Chapter 184: Treasure and Puppet_2
A sense of anticipation filled everyone.
Lucilia rose onto her tiptoes to receive the banner.
"Try to master this Treasure and see if you can claim it."
Jason and Julia, who had previously prepared to master the Treasure, had no objections. If Lucilia could master this Treasure, it would clearly be more suited to her. Moreover, this might be her only opportunity to claim such an item. After all, Lucilia wasn't a complete being, and Treasures imposed stricter requirements on one's physical form. If she couldn't even master this particular Treasure, attempting to control others would be significantly more challenging for her, perhaps even impossible. This was because Treasures were averse to acquired physical flaws, let alone congenital deficiencies. For someone like Lucilia, whose very body was artificially constructed, the chances were even more remote.
However, they had faith in Alka; as long as they sailed with him, they were confident that more Treasures would come their way. There was no need to rush this time. Their past voyages had already unequivocally proven this.
Holding the banner, Lucilia looked at Jason and Julia. Encouraged by their nods and the expectant gazes of the others, she channeled her Magic Power into the banner.
As her Magic Power surged into it, the banner emitted a crimson glow, and a blood-red aura began to emanate from it. The sounds of clashing swords and battle cries seemed to echo around them, as if a company of Knights was charging across a battlefield. Amidst these phantom sounds, the banner's red glow continuously flowed into Lucilia's artificial body.
With the activation, Lucilia opened her eyes. The crimson light tinged her emerald pupils, and the banner, responding to her will, began to shrink and integrate into her body.
It was, as anticipated, a perfect match. Just as Alka had once instantly mastered the Mirror Surface, Lucilia assimilated this Treasure on the spot.
Once integrated into her body, the banner's emblem—crossed crimson swords—manifested as an insignia resembling an armband on her arm. The remainder of the banner melded into her body.
The ambient Magic Power began to surge wildly into Lucilia's soul, forcibly elevating her strength to the level of Three Spirals. Having only just become a Toucher, her rapid advancement to Three Spirals was frantically drawing upon the surrounding Magic Power. This created a vacuum in the Magic Power immediately around her skin. Had this occurred in the Homeland Sea, all Magic Power within at least a one-meter radius of Lucilia would have been entirely consumed.
Here, however, the concentration of Magic Power was significantly higher, and it had been steadily increasing as their voyage progressed. Even though Lucilia had leaped directly from being a Toucher to the level of Three Spirals, this process had only depleted the Magic Power immediately adjacent to her skin.
Seeing this, Alka couldn't help but furrow his brow. He knew that the artificial body he had crafted for her was not designed to withstand the level of Three Spirals. The materials, flesh, and blood used in its construction could, at most, support power up to Two Spirals, possibly even less. Yet now, Lucilia's strength had undeniably reached Three Spirals. How had this been accomplished?
Alka stared at the small figure before him, his brow furrowed in thought.
Lucilia, her eyes open, looked at Alka and noticed the confusion in his. She immediately explained, "The Core Spell, 'Blood and Flesh Veins,' utilized in this body, originates from this Treasure. It directly augmented the flesh and blood within my body through this Spell, even perfecting the Magic Circuits within them. Furthermore, it channeled Magic Power back into the constituent materials, forcibly elevating their quality."
Alka nodded upon hearing this, a general understanding dawning on him. Simply put, it was a case of brute force achieving the miraculous. By intensely infusing Magic Power, the Treasure had forcibly elevated the inherent magical properties of those materials. After all, the level and intensity of such Magic Power-infused flesh, blood, and other materials were fundamentally a reflection of their capacity to hold Magic Power.
Then, he watched as Lucilia gathered herself and leaped, intending to land on his shoulder as usual.
But things didn't go as planned.
With that single leap, however, Lucilia shot skyward like a missile, soaring past even the mainmast's crow's nest.
"AAAAAH!"
Her scream tore through the air as a fierce wind howled around her. Lucilia's small form was on the verge of being swept away by the strong gusts over the sea. Although this sea region was relatively calm, its winds were still far more turbulent than those of the Homeland Sea.
A rope suddenly shot out, instantly ensnaring Lucilia in mid-air. This action finally allowed everyone below, who had been preparing to intervene, to breathe a collective sigh of relief.
"Well done, Sound of Dawn," Alka commended, catching Lucilia as she swung down along the rope.
Lucilia, now cradled in Alka's hands, was exceptionally stiff. She didn't dare to move recklessly but still managed to say, "Thank you, Sound of Dawn."
Seeing Lucilia's state in Alka's hands, Chadite chuckled. "That surge in power was just too immense. You can't control the Magic Power within you at all right now, nor the enhanced physical attributes that came with it."
Hearing Chadite's words, Lucilia could only nod stiffly, because it was undeniably true. She had merely intended to leap onto Alka's shoulder as she usually did. Who could have predicted that such a light jump would possess so much power? Coupled with her diminutive size, she had inadvertently launched herself into the air. Moreover, the potent Magic Power from the three newly formed Magic Circuits was now rampaging through her body, completely defying her control.
