Chapter 42: Trails of The Successor...



As I slowly regained consciousness, I found myself back where I was, still surrounded by my skeletal companions who were motionlessly watching me. The experience with Blane felt like a distant dream, yet the weight of his words lingered in my mind.

The encounter with Blane left me reeling with a mix of emotions - awe, trepidation, and a deep sense of reponsibility. The scene of Blane looking down at the world left a deep imprint on my mind.

The fusion with the ring of retribution had changed something within me, a power waiting to be unleashed. A wave of happiness hit me everytime I looked at the ring fused in one of my branches.

But admist the euphoria of ascension, a nagging sense of urgency gnawed at the edges of my consciousness. Blane's words echoed in my mind, urging me to harness the full potential of the Ring of Retribution and prepare for the challenges ahead. I knew that the path of a successor was fraught with trails, and I was determined to prove myself worthy of the mantle I now bore.

But there was no time to dwell on the past or the implications of my encounter with Blane. I had to focus on the present and the tasks that lay before me. The mechanical voice had announced my level- ups which I had yet to see.

As the mechanical voice announced my level- ups, I felt the surge of power coursing through my being, each ding resonating with the weight of my newfound title. The title of being Blane's successor brought a lot of unforeseeable dangers but it had its own perks.

I nearly levelled up 6 times in a row after becoming the successor to Blane. I knew how hard it had become to level up even once and as the ranking of players had become my first priority, this level up had helped me a lot.

I had to check how much stronger I had gotten after levelling up 5 times. Without any delay I gently said status window in my head and a system prompt appeared before me revealing my new status window.

Title section of the status window had been unlocked and I could see that the title was of the highest grade - the supreme grade. Once again the responsibilities that I had after having this title steeled my resolve to get stronger even more.

My attribute points and skill points both had increased a lot and now was the time to fully utilize it. I wanted to gather more attribute points and distribute them equally to all five of my stats so I had saved them till now. But waiting any longer seemed to be a bad idea so this was the time to use them.

I had 42 attribute points meaning each one of my stat could be increased by 8.4 points. It could bring a huge qualitative change in my stats as well as give me the ability to incubate more skeletons. So without any delay I ordered the system to assign 8.4 attribute points to each of my stat.

My status window got refreshed and the newly added attribute points had given a huge boost to my strength.

My hit point and mana point nearly doubled in numbers. I could now incubate more skeletons and strengthen my arsenal of weapons.

As I was thinking about skeletons, the five skeleton archer fruits that I had previously set to incubate had also successfully incubated.

Now my team of skeletons had already become a small army consisting 11 members - 2 skeleton soldiers, 2 skeleton riders and 7 skeleton archers.

I already had 2470 mana points which meant I could incubate more skeletons. I had 7 skeleton archers which were more than enough for me so now I just had to focus on incubating skeleton riders and skeleton soldiers.

Without any delay I activated the skeleton fruit skill and incubated 5 skeleton soldiers. Already familiar process occured once again and 5 fruits like structure appeared on the branches indicating successful activation of the skill.

Incubating 5 skeleton soldier had consumed 600 mana points and I only had 1870 mana points left which was enough for three skeleton riders so I activated the skeleton fruit skill again and this time my objective was to incubate the skeleton rider fruit.

1800 mana points vanished from the mp bar and only 70 mana points were left indicating the activation of skeleton rider fruit skill 3 times.

With the new added skeleton archers in the team I can clear up the dungeon a lot faster than expected. All 11 of the skeletons were beside me. 2 skeleton archers were hiding and scanning for any immediate threats while the others were motionlessly waiting for my new set of orders.

I ordered 9 of the 11 skeletons to return back to the dungeon and move according to the plan. I should finish this dungeon as soon as possible and move onto the next dungeons showing on the map.

Following my order 9 skeletons set out towards the dungeon. Looking at their backs facing me I look a long breath of relief and started looking at other things. I still had skill points left that I had to distribute and increasing skill level also seems to be of necessity now.

As I was figuring out how much skill points I should distribute to each of my skills, the dungeon exploration team that I had sent to the skeleton grotto did not enter the dungeon for a long time. A system prompt would appear infront of me after skeletons enter or exit the dungeon and previously it did not take so much time for them to reach the dungeon.

Skeletons not entering or coming to a stop meant something was wrong. So I hurridely monitored the dungeon exploration team through a skeleton archer at the back of the team.

The skeletons had reached the dungeon but the entrance of the dungeon had changed. Previously the entrance was like a dark and gloomy cave whereas now the dungeon was shining with vibrant colours. The entrance of skeleton grotto did not match the previous one which must have confused the skeletons.

I did not think much of the change and thought that the change might have occured after I took out the Ring of Retribution from the dungeon. This entrance of the dungeon looked much better than the previous one this meant that much better things could be hiding inside.

I ordered the dungeon exploration team to enter the dungeon and after getting my order all 9 of the skeletons entered the dungeon. As they entered the dungeon a system prompt also appeared infront of me.
