng.
"Is that the image you have of me?" Li Teng looked devastated.
"Don't worry," Anna, seeing Li Teng's expression, felt that her words might have been a bit harsh. "The competition for extras to upgrade to minor special engagement extras is the easiest; only one out of eight gets eliminated. There's no way it could be you."
"Should I make a decision now?" Li Teng was hesitant.
"No rush, think it over on the way back to the cafe. Just make sure to choose on the terminal before leaving," Anna shook her head.
"Alright, I'll think about it." Li Teng indeed found this matter quite headache-inducing.
"I think you've already made your choice," Anna glanced at Li Teng; she believed that given Li Teng's personality, his first choice would definitely be the promotion competition.
After checking, Li Teng looked at the decorative pebbles next to the terminal and suddenly picked another one up and put it in his pocket.
Now that the live stream of the Hell Mode performance had finished and there were no drones following them anymore, he didn't need to worry about being seen taking the stones.
"You can't be serious? Are you planning to do what you did to Feng Dahai again, but this time to that doctor?" Anna, seeing the stone, immediately recalled something.
"Why not?" Li Teng smiled.
"Definitely not, with Huang Xun's personality, he'll expose you on the spot," Anna shook her head.
"With his intelligence, expose me? You think too highly of him," Li Teng said contemptuously.
"You've eliminated all those who opposed you, and Huang Xun has always been against you too, delighting in your misfortunes. Aren't you prepared to take him out?" Anna was somewhat puzzled about this.
"Isn't he always helping me? Why would I eliminate him?" Li Teng looked at Anna with a puzzled expression.
"True, the enemy's incompetent allies are divine assistance for you," Anna felt that what Li Teng said made a lot of sense.
...
After completing the necessary procedures, the director led Li Teng and Anna on a chartered flight back to the film crew's location.
All eight members of the film crew gathered outside the cafe once again.
The second scene of "Lurking War Wolf" had officially ended.
Liu Huang became the only actor who was encased in wax after the performance ended.
"Changing the plot to make me choose the wrong role, I want to file a complaint!" Liu Huang was furious.
If Li Teng and Anna had been eliminated in Hell Mode, he would feel much more balanced. He was wax-sealed, but at least he would have dragged two others down with him; but now, these two came back fine, and he was the only one wax-sealed!
"The leaders of the Supervision Department aren't here. Are you looking to complain to me?" Li Teng teased Liu Huang.
