Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 131: Life in the Crystal (5000 words)_2

The changing battle conditions once again drove Pororo to do what he had sworn never to do.

The same reaction as last time occurred.

"URGH!"

He gagged violently, but it was merely an unavoidable instinct. Without lingering, he flung his hands to his right.

Two water whips immediately coiled around the Evil Spirit battling Chadite.

The Evil Spirit, which had only just broken free of its restraints for a short while, was instantly bound again. This time, Pororo personally bound it. Forget escaping; its entire form was even being dragged by him.

Seizing this opportunity, Chadite's hands flared with Holy Flame, silver ripples coursing along her arms to her fists.

The ignited Holy Fire transformed into a spiral along the silver ripples and, with the swing of her fist, was imprinted onto the enemy's soul.

The spiral Holy Fire caused the enemy's Spiritual Body to rotate, burning through and piercing it.

Amidst piercing screams, the Evil Spirit dissipated into green smoke, vanishing into the air like a small whirlwind.

One could even smell a faint, lingering scent of scorching in the air.

The two Evil Spirits in the room were swiftly eliminated through the seamless cooperation of the three.

Only then did Pororo control his water flow to remove the Frost that had formed on his hands.

The Frost, visible even after being removed, had left scars on his hands.

Fortunately, even though their foes were two Evil Spirits, their cooperation ensured they hadn't sustained any significant injuries.

After all, for the past six months, they had fought little else but Evil Spirits, to the point they were sick of them.

As long as the Evil Spirit's mutation was sufficiently grotesque, there was little difference between One Spiral and Two Spirals.

"This place has two Two Spirals. What on earth is hidden down here?" Pororo couldn't help but ask.

Hearing this, Alka looked at him, pondered for a moment, then explained, "This place is evidently the Governor's Mansion on this Island. It isn't strange for such an important figure to have two Two Spirals for protection."

"A Guard Team?" Pororo said. "Then just how important must this person be? For such an important figure to still need others for protection?"

What strange logic, Alka thought. He didn't offer much of a response, instead turning his gaze to Chadite beside him. "Scan and see if there are any hidden spaces."

Upon hearing this, Chadite nodded, and silver ripples began to expand outward from beneath her feet.

These silver ripples spread throughout the entire building, including its underground portions, conducting a meticulous survey.

Using the information relayed from the scan, Chadite constructed a detailed mental model of the entire building.

"Plenty of hidden spaces exist, but the largest is right beneath us. There's a basement down there."

Since the building wasn't solid and housed many rooms, the spreading ripples easily mapped out the locations of passages.

There was no need for Lucilia to delve downward to explore. Instead, Alka and Pororo followed Chadite up to the second floor, navigated several winding corridors, and arrived at an exceedingly large bedroom.

On the bedroom's bed lay several skeletons, decayed here along with the massive bed and surrounding furnishings.

Judging by the room's opulence, the Governor himself might very well be among the skeletons on the bed.

Chadite went to the side of the room, knocked on the wall before her, and said, "This should be the entrance to the basement."

Alka walked over and knocked as well, then glanced around. A mechanism built into the house's walls like this, after 400 years, had likely encountered various issues and would no longer function.

A silver card materialized in his hand. As Magic Power infused it, its edges began to emit a faint, cold brilliance.

Holding the card, he began slicing along the edge of the wall before him, quickly cutting out a rectangular doorway.

Crumbling stones fell away, revealing the passage entrance: a staircase slanting downward toward the basement.

A faint fragrance, mixed with the salty humidity of seawater, wafted over.

Alka and Chadite cautiously descended the stairs.

Behind them, the towering Pororo watched their actions and sighed helplessly. He did his best to shrink his large frame, finally squeezing into the passage. Stooping and bending his knees, he inched his way downward, practically rolling himself into a ball.

The trio ventured down into the basement through the passage entrance.

Surprisingly, there was no stifling odor here, only a mix of fragrance and the salty dampness of seawater, even after 400 years.

Additionally, this location wasn't far from the island's perimeter; even if there was a passage, such an aroma shouldn't be present after 400 years.

The group observed the basement before them. It didn't seem to contain any hidden treasures but was instead divided into several rooms. Two rooms appeared to be living quarters. Another one was filled with books, though they were long decayed and tattered. Yet another room seemed to be a workshop for some kind of crafting, with a few tools still visible.

The trio strolled about, discovering nothing of value.

At this moment, Chadite furrowed her brow, and silver ripples once again expanded from beneath her feet.

"There's more space underneath. This basement is merely a decoy, or perhaps an antechamber."

As she spoke, she led the other two to the far end of the basement, where a stone door stood, slightly ajar, revealing a narrow crack.
