Chapter 45: Trails of The Successor - Stage 1... (3)
There was no significant changes in other skills like the skeleton fruit skill which might be due to 5 less skills points being added to them.
SKILL POINTS - 13
There were still 13 skill points left but using them to see what changes could occur in my other skills seemed a bit foolish.
Skeleton soldiers and Skeleton riders that I left to incubate were also ready to be deployed in the battle but that did not seem to be necessary. Skeleton archers were already clearing out the mob with great ease.
I left the newly incubated skeleton soldiers and skeleton riders with the veteran skeletons. The old skeletons were giving me a odd look. It felt like they were saying " We already are useless and now you add more members to let them see our uselessness?".
I wanted to do a detailed inspection of my upgraded skills which was halted due to the addition of new members to my mini skeleton army.
My dream of having a grand army was constantly growing and upgrading the skill reduced the time as well as the mana required to incubate a skeleton fruit.
Now 2 skeleton riders could be incubated in time and mana of 1 meaning the time and mana required to incubate a skeleton fruit had reduced by half.
I could now use bulk method to incubate skeleton fruits too. To be fair calculating the time and mana required to incubate a skeleton fruit was a little bit frustrating.
If I gave an order to incubate a skeleton fruit, how many fruits could be incubated with the mana I have is calculated automatically and shown.
" Incubate skeleton archers "
MP - 2600
INCUBATION CAPACITY - 26
TIME REQUIRED - 1 HOUR: 30 MIN
I could now add 26 skeleton archers in just 1.5 hour. Just thinking about the destruction my army of skeleton archers could do made me tremble with joy.
Ignoring the gazes of my skeleton riders and skeleton soldiers, I hastily incubated 26 skeleton archers.
INCUBATING SKELETON ARCHERS....
AMOUNT - 26
TIME REQUIRED - 1 HRS: 29 MIN : 57 SEC
" I need to clear this stage as soon as possible to make you stronger so that you could also make some contributions. " looking at my other skeletons I explained.
Their gazes became little soft but I could still see their dissapointment of not being able to contribute in the on going battle.
Letting them go to battle meant no harm but they were incubated in the time of crisis, when I had little mana as well as no means of self protection.
They gave me a hope of survival in this world and letting them go to their death would mean I could sacrifice my subordinates in time of abundance.
Not letting them fight was like making an eight course meal infront hungry people but giving them no chance of touching the food. They could just smell the food.
It could make sane people go insane and start marching towards the food with murderous intent.
But these skeletons did not have any will or sanity, what they had was purpose - keeping their master safe and killing enemies.
I would let them fight but for now they were safe here. We just saw the mob below but there may be hidden booby traps laying low in order to surprise us when we were most relaxed. Being cautious did not cause any harm.
Putting the skeleton soldiers and riders on guard, I still had other three skills left to inspect.
Deathly aura increased the amount of negative death aura that constantly surrounded me. Mist like aura was now dense. And the increase in density of the death aura, strengthened my skeletons too. Though the added strength was not visible without much scrutiny, it was there nonetheless.
Deathly aura not only strengthened skeleton fruits a bit but all other skills were also strengthened. Bone manipulation became easier and the defense provided by necrotic healing also increased.
Adding skill points to other skills was not fruitless. Levelling one skill could also increase the power of other skills.
They were connected closely compacting and complementing each other subtly strengthening all the skills together.
Saving skill points for later was a wise move but using them now would also not put them to waste. It would prove to be a future investment which would provide great return given a bit of time.
" Add 4 skill points to deathly aura "
" Add 4 skill points to bone manipulation "
" Add 4 skill points to necrotic healing "
" Add 1 skill point to skeleton fruit "
SWOOSH .... SWOOSH ... SWOOSH....SWOOSH....
The addition of skill points were followed by four swooshes after which all the remaining skill points vanished from the skill points section leaving no skill points behind.
SKILL POINTS - 0
It was a bit hard to see the hard earned skill points vanish like that but the skill points were added to my own skill further strengthening them so there was no point in thinking about it anymore. Finishing this stage before the record time would give me additional attribute and skill points later on as well.
Skeleton archer were doing their job well... to be more accurate, they were performing too well. Bulldozing the mob, constantly ringing system prompts, all of this felt surreal.
Was utilizing the skill points this necessary ? If I knew about the changes previously, I would have started strengthening my skills sooner.
HALF OF THE CREATURES OF STAGE ONE HAS BEEN KILLED...
SPWAN TIME OF THE MOB HAS BEEN DECREASED.....
SPWANED MOBS ARE NOW STRENGTHENED.....
KILL THE REMAINING MOBS AS WELL AS RESPWANED MOBS IN GIVEN TIME....
INABILITY TO CLEAR THIS STAGE WILL RESULT IN PLAYERS DEATH.....
Just as I was thinking " This dungeon should not be so easy right ! ". The mechanical voice rang in my ears once again. Think of anything and this mechanical voice would take it to heart and make it a bad omen.
I could visibly see the stronger mobs spwaning. If I did not clear them fast enough, more stronger mobs will respawn which ultimately would lead to my untimely demise.
I looked at the stationary skeleton soldiers and riders giving them a light nod with an order.
" Destroy every moving thing and dont die. "
The remaining skeletons as well as the newly incubated skeletons sprang into action.
Jumping from the cliff, landing below in a heroic pose and razing the mobs below, all happened in a flash. Should they be such showoffs ? Or they felt the need to show me their usefullness it doesnot matter now.
Skeleton soldiers were good but the skeletons riders, they were the best. They proved the price tag on them was not expensive for nothing.
They were more impressive than the archers, moving through the crowd with such ease and speed. Everywhere they went just scattered bones were left. Now regretting the decision of not letting them go into the battle would only cause me more pain.
Rate of death of the mobs below was so much fast that it dwarfed the rate with which the mobs were respawning.
Cleaning this stage up became much easier after all of my skeletons sprang into action and it would only require an estimated time of 5 hours now if no other variables are introduced by the mechanical voice again.
