Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 169 Chef_2

Otherwise, this lineage wouldn't grant any truly powerful abilities, at most making one's physique slightly stronger. And this was only at the Holy Grail Level. Of course, if a family line was separated from its Treasure for too long, such special abilities in the descendants' bloodline would gradually fade until, after hundreds of years, they reverted to being ordinary people.

I wonder what kind of Treasure could bring such special abilities to Juanlu's family.

However, this physical capability allowed one to deduce the potential abilities of the family's Treasure. It was similar to how they had previously guessed what Treasures various forces possessed in the Realm of Pitch Darkness.

Knowing about Juanlu's change, everyone nodded in understanding.

Just then, Jason got up and went into the kitchen. He returned with a large platter and placed it on the dining table.

"It smells so good! We were drawn down here by this aroma," Julia said, covering her mouth with a smile.

The discussion about Juanlu had diverted their attention.

The breakfast before them consisted merely of vegetables and meat slices tucked into bread, much like sandwiches, yet the aroma wafting from them was incredibly enticing, greatly stimulating everyone's appetite.

Akka picked up his sandwich, examined it, then glanced at Jason. "You didn't make this, did you? You don't have this kind of skill."

Jason quickly retorted, "What are you talking about? I made this! Well... with a tiny bit of help from Juanlu," making a small gesture with his index finger and thumb.

Chadite, from the side, couldn't help but tease, "Your 'tiny bit' could probably fill an entire ship!"

After a few jokes, everyone took a bite. Deliciousness erupted in their mouths; the food was so good that Alka couldn't help but tear up. It was understandable; considering the limited culinary skills of those on board, Alka hadn't eaten something so delicious in a long time and was genuinely moved.

At moments like this, he always missed Uncle Matt from their former ship. But admittedly, even though this dish was made by Jason with just a little help from Juanlu, it had already reached Uncle Matt's standard.

One could only imagine how high Juanlu's own skill level was.

As he savored the deliciousness, Alka noticed the gazes of several people nearby. Jason, of course, wasn't among them; he was too busy fervently devouring the sandwich in his hand. He glanced at the others and saw a clear message in their eyes: they couldn't hold back their thoughts either.

Thinking of this, Alka couldn't help but smile. He understood perfectly because he felt the exact same way.

The unspoken message from the others was singular: find a way to keep Juanlu with them. A sea voyage desperately needed such a gourmet chef. And this particular culinary master, with just a slight demonstration of his skill, had already won them over.

"This is truly delicious, Juanlu! Your culinary skill must be at an incredible level," Alka remarked casually, though he didn't really know much about cooking.

Hearing this, Juanlu shook his head solemnly and lamented, "No, I still have a long way to go. I'm still fumbling along the path to the summit."

At these words, Chadite glanced at Alka, as if receiving a cue, and chimed in, "Oh? Have you met someone with even better culinary skills than yours?"

Juanlu nodded. "I have. It was during my childhood, on the island where I lived. Speaking of which, he could be considered my guide. He was an old man, and I had the privilege of tasting his cooking. It was the exquisite flavor he demonstrated that set me on this path and has led me this far."

"He has always been my goal," Juanlu said, shaking his head helplessly. "But even now, I haven't so much as caught a glimpse of his shadow."

"So I travel around, to see if there are interesting cooking methods or any novel ingredients."

What a classic setup.

"Speaking of ingredients..." Alka suddenly remembered something. He stood up and walked towards the kitchen.

Then he took out a wrapped piece of meat from the ship's freezer and handed it to Juanlu. This piece of meat had been cut from the Sea Beast they hunted on Icecap Island and had been stored in the freezer ever since they boarded.

Juanlu took the item Alka handed him and curiously unwrapped the outer packaging. As he opened it, aside from a hint of Coldness, a faint, fresh plant-like fragrance wafted out.

Catching this scent, Juanlu's interest was immediately piqued, and he examined the piece of meat in his hand.

"'This is meat from some animal, isn't it? Why does it have a plant-like fragrance?' Juanlu wondered, somewhat perplexed, and began to study it carefully.

"'The meat is very firm, with fine patterns. If used for grilling, it would be an exceptional delicacy. Moreover, there is a trace of Magic Power within this meat. It must have been taken from an extraordinary monster.'"

With that, he regretfully wrapped it up and handed it back to Alka. After all, it wasn't his, even though he considered it an excellent ingredient. Alka probably just wanted him to use his professional knowledge to appraise it.

To his surprise, Alka pushed it right back. "This is meat from a Sea Beast we hunted previously in the Extreme Cold Triangle Zone. We only managed to get this one piece. You've seen our cooking skills—we clearly can't handle it. It's yours."
